Huge goal for Spurs. Think they'll easily finish top 4.

Typical Brighton unable to even hold out for a draw. No doubt it will be their cup final when they play United again with cameras in the dressing room for such a big game.

Another "surprising" last minute goal for a home team.
The PL tries too hard to be exciting, but it's been found out already, for me at least.

If we want to have any chance of making the CL, we need to beat Villa tomorrow. No excuses whatsoever.

Will be a pretty meaningless game on the last day of the season. Maybe Europa conference riding on it.

It’s fixed for entertainment, I’m pretty convinced of it. Not against United, it’s not an anti-Man United thing, we benefit too. And I’m not suggesting teams are match-fixing, it’s more of a situation where the PL have figured out how to nudge all the little variables in a certain direction to make it more entertaining. Feels in a weird place for me, maybe I’m just getting old and the magic isn’t there anymore. It feels like a perfectly moulded product at this point.

Bit of a silly post to be honest. We aren't far off top 4 and if we play well enough we can get there, and we'd deserve it.
Not really. If we get there fair enough, but based on the season so far we are miles off.

Yeah, because we've missed key players almost all season. I think we have the potential to look a lot better from a couple weeks ago to the end.
10 points isn't 'not far off'.
We have a game in hand over spurs and we have a 6 pointer vs Villa coming up. And there is a fair chunk of the season left.

How plausible is this whole '5th place can get champions league' thing? :nervous: Not really looked into it.

With Spurs winning we really need to win tomorrow to beat Villa. Our crap goal difference effectively means we're one more point behind.

Completely agree, it's not for or against anyone. And probably doesn't change the fact that the best team wins the league.
It's just that makes the winners like "hard earners", like us vs Forest or Brighton. We should have won them anyway and comfortably.

We've never won away against decent opposition under Ten Hag. 10 points in 14 games is huge for an average team like us to make up.

We aren't average with key players back though. Villa are pretty rocky, and Spurs have been less convincing of late too.

We are. The scoreline last week flattered us. Play like that tomorrow we'll get comfortably beaten.

Thats quite bullshit to be fair. We beat West Ham in a game they didn't really create too much in themselves, and we could afford to stay in 2nd gear as we took leads and extended it at good points in the game.

Have you seen Villa and Spurs performances of late? Villa have 1 win in 5 in all comps and looked dogshite with a full side against Chelsea midweek.

Spurs themselves scraped a win today when Brighton were pretty wasteful, they didn't look convincing against Everton in the draw prior and had a shaky end to Brentford before that.

What's your point?

We’ve also already played most of our tough away games.
Don’t argue with nonsense

Spurs had significantly more shots and the higher xg against Brighton today. The opposite of us against West Ham. Convince yourself otherwise, just don't be surprised when we lose games like last week on other days with a similar level of performance.

It's mental. Theres a lot of the season left to go, we're actually looking a lot better and the teams above us look a bit rockier. There's absolutely no reason we cant continue a push for the top 4

XG as a sole stat to judge games is massively flawed. I watched both games and it's very clear that Spurs were quite fortunate today. In fact league leaders Liverpool were even luckier!

Our performance last week was fine, as I said we didn't need to up the gears because we scored at right moments of the game. We didn't really look like we were hanging on at any point of the game whatsoever. I think we won those types of games 9 times out of 10. Most teams do.

Saying "we play like that and we get beaten" is just bias and ignores the momentum of the game. It's relative, and there are various games where the teams above us have needed to ride some luck, or have been off the boil. Importantly the opponent we've got next have been pretty shite by their own higher standards this season in 4 out of the last 5 games.
