He's got some proper questionable business practices in the US and ideas about how workers should work.

His family's money is also not clean but I agree he's not as BAD as the Saudis.
I reckon his dad and Giggsy would get along just fine. :nervous:

I don't think there is anybody on Earth in a position to buy this club that you wouldn't be able to dig out a bucketful of stories written by people with axes to grind.

I'll settle for someone who doesn't oppress, rape and murder.
Pretty sure his family money came from blood diamonds.

He pressed people to go back to the factory during Corona, endangering their lives and those of their loved ones.

These are just some examples, just so people are clear we are not dealing with a grey character but very much with a arsehole on the arsehole scale.

I reckon his dad and Giggsy would get along just fine. :nervous:
I wasn't going to mention that because it was his dad, not him but yeah....

You wonder about his actual wealth though. Was surprised how much he had to struggle to buy Twitter. Asset rich but poor liquidity?
Well he did sell 5.2bn worth of Tesla stock last week.

Poor liquidity ?

He should've tweeted about 4 hours ago, would've sent twitter into a frenzy.

It's annoying cos he's one of the few people in the world that could actually and easily do it

Instead it's just for laughs... Great, I'm laughing my tits off :(

Just when you wonder how we could become even more of a fecking soap opera  To be fair though I’ve now seen Elon musk say more publicly about Manchester United than any of the glazer family.
But if you think about it -- would Elon even noticed whether Chelsea or City had lost 3 games in a row?

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

I doubt he even knows now. He gets thousands of lunatics tweeting him BUY MAN UNITED every day - he’s done this for attention. No coincidence it’s done with a tweet of his showing how “moderate” he is politically.

Dumb as a box of rocks.
He's not dumb -- cunning yes. Not many people have had multiple hits with start-ups. Gates had one basically, Marc Andressen had one.

This box of rocks has had multiple. Granted, he isn't the CTO or the inventor of the technology -- he normally comes in when the technologist is struggling and then he pumps in the money or strategic dirction and helps it take off. Like in stage 1 1/2 of the product lifecycle.

Thats no different to what Apple does and that's why investors love Apple -- they are almost never the inventors of the product segment. But like the 3rd or 4th or 5th enterant. From phones to iPods. They just always marketed themselves as the innovators or pour in so much money in ranging that you associate te product with the company. But I cannot think of one product that they invented.

Musk is like that.

Where his family money came from is on his dad too surely?

What he has done with that money, in the pursuit of renewable energy and exploration, is a fairly noble turnaround in my book. I'm not saying he's a saint, and I don't know enough about that Covid factory story to comment, but there are far worse things people who come from bad money have chosen to do with their lives.

After all, we all support a team from a country who's Queen has a tower full of blood stones and other such colonial loot.

He could buy Manchester united 10 times and wouldn't notice it that much.

Politically he is a nutjob -- an attention whore.

It would surprise me that in 10yrs time, he would have 'lobbied' enough congresspersons to change the constitution that would allow him to run as POTUS. The dumb electorates who love their billionaires will worship him.

As I said, guy's an idiot but he's got marketing power - quite like United in that sense.

Elon Musk says he’s buying Manchester United — but if it’s a joke, the SEC is unlikely to laugh: https://on.mktw.net/3doIvZx

So what does that make him an amazing innovator when young? Lucky? Successful? And of course many will hate him?

Personally I have not thought about him too much until his fake tweet that he's buying my beloved United! haha

I've disliked him the last couple of years and his Model 3 that I have is getting dumber by the day, but if it were a choice between him and an oil nation, I guess I'd take Musk. But knowing him he'd probably back out last minute like the Twitter purchase. Or he's just changing the narrative before something negative is about to break on him or TSLA

Imagine if he meant it as a joke but then decides to go through with it to avoid another bollocking from the SEC.

I'm so excited at the thought of this being true. Will be devastating if it's all just a joke

Even if he were serious - which he clearly isn't - then there's no chance the Glazers would sell; Musk would fail just as bad as anyone else who tried to buy the club.

Manchester United and Liverpool walk out into a raucous Old Trafford, the crowd is electric as the teams line up by the half way line. A mixture of hatred at what has gone before in the 10 years since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement with an outpouring, a pleading for ONE performance. Just one thing to hold.on to through a.turbulant rebuilding process.

The players.go to shake hands. BUT! The lights go out.

Confusion.

Quiet Panic.

....

The speakers break the now hushed theatres silence .....

Elon would be a great owner. He would do what he does with all his projects, which is hire top people to run it and back them up. Owning this team is not a task for the ordinary.

It's a desperate state of affairs when I'm sat here wishing it was actually true. At least it would be better than some sports-washing regime or the Glazers.
With the amount of publicity he generates, combined with our already huge global pull he could probably even make it a worthwhile investment for himself.

Hopefully he fires Murtough into space on a Tesla.
Its like adding 'Ronaldo' to the club but from the financial/corporate side. Imagine Ronaldo on the footballing side (for clicks and publicity) and Elon from the corporate/financial side.

We will be a super-club.

Man it’s
Please don’t be hanging onto a flippant comment, let’s just hope glazers sell. That would solve everything

Never happening in a million years.

I don't know if that's a sadly or not. There's no guarantee of him (or anyone else) putting the right football people in place to make us actually function properly.

Wake up with insomnia to see this. First Casemiro, then Felix, now this. What the hell is going on...
