How does Dier get a game? He’s a disaster. Walker just horrible. Pickford needs binning. Grealish sublime and calves on point.

The price they were asking at this moment in time was ridiculous. Not sure next year will improve financially for clubs either.
I can imagine United having another crack in the Summer, and then we'll either get the player (probably paying over the odds) or we'll back out of it and he'll join the list of "nearlies".

Grealish is the one that's got me curious now. I can seriously imagine a scenario where another PL club like City go in for him and get him.

I wouldn't be starting Pickford, Coutrois has been shite for a couple of years.

Alderweireld? Nope, he's more comparable to Maguire in team status also.

Tielemans or Witsel? Over Rice and Henderson? nope.
Courtois had a phenomenal season in Spain. He carried Real.

Kane is utter shit for England and has always has been. Will score goals but feels like he plays for a different generation compared to Rashford, Sterling, Greenwood, Grealish, Sancho, Saka and others. He plays a different type of football to them and missed 5 chances today.

I personally dont feel like we should start him and he should be our plan B.
Can't be serious.

I struggle to understand exactly what Southgate is trying to do sometimes. That line up was a joke that stank of being scared. Definatley missed Rashford.

Would be surprised if he said: "we were absolute shite". Really don't get these interviews, they all say same things. What is the point.
It's also just a case of talk being cheap. It's a box-ticking exercise. Play the game, do the interview, appear in an ad, get the money regardless of winning or losing.

You can usually tell more from a player's body language. I doubt the likes of Kane enjoyed that game, especially with how he and Grealish looked to be doing most of the work.

Can see Denmark turning Belgium over and making the finals. Belgium were very poor tonight. KDB out of sorts. Denmark know their system well and are hard to play against.

It’s a bit of a false comparison. Before the Nations League existed competitive games against top nations were a lot rarer. You might get one top side in your qualifying group but outside of that it was tournaments only. England have also favoured ‘elite’ friendlies before the NL started and have been playing top nations more often in recent seasons.

Nothing against Krul as he's a good keeper but when was last time Holland started a 2nd tier player out of interest? Did Martins Indi still get called up after Stoke went down.
Cillessen (regular first choice) and Bijlow (young Feyenoord keeper) were injured, so De Boer didn't have much choice (not many Dutch goalkeepers abroad or with experience).
Bizot (AZ) was on goal against Spain. Didn't perform well and is a bit inexperienced on the international level.

I believe Fer was also a regular team member when he annually relegated with his team, but I don't think he ever started while he was technically a 2nd divisionist.
Hard to come up with a name. Nice challenge :D

Luckily Martins Indi isn't called up anymore. We have a couple of injuries right now, but when everybody is healthy we are good in defense (not like in the past).
Van Dijk, De Vrij, De Ligt, Blind, Aké (and Veltman, Botman, Bazoer) as central defenders. For the backs we have Dumfries, Hateboer, Promes(?), Wijndal, Van Aanholt, Haps as options.

De Ligt/De Vrij/Van Dijk would be a world class trio if we play a 3-5-2 system (as we did against Italy).

Southgate isn't the man that's goes to lead England FC to any tournament wins.

Good group of players, needs a good manager...if not, we're just going to get bullied out of the Euros by every half decent side we face

One goal scored in open play in the nations league for us and three goals scored in 5 matches. I hope he scraps 3 at the back and we move to either a 433 or 4231 and look to get the best out of out best players who are forwards.

How does that matter? England are 5 points behind Belgium?
Yeah I forgot it was just group winners that qualify. I'd lost interest in the rules and following the group ages ago, just been paying attention to England's performances more than anything.

The annoying thing about playing 3 at the back is that there are a minimal number of players in the side that regularly play with 3 at the back from what I can recall. It makes no sense to use a tactic wildly different to one that most of your players play for their club.

Well I'm happy to finally see the best of Rice in an England shirt and Grealish cementing his place in the side.

Apart from that I have little hope we will make any sort of impression at the Euros with this manager, too set in his ways and has too many favourites.

I feel like any manager in world football at any level would be on the phone to Vardy to get him in this side with Kane playing with less responsibility at 10. Unfortunately by the time we get rid of this clown that ship will have long sailed.

Bar the WC semi run, which had its fair share of luck, Englands record is very average under Southgate. Lost 10 games, already.

I still haven't figured out what nations league is. Is it just the friendlies but in a tournament or something?
Not friendlies. Only reason Iceland had a shot at the Euros a few days ago was because of the Nation's League. Also the reason Scotland, North-Macedonia and Slovakia qualified.

They're competitive matches that replaced friendlies and your matched with team closer to your strength so no hastle of having to arrange matches. It's another trophy for players to win. People like winning trophies.

Whilst it was one of the most enjoyable world cups in years being an England fan, we were so bloody lucky to get to the semis. Lost to each decent team we played: Belgium twice and Croatia, deservedly so.

Gutted we didn't make the final, but that would have been grim against France.

Southgate is obviously shit.

I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.

So what happens now that we finished third?

Will he ever set England up to win games rather than not lose them, still feel we lack creativity in the middle but convinced Southgate isn't the man to get the best out of what we have
