I would hope he would go for a draw. It would be a smart approach. We are 3 points ahead. We don't need to go all gung-ho.

Fergie rarely went for the jugular against the top 4 teams. Kill the rest of the league consistently but be conservative against the top 4 unless the opportunities present themselves.
Yeah but back then it was usually a big two and a couple of other good ones rather than a real big four. If you drew/lost to your closest rivals, you could make it up by consistently winning games against the also rans. Now, there are too many quality teams towards the top to take that approach who can all beat the minnows week in week out.

Maybe I'm missing something but going by Ole's quotes he's not even sure the guy is gonna play for us this season and people here think he'll come of the bench at a field? Don't get me wrong I'm all aboard the hype train but I reckon it's going to be a month or so until we see him.
Why?

this boy will win European player of the year one day. He is at that level. We only have him and mason at that level. Medjbri is looking bright as does Pellestri who has started to pick it up but they are not in the same league as amad and mason and the proof is in the transfer fee. The speed which he dribbles with coupled with the skill on unmade pitches pretty much is petrifying. He’s going to get fouled a million times because if his quick feet and as a bonus Daniel James at 21 can watch and learn what a real wide player with pace and skills looks like by watching an 18 year old. And trust me, if James is still here he will actually learn by wAtching amad.
Absolutely no way I could trust anyone who speaks in such an over the top way about an 18 year old prospect. We've all seen the same videos that you presumably have and yes, he looks very exciting and I agree I think he has more to his game than Pellestri in the limited video I've seen but but my god, get a grip. That you believe he will win the European Player of the Year from a ten minute Welcome to Man United video makes you sound unhinged. A bit of balance is needed here.

Look at Ravel Morrison's career. Everyone that watched him in youth teams said he was a dead cert. Now look at him.

I can't embed media but if you were aware, Atalanta have some youth matches on Youtube in full. I've seen some matches with him and he's pretty much unplayable on that level. And he performed well in the first team considering his age. But it seems to me that he does have a tendency to fade away in some matches, he's a bit erratic and he's not the worlds greatest finisher. But when he's on the ball. Yeah, I think you should watch some full games and not the "Welcome to Man United video."

I'm not disputing he's not good. He clearly is. My point is that the poster to whom I replied (with a conspicuously similar username to you) was being way over the top about Diallo when we know that no matter how good a player looks, you can't map out their career.

United's history is full of players who have flattered to deceive at youth level. I'm sure people might have projected far greater things for Angel Gomes and Ravel Morrison. Or outside United, there were players like Freddy Adu and Nii Lamptey that were future footballing gods. Even Greenwood is not looking the generational talent that regular youth team watchers guaranteed us he was after following his junior career. Doesn't mean he won't be a very good/great player just that we need to temper our proclamations when discussing kids this young.

I quoted you, mainly because you "presumed" and claimed that his opinion were created by a "ten minute Welcome to Man United video." And I made you aware, that if you're interested, there are full Atalanta youth games on Youtube where you can watch Diallo, in action, for 90 minutes.

And I don't agree with you that there are United players "who have flattered to deceive at youth level." They've not deceived anyone, those that have been highly regarded have been dominating in the youth teams, but because of whatever reason, they've not carried on in the first team. Why and what, we can only speculate, but in regards to Ravel Morrison, it's been pretty obvious that he had off-field problems which probably derailed his career.

In regards to Diallo, it's true that we don't know how good he'll become.

Ole said this about him on the question: "How good can he become?"
- I can not say. How far is a rope? So it's hard to say. He is in one of the best clubs to reach his best potential, at least. We are quite good at developing young boys and giving them a chance. He must get it. Then it is up to him to take his chances.

According to Solskjaer via the official site, he's done very well in training sessions. From the interview it seems Ole is quite excited to give him minutes soon.

We have a 9 man bench now.. expect him to make the bench a few times.. dont expect him to get minutes against liverpool.. regardless of what happens.

Would be amazing just to take him with the team tomorrow and give him a taste of it

Ole said he will probably feature for U23s.

I'm not reading into this but SAF played Ronaldo days after he joined us; Diallo posts this, which means Ole is going to treat Diallo like SAF treated Ronaldo, which ultimately means Diallo IS coming on in the 2nd half versus Liverpool.

Can see him in the squad tomorrow tbh. If it's 0 - 0 with ten minutes to go, why not just chuck him on.

Scores the winner and the hype will be unreal.

Think he is more likely to get a run out in the U23's first, I think they play on Monday, but not 100% sure.

The hype is cringe, including the comments from Rio not wanting to put pressure on him and in the same breath comparing it to Ronaldo's arrival.

He might be great eventually, but all we have are YouTube clips of youth team games against players who (let's be honest) mostly won't make it as top flight footballers, and a couple of tricks in his few Atalanta appearances. He's played like 4 games of professional football in his life.

Talk of him coming on tomorrow is embarrassing.

Not sure it’s as simple as that tbh. I mean, it’s of course very possible, but I think we would want to pick a ‘bubble’ for him - and if he’s with the first team, I don’t know if we would want him going back and forth.

Also, I don’t think it’s necessary anyway. Typically young players of such profile don’t play reserve football first. They are fed into the team like Martial, Ronaldo or like Gabriel Jesus. He’s been with seniors for a year, played CL and league football already. I’m not sure exactly what he’s supposed to achieve with the reserves. It’s just as physical down there too, referees tend to ref the games blind folded and I’ve seem the way our players get roughed up at that level.

I'm 100% sure that's the reason why he posted that vid.

In my mind he's already scored the winner at Anfield and if he doesn't I think we should be looking to try and get Sancho this window.

If you’re in the first team bubble you can play with the u23s you just get follow different protocols like I remember reading they change in different changing rooms etc. I think Brandon Williams and Mengi and possibly now Pellistri (due to the rumours that he was going to get a game against Watford) are in the first team Bubble but play u23 games.

This makes sense too. It'll be interesting to see how things develop.

Agree but he will need some match fitness considering he has barely played in the last 5 months.

This is a match that will decide his future. Is he gonna be a Ronaldo, or just another James.

I still remember that Bolton debut like it was yesterday for Ronaldo. The excitment at OT, even through the TV was amazing.

Although I agree it doesn't always translate you do get a feeling in youth level that players will be stars.

Fergie knew with the class of 92, he knew Scholes, Giggs and those players would be big players.

La Masia knew the same about Messi, Busquets, Fabregas and so on.

When a youngster comes through and plays with the first team, when he's skipping through first-team seasoned defenders like they aren't there you kind of assume they might be somewhat special.

(Not saying in Amads case but I'm saying for instance Messi in that case).

United also knew Sancho was going to be special from youth level, before he even moved to Dortmund United were interested, the scouts have followed Amad for 4+ years, they see his potential.

The hype is so over the top for this lad it’s unfair. It doesn’t help with the likes of Rio mouthing off or Simon Stone writing an article on him for the BBC or some of the crazy comments on here.

He’s very talented but I think there will be a lot of toys thrown out of the pram over the next few weeks by our reactionary lot on here.
