I'd usually enjoy this sort of drama happening to Chelsea but those comments are just downright disrespectful.

It would be funny if, after retirement, the club Rom made most appearances for, turned out to be Everton.

Yawn non story, 3 weeks ago Lukaku wasn't playing, was dropped for tactical reasons. No surprise he's not happy about it. Should he come out in an interview and say so? No...,
No he should knuckle down, fight for his place and make himself undroppable, the same way the guy he claims to idolize did time and time again. The silver spoon is earned not handed out.

As a player and the fan he claims to be he should have been delighted we were on such good form as we were at the time (and determined to be a part of it), instead he seemed pissed we weren't making it all about him (maybe he knew deep down he wasn't technically good enough to be part of the wonderful football we were playing vs Leicester, Juve, Burnley etc...)

And he can't get the benefit of the doubt because he's got form for this, this is a guy who thought competiting for a spot with prime Diego Costa at age 20 was beneath him.

He has knuckled down and got his place back though?

The quotes were taken out of context, if you read on he actually says he's not happy about it but he's a worker and won't give up!!
Which is what he's done!!

Going to a Tuchel side and complaining that it doesn't suit you, a striker, is pretty much like Nick Pope joining City and moaning that Pep wants him to pass it short.

Aubameyang, Neymar and Mbappe may have something to say about that.

If you look at the whole interview he is lucky they were taken out of context. In context they are part of a much bigger FU to Chelsea than appeared yesterday as he doubles down hard on going back to Inter, states he would not have left if Inter had given him a new contract and then waxes lyrical about dreaming of playing for a big club like Barca or RM. He was a spoofer and a c%&$ when he was here and age has not improved him.

The minute he's not an automatic starter, guy starts talking to the press. How surprising.

Don’t forget I wouldn’t have joined Chelsea if 3 other clubs wanted me or if Inter offered me a new contract!

I think it's hilarious this season is shaping out to be worse than his 1st with United.

Think I need to replay some of those interviews when he rejoined Chelsea spouting about how he was home, always wanted to be back, how much of a better player he was etc., etc., etc. Absolutely loving how the Chelsea season is panning out. :D

What way did he leave Inter?
He kept saying that he is staying, that inter is his "home" and that no "big offer" will make him leave..then as soon as the season started he signed for chelsea and left right away after cheslea bid with a huge offer (its chelsea's record club signing).
Also doesnt help that he was even in talks with Juventus. The guy is an utter money hungry clown with a huge inflated ego.

I was depressed the moment we signed him, and that frankly isn’t going to change until he leaves.

The things he could do to change my opinion of him he simply isn’t capable of doing. He’s a plodder. And I think calling him a flat track bully is wrong. Flat track survivor maybe … but he doesn’t BULLY anyone.
I felt like we signed him to make a big splash and save face when Haaland wouldn’t let BVB take our money.

I'm very surprised, I always thought he was a nice guy who puts his head down, keeps his mouth shut and works hard and was treated unfairly by United and our fans.

Same. He's probably the most overrated footballer in the game, if it weren't for his size and speed he would be in the lower divisions somewhere.

Funny thing is, Inter fans don't want him back after the way he left them.

It still doesn't read well to be honest, but Romano is a cnut for this.
I won't be surprised if Lukaku reached out to Romano for this interview.
Don’t be ridiculous.

Nah, not a cnut, just a chatter and a sh*t-stirrer like Palmeri and the most of Inter fans, if you want to understand the noble origin of such silly characters. :wenger:
For reporting on a Sky Interview?

That’s a parody account

I absolutely love the fact he publicly twerks for Real/Barca, even done it here before our CL game with Barca  . He's a bit like those on xfactor who think they are Celine Dion

The thing with Lukaku for me is that he has an ego which makes him believe he is greater than he actually is.

He himself makes himself overrated.

Like I feel if he had the mentality of someone like Javier Hernandez who was happy to occasionally start a match, but also fine to occasionally sit on the bench - then Lukaku would be a good player for many a team because no one can doubt his ability against some of the lower league teams (which can be hard to score against).

But he thinks he is better than that - he thinks he is RVN, he thinks he is Lewandowski and should start every game and if they don't and the team loses points that they got taught some sort of lesson. He doesn't want to be part of a squad, he wants to be the main man.

You take that ego and see if he can be good or consistent enough; then you watch him on the pitch where he is tripping over his own shoelace every 20 mins and its just not worth the hassle, especially when he doesn't score against the world class clubs or defenders.

Likes to air his dirty laundry in public. This wasn’t a clever move from him, the distraction has potentially destabilised Chelsea’s team and provided a massive headache for Tuchel.

He thinks he’s pretty big time and is clearly a very good player, but he isn’t bigger than their club and is definitely not nearly as good as he thinks he is, definitely not ‘world class’ in my opinion. Over this, Chelsea would do well to put him in his place.

They were not gonna win it without him anyways. These past few months have exposed Chelsea; they never proved they were on the level of City or even Liverpool, teams that have challenged for titles in the past few years.

Placing this on Lukaku is classic Caf scapegoatism.

Sure I'm not doubting that -

But it's more the anxiety I had(people had) after Tuchel turned Chelsea to CL winners; then wondering if he would do it in the PL.

I mean it's not like they didn't try for Haaland; they did and failed - then went for Lukaku.

As soon as they did, I became pretty sure that the chances of a title win was low and didn't make sense.

A surprising number of folks on here forgot just how much of a mercenary Lukaku is. The number of posts about how we should have kept him after he scored a few goals for Chelsea, seems that he's back to his usual self-important tricks.

He definitely gets a cut of his agents fees, he's more active in getting a move every year than any agent or journalists.

I didn't take that from the interview at all,

I look at Lukaku as a driven individual who will work hard for wherever he is in order to get to the top, similar to most players really.

Ah, it's more of Lukaku wouldn't make them title contenders singlehandedly. That I agree with.

He wanted to stay at Inter
Says he only left because they wouldn't give him a new contract
Says he only joined Chelsea after it became apparent he would not get a move to Real, Barca or Bayern
Says he will return to Inter
Says no need for Martinez to join him at Chelsea because he will be back at Inter soon
States Tuchel changed the system on him
Says he is going to talk to Tuchel to work out a system that he likes (assistant coach Rom)

Other than that, totally normal respectful interview.
