That was the best cross I've seen him deliver in his United career. Probably helped that he didn't have to take a touch and think about it.

Overall, a good performance. One of our best players on the pitch today.

In fine form at the moment, and is improving leaps and bounds.

Couple of superb crosses, one for the winner and other for the diving heading attempt by Hojlund.

Defensively it was a nightmare on his side, the space between him and Varane was too big and Ramsey had too many great chances on that side. It was like replay, same move so many times. Looks like we adapted and shut down that gap.

Funny how things change so quickly. His blunder clearance could have made him villain today but Villa player missed, his beautiful cross made him hero.
Yes, that's something he needs to learn or at least get more communication from Varane. It didn't help that the gap between midfield especially when Mainoo was playing further up was exploited like 10-15 times though.

I think his mentality to keep going physically and being brave on the ball though is something to commend with the way we play football.

He usually hits those ones way too high but got it perfect. Hopefully he’s been working on it as he’s been pushing on a lot in the last few months.
Yeah, he usually blasts them, he has the technique in spades and this one was perfect. Let's hope he makes it a feature of his game.

Christ, did you not see him almost gift Luiz a winner.
Sarcasm or not, how can you defend that ball ? It was in swinging, he knew there is a man behind and so can't leave it , he was off balance and he tried his best.

A better question would be how was Luiz free there ?

Seems logical that an attacking right back needs to be good at crossing doesn’t it.

I reckon AWB is giving tackling lessons to Dalot. His tackling has been very good recently.

Our players, especially our rightbacks are often not appreciated for how well they defend. And Dalot even more-so because its clear that AWB has some aspects where he's one of the best defensively. But make no mistake Dalot is on average a hardworking, ball winning fullback and he does have some quality to cross like he did for McTom's winner, or score like he did previous in the season and for Portugal from outside the box.

But there are weaknesses and drawbacks - even today although he played very well and was probably our 2nd best player just behind Onana, he still had a clearence straight to Luiz who missed the chance firing at Onana for example. His concentration isnt very good and he can often frustrate you with poor technique and accuracy or his decision when going forward with his crosses, passes and shots.

If he puts it all together in one performance he's a top fullback. But he usually doesnt do that. You get parts of what he can do.

For United he is usually a hard working, ball winning defender with some frustrating end product. He has the ability to be more than that but thats what we usually get. And of that type of player, as a ball winning defender running up and down the pitch but just okay going forward he's very good and has played well this season.

A lot of posters want a fullback with consistent quality attacking play and he doesn't have that. And while he has the ability to do it sometimes, im not sure it'll ever be consistent. It goes the other way as well - the players they suggest are playing in a different system with 3 CBs that we dont play and they only need to track back as much as a winger does for us and they dont defend as well as Dalot.

As a defensive fullback he's very good and the area that he's better than AWB is in the air. Today he defended well overall, despite the mistake and came up with a good cross for the winner.

I think he gets bashed on by United fans on here too much… just his blocks today were brilliant, and then there’s that cross…

He put in two of the best crosses I've ever seen him make today. He is playing very well.

I think it has been for most of his time since coming back from his loan in Italy, its just that when you're constantly compared to a fullback who is a specialist at tackling and one on one defending nobody else is going to seem that good at it. But when compared with other fullbacks he was/is

He’s been great this season, especially these last couple of months. The cross for the winner was immense, striker’s dream.

Great today. Absolutely miles ahead of AWB.

I hope we don’t move him over to the left.

He's among United's very best players at evading the press. And that is such a strong fundamental aspect to have in your arsenal as a fullback in the present game that everything else can be worked around at the age of 24.

Not necessarily, he has other strengths which make him useful to the team but if he can add consistent high quality crosses then he could be world class.

I've slated him loads but he's playing so well of late. Hope he keeps it up, really good for us.

Been having a good run of games. Theres a mistake in him, especially at marking the far post, but great crosses and put in a shift.

Looking over my shoulder.
I don't care what anyone says, performances like today are exactly why I've said he's got immense potential and have tried to provide context to those, who don't see the talent in him.

Almost a one man right wing at times.
He had an immense engine, and I’d argue only Walker is a faster fullback in the league. He id also good at taking on a defender. Cutting out some of his defensive blunders, albeit one time today. Great potential and good player.

Maybe I'm being harsh but I thought he could've adjusted his body and avoided kicking it back into the danger zone. Bruno was free on the wing.

Looks to be improving all the time, and maybe what we hear about his training is paying off. Great game.

I'm still drooling over that cross. My goodness where did that come from???

It was so beautiful.

He needs to keep working at his crosses as it's clear he can make some good ones.

I remember when he first arrived and put in a cross similar to that, and I was shocked and happy that we finally had a fullback who could whip in a decent cross.

It's taken a long time until we've seen that again from him, but I'll take it.

Anyone noticed he crosses better when he does it at first touch? That one was perfectly placed and with excelent power so McTominay only had to make contact and get a power header.

No way. I am a right back myself . You are off balance , trying to jump to cover the back post header but the ball dipped and he had to put his leg on.

He made many high intensity sprints to get back goalside and then also to provide Garnacho with the overlap. Hopefully the one game a week will give him enough rest because I recall last season thinking he was getting tired the initial pre-World Cup form.

It's such a shame we play such tumescent individualistic football. He would be an even bigger asset on the right if we knew how to play the ball and get our players into space without it coming from mainly interceptions, breaks in play and in transition.

2G + 3A already for the season. Way ahead of our other defenders in terms of attacking contributions

First time cross, something that is difficult to defend when you don't have time to set.
And something our attackers will love.

He did well defensively on the whole but was weird when he was on the line and decided to pass to garnacho in our own box who was under pressure

 I remember in that same game he had some other chances to cross and so while the posts were all about how we now have a rightback with great crossing, I felt like he can still improve on it despite the really good one. Then in all the time since then there have been more and more negative posts about him and I'v tried to remember that cross, and some of his really nice goals for Portugal etc. and defend him. After a lot of duff ones... Yes great cross and again showing that he can do it.
