I dont think we are far apart in our views. Its just that if your definition of "african-american" is " either somebody who descended from slaves or a more recent African migrant "

then Harris is part of the former. I however do find the label of "african-american" quite odd and would personally reject that label if it were me, But im from a different culture and cant begin to understand why its used. I would just call myself American if i was born there. I call myself Jamaican ...simple , but im not from a hugely diverse country with the kind of history that America has. Really hope this post doesnt piss anyone off . I just dont get certain things. Like Ilhan Omar as an african american is totally different from Jim Clyburn as an african american and also Kamala Harris as an african american. I guess its like calling all people from spanish speaking countries Hispanic.
I occasionally enjoy confusing racists by pointing out that a locally famous white South African preacher at a large church in the area is technically an African-American.

You wouldn’t believe how many people there are here who don’t register that not all Africans are the same race.

How can african-amercian seem non-American, when the clue is in the name, half of the phrase is "American". Seems a strange perception you have.
Ask the people who treat them as 2nd class citizens, disenfranchise them, look the other way when police kill them, segregate them etc.

Ask many of the 70 million who voted for Trump what an American is, I bet you they won't say an African-American. The African part in my opinion grows weaker with every generation to the point where they are just Americans and should be treated and regarded as such.

Biden can create a Covid plan but will everyone follow it? Thanks to Trump wearing a mask, socially distancing and even washing your fecking hands has become political, and while some folk will just follow the rules after a couple of weeks of moaning there's going to be some peenarses who will shout "this is proof that they're gonna take ma freedoms".

Well, according to those people, since Biden won the virus is going to just disappear.

I heard that Cheney is gonna be a foreign policy advisor to Biden. Supposedly mentioned on CNN. Can anyone confirm?

It is going to be Tucker isn’t it? Couple of years as anchor on Trumps network then onto the big prize.
Lincoln Project thinks that he is the frontrunner for the Republicans. I think he would be extremely dangerous, cause he combines Trump's 'disgustness' with actually high intelligence.

Let's hope instead there would be a boring normal Republican like Rubio or Sasse or Ryan.

Keep an eye out on Josh Hawley. He's young and brings a blend of Trumpism and traditional conservatism.

I honestly doubt anybody who follows in Trumpism will be as "charamastic" enough like Trump was in 2016 to rile up a base enough, that Cotton fellow is as dull as that Reece Mogs fellow.

Trumpism will die and end with Trump, sure you'll get a hardcore set of supporters but for the most part they are offshore from the Confederacy flag wavers so a natural progression.

I can just see the whole ‘TV personality‘ taking over politics after Trump. Usually they have charisma and can hold a crowd so to speak and if they are up against a goof like Tim Kaine then there would only be one winner.

Honestly if a flesh eating arachnid leapt out from behind the scenes and started poisonously eating Rick Santorum from the eyeballs out I’d be fine with it.

The state of the country when Santorum is used by MSM to project "Sensible Conservatism". Already claiming Biden should do deals with McConnell

Also its 2nd ever Catholic President.
Kennedy was the first, right?

was there any jew? in argentina, till 1994 you had to be catholic to become president. Old constitution that was cleverly changed.

Also, not too long ago we had an election with two women candidates. They both have the most votes, so there was a second-round voting between them

that must be some kind of historic record

This has been CNN's MO for four decades now. They have always tried to bring conservatives to debate liberals to project a sense of balance. Crossfire, Evans & Novak, all kinds of Presidential pundits etc.

Anecdotally I've know carribean/West Indian people who don't think of themselves as Africans but that's by the by.
I actually agree with you on this point. Obviously everyone will view things differently and you can't apply any broad strokes, but my ancestors came to Trinidad from India, but I don't consider myself to be Indian. Of Indian descent, sure, but I have no connection to India and do not think of myself as thus.

What can the Feds impose on States anyway? H
Or in any case, here in Canada, public health and health care are entirely in the hands of the provinces and territories. (Although the Feds van exert pressure since they provide the money from the national tax revenue.)
