Playing gegenpress with inverted full-backs in the 10th tier is like running round at the Battle of Hastings with an uzi. Absolutely dominating.

Aim is to get St Margaretsbury to be the best team in the world.

I think I saw one of the creators, Lollujo I think, say that the database only caters as far as Vanarama leagues, so you should absolutely fly up to that stage with the players available to you

So I always download a tactic as I'm useless at that, but I think the first one I picked is actually too strong. It's just hard to go back once you've let the cat out of the bag.

Full backs are playing like Robertson and Alexander-Arnold of a few seasons ago.

https://www.fmscout.com/a-fm24-database-england-lower-leagues.html

Yeah I'm picking up free agents who are just unreal for this level
Always fancied doing something like that. Would always do a National League North/South to world dominance save, but never stuck in a database to take me even lower.

Bottled it big time! Fell off completely. At least there's lots of room for improvement

Piecing together the 2nd season's squad. Found a mint Norwegian/Phillipines right back on a free, but he wants a min. fee release clause of just 120k and his agent wouldn't budge on it. He's going to be worth way more than that as soon as he signs if he puts pen to paper. Doing it anyway. I'll try and give him a new deal ASAP.

Also in for United's Radek Vitek as a backup goalie and signed 3 Scottish players who were upgrades on we had last season. Comes in handy for 'trained in nation' in the Europa League squad.

You'll find in the Scottish league that any player that's good will want a release clause. Due to that every summer window for me is selling two of my best players because their clauses are matched.

He won't want to leave in the first season, so just give him a new contract after 4 months

In this version and in the scottish league, they have a fair chance of wanting to leave after one season.

I think I hired too many staff and we're basically losing a grand a month. The club is £8k in debt and that's only been lessened by prize money from a run in the FA Vase.

Gresley want to poach my assistant manager and the game is giving me the option to ask him to stay. I get £4k in compensation if that happens so I need him to feck off

EDIT: He stayed. Ffs.

Yes I remember once signing a striker in the Scottish league in the summer and he had his release clause matched well before Christmas. I think whoever it was, their window was completely different, or they didn't have one. It was a very old version of the game.

He turned them down, perhaps that was coded into the game. Ended up giving him a new contract with a higher release clause, and at least anohter 1 on top of that during the campaign.

Need a break so looking for a new save. Started an unemployed one but interested in starting a save at a club in a lower league with a good youth system, anyone aware of one?

My assman, physio and under 18s manager are being constantly approached but they reject everything. I'm 'asking them to stay' but smashing my fist on the table and telling them they'll regret this to try and force them to be angry and leave. I need the compensation

Sounds like a funny save. Any FA Cup run luck to boost money?

Ended up getting the Orgryte IS job in the Swedish First division as they're hanging above the relegation zone.

We're in the QF of the FA Vase, so hopefully I can go on to win that. Even with that prize money we won't break even though but I think being in debt is just part of being at this level. I can't even sell players because they're only on semi-pro part time contracts.

It's good fun though yeah, enjoying it.

Playing with United, and we became all conquering in the first season, doing the treble. Won the league with a record of 35 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss. Osimhen scored 48 goals across all comps.

Selling players is the biggest improvement in this version. I was able to dump Maguire, Lindelof, Dalot, AWB, Antony, Sancho and McTominay for big fees in the first season and then sign a bunch of players by spreading the fees over future installments.

Dragusin and Lukeba at CB and Rb (IFB) have been superb, as has Maatsrn at LB rotating with Shaw. Developed young players. Mount, Bruno, Mainoo and Eriksen in midfield has been awesome, plus a couple of wonder kids developing really well. Signed Olise for the RW, and Kvara for the LW. Tactics are working a treat. Destroying everyone.

Second season I sold Varane, Casemiro and Bruno for huge fees to Saudi. Bruno went for 150m alone. Got another 50m for Casemiro, 30m for Varane, Newcastle bid 62m for Shaw, which I couldn’t turn down, and I sold Hannibal for 21m. My initial transfer budget for the second season was 150m, but after adjusting wages down (they gave me 5.4m p/week to spend), I got that up to 200m plus sales which need up with over half a billion to spend. At that point I was able to sign Bellingham for 240m, 60m of which is addons, Wirtz for 90m, and Tchouameni for 74m. So plus Mount, Mainoo, Eriksen and some wonder kids, my midfield is stacked.

The best part of the game so far has been experimenting with some really fun new systems using the IFB and a Libero. We are playing like 1970 Brasil.

My fixture list for the second season had me play City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham in the first 6 league games, plus a midweek super cup tie against Liverpool again. Beat them 4-3 in the super cup, but then tweaked my system using the data hub information to understand the positions my libero was taking up, and then beat City 3-0, Liverpool 3-0, Tottenham 2-0, and Chelsea 4-0.

Across all four games I averaged 62% possession, and only conceded a total of 5 shots on target (1.25 per game). Defensively this tactic is monstrous. Offensively, combing two wide players as Wingers (att) with the instruction to cut inside, and two Mezzalas (one att and one Sup) in midfield with a move into channels instruction, is proving devastating. I set the Mezzalas to “mark tighter”, so they don’t abandon all defensive responsibility, and it works well. My dm is a regista, so he steps up more. This is important because my LB as an IWB and my CB as Libero, both step into DM during build up.

The key to United is shifting out some of the high earners, like Martial, Sancho etc., for decent fees. It frees you up so much to sign players. Now, even with Bellingham, Tchouameni and Wirtz, I’m only the 4th highest payroll in the league (4.5m). City are spending a million a week more than me. Liverpool and Chelsea spending 5.2 and 5.3 respectively. After the treble, pretty much everyone wants to sign for me, and by using addons well and future installments, I was able to add players like Antonio Silva, Diomande, Guehi, Paqueta and Olise as pure squad depth. And they are all awesome, meaning we rotate constantly and keep players fresh without dropping a level. Mount as a BBM, in the first season, has been unrealistically superb.

