If the ball fell to Antony instead of Forson for Mainoo's winner then the game would have ended 3.3 or 4.3 and that moment Antony would have lost the ball and fallen to the ground claiming a free kick no doubt.

Get rid he's useless.

A grim signing. Although Sancho has a poor attitude, he at least shows glimpses of ability. Antony is a hard worker, but shows very little ability.

He's not going to be good enough. I don't see any realistic prospect he can reverse this as there is no indication the required ability is there to be a Man Utd forward. You could count good performances on one hand, so there isn't much to latch onto to say he can do it.

You can't even cling on to any potential. He's shite and that's about it

Reckon Ten Hag will persist with him, hoping he’ll suddenly spring into an £86m superstar and prove everyone wrong.

Expecting anything from him anymore is sheer madness. He's absolutely dreadful, comes across as a bit of a tit and I hope we're planning on binning him this summer.

Unfortunately, He , Sancho and some others will be hard to shift. On a positive at least we get 250k a week back of another Anthony.

Aye, Antony indeed scored a goal, but it was a sitter into open net and his goal celebration was cringey.
I wouldnt mind seeing a lot more cringey celebrations... actually i dont see them enough from Antony. If he starts scoring, he can do the most cringey celebrations for all i care.

I always like to support underdog so it's good to see Antony overcoming see adversity by scoring and assisting.

It's been less than a week since he scored a goal. Let's not write him off just yet
We'll potentially end up with a bunch of mctominays and antonys where everyone makes the team shite, no one produces chances for others, but the odd goal gets you the spot.

I know ten hag isn't a director of football but what kind of coach watches Antony and thinks he is good enough for a top pl team

I despair at the posts on here. He passed into an open goal against a league 2 side where rest of match he failed to beat a player or offer any threat from the wing. He then gave one of the worst sub cameos ever at Wolves, apart from one tackle every time he got the ball he either was muscled off it, ran into trouble or passed directly to oppo. His delaying and losing ball led to the third goal. He is awful, and its on ETH who keep playing him.

But he apparently asked for and was given a strong input and veto over transfers, hence why most are his ex players or from Dutch league. He also identified Antony, who had played for him for 2 full seasons at Ajax, as a must have player. For me that is why have no trust or belief in ETH.

If it were in another field of work, he’d have been sacked ten times over for being shit. I’ve always wanted him to come good but there’s no redeeming qualities of him. We need to cut our losses and just get rid of him. If ETH persists with him, sack him too.

Exactly. The desire to always give certain players or managers time or more chances is bizarre. Antony's performances are almost beyond satire. Just watch what he does on the pitch. he should not play this season again and we need to get rid. This is on ETH and he needs to stop being so stubborn and obsessed with former players and drop him for good. Its going to damage team morale for a start.

A cringey goal celebration will always be a price worth paying, but let’s be sure to not get carried away with the goal itself. The ball fell to Antony who was five yards away from an open net. Brilliant he was not that day.

Wanted Forson / Amad to get his minutes today, just to show him, first squad isn't somekind of low hanging fruit there for grabs.

Needs to zip it, McTominay certainly can at times, so he should too. Other than that, hopefully summer will verify all these fake footballers in the team.

We definitely look better on the right with him benched. If there is something serious to Shaw, though, perhaps we could try Antony as LB? Lindelof didn’t really work.

With the way he played as a left winger not too long ago? Keep him away from that left flank at all costs.

Probably the best game he's had for United today, at least that I can remember.

I’ve had a few beers but hear me out, I think it’d be worth trying him at LB if Shaw is out vs Luton.

Amrabat & Lindelof are woeful there. At least it’s a left footer.

Shock horror we go on a good run when he's benched (though also due to having Cas and Shaw back). It really was a strange signing as just watching a 10 min vid of his goals and assists for Ajax in his final season was enough to see he was very limited.

I genuinely think Amad is a better player and should be getting his sub appearances. If we could sell Antony that would be great, but unfortunately like VDB and Sancho he'll probably sit around and run his contract down and go for nothing.

I completely agree with you, but it's not gonna happen.

It will for sure. Ten Hag has a decent record for youth here. especially if we get some good form going. I can see him being slowly introduced. And then making a judgement based on his performances

To those who are wishing him to be given a role of LB or RB..this is a specialised role and even career defenders could struggle filling if that's not their core skill.

I'd understand it if the guy had amazing crossing/passing ability to sort of counter his defensive deficiencies but he ain't even got that

It's him, Amrabat or Lindelof. Pick your poison.

No one from academy can fill in? Like Brandon few seasons back.
I don't know why we loaned Fernandez to be honest - especially with Reguillon not staying on - so I think our registered LB cover (Shaw, Malacia, Williams, Fernandez, arguably Martinez are all injured or on loan), then Dalot we might as well keep RB as AWB is injured as well.

If you take into account that bread and butter games in the Eredivisie are comparable to the quality found in the bottom half of the Championship, and that nearly every side presses high up the pitch, it's not hard to see why Antony had some success there.

Before we signed him he had the same number of assists from two games with Ajax as he had for the season in which we signed him (his best season).

We've signed an average-to-good player who, to be fair to him, is trying his guts out, but who hasn't the skill or ability to penetrate against low block defences.

The style of play in the Eredivisie and Bundesliga contrasts massively to the Prem. There is so much more space in behind defences that it can massively inflates a player's stats.