Anyone else find themselves conceding a lot of goals from the opponents first shot on target? Won Serie A 3 seasons on the trot with Cessna but concede from the first shot loads!

Enjoying my second season with Motherwell and being involved in the Europa League. Squad is much better than last season and it needs to be because of the extra fixtures.

Not going to win the league. We've lost 3 (2 completely undeserved) after 14 matches and are 9 points behind undefeated Celtic. Having fun though!

Europa League is going well. Scraped into the group stage on pens after a 4-4 aggregate draw with Mijdtyland. Top of the big group thingy right now with 13 from 5. There's no way are we falling out of the top 24 even if losing the last 3 but obviously we can shoot for the top 8 now. Playing some decent teams though so it might be touch and go (Spurs, Wolfsburg, AZ).

Edit: Forgot to say, in the Viaplay Cup final against Hibs soon. Decent chance of a first trophy.

Yes. It was a constant thing and it fecked me off. Every long shot went in and it didn't matter who against and what quality of the players.

He normally rolls up with very good PA(177 in this current save, i bumped it up to 195 :p) but the game fecks with his hidden attributes which meant he never reaches it. Same with Mainoo as well who was absolutely screwed by getting PA similar to McT(around 145-150). Nah, feck that.
Quoting myself but, feck FM for underrating Mainoo and giving him a PA of 145 even if it was a lower roll rng. There's no world it should ever be that low. Good thing I bumped it up to 188. I'm a better judge than FM clearly. :wenger:

They’re broken. Shouting to encourage your players more than twice a game should never really make them frustrated. Maybe no reaction but too frequently the game goes too overboard with them.

Eugh, why did I take control of staff hiring/firing?

I think it's important to have good coaches, medical team and scouts. Clubs would always bring in crap ones if leaving it down to them in the past. Thing is, I've just had 17 staff members go out of contract and I'm going to have to spend ages sorting through it all.

Last time I played FM there wasn't as many staff members or different types of jobs.

Edit: Spent an hour on that and I hadn't got very far. Can't be arsed. Just got a new technical director instead, he can do it.

Won the Swedish First Division and in my first season in the Premier Division finished 5th, just outside the European spots. The AIK job came up as they severely underperformed so I've applied for that as Orgryte have no money.

Fans angry about me signing a 16 year old from Worcester City for £0 on £190 a week.

They're all expert scouts of non-league football and have decided he'll never be good enough for the first team. Even if he isn't, it's not the point! I might get a few quid for him one day, and if I don't I still like to have competetive youth and reserve sides where possible.

Seriously needs to bulk up though!

I set my Dad back as the chairman for my save but he's only gone and sold the club in the second season.

Some bloke called Jack Eastwood has bought us and injected 14k into the finances

It's mad when you have to play all these European qualifiers. Just got into the CL group stage after 3 qualifying rounds vs Servette, Besiktas and Brondby. Feels like a full European campaign already and we're only at the end of August. 11 competetive matches played already in all comps.

In other news Celtic have signed a 33 year-old Neymar on a free. Bastard scored an 80th minute equaliser against me too in a 1-1 draw where I was down to 10 men from the 27th minute. Went down to 9 men in injury time.

Don't bottle it, don't bottle it, don't bottle it. Tempting fate by posting this but could be on for the for the title.

Unbeaten in all domestic comps so far. Won the Viaplay cup, in the QF of the Scottish FA Cup, and 11 points clear although Celtic have a game in hand.

Champions League wasn't great. Got knocked out in that big group stage with 8 points from 8 games.

That new Champions League format is pissing me off. I’ve won Serie A 3 times in a row about to be 4th but my team are bottle jobs against elite competition.

The old Champions League you could play your reserves to get 3rd then go all out for Europa, this I get through to knock outs then my team leave themselves with a massive deficit after the away 1st leg, it’s happened every season.

Give me Europa!

Over time, I have just taken to using 3 of them. The others all seem to be touch and go.

I encourage if we are drawing, berate if we are losing and praise if we are winning late into the game. Seems to get mostly positive reactions if I stick to just those.

Won the Scottish domestic treble with Motherwell in season 3. Not sure how much longer I'll continue this save.

One more season for definite to defend the SPL title and then it depends if I've got the appetite to try and ultimately win the Champions League with them. Right now I'd say no, new save with a small club looking likely. The kind of save that @Solius is doing looks appealing but I might start a touch higher.

As former FA Cup winners and a Greater Manchester team, it would be nice to lead Bury FC to glory. Sheffield FC a possibility as the oldest club in the world, and I've found a team called Route One Rovers, best name ever!

Might look around in different countries to find some obscure team with an interesting past.

Edit: Just remembered the existence of FC Santa Claus. A possibility too if I can a find database where Finnish lower leagues are playable.

Never thought about doing that. Not a bad idea.

Yeah I would recommend starting higher. Like someone said, the divisions im on aren’t in the original game so FM generates base players way above its level. The results are unpredictable and cause financial issues. There’s also just so many promotions needed  I’m still well invested though and it will be worth it. Need to win one of my final 2 games to get my second promotion on the spin and reach level 9 (I think).

It's tempting though! Sounds like you're having a lot of fun and I'm loving the name of that club I found - Route One Rovers. Tier 10 I think.

Might even impose a couple of rules - must play with a target man, no players under 6 foot tall considering the team name.
