Aye, Lyng posted that comment at the same time as I did. The contrast
It's even funnier as all of them could apply to him in this game.

He was good, indescribable and poor in equal measure today.

He is an absolutely incredible player and we’re extremely lucky to have him. Put in an absolute shift at CM, DM and CB today and was dead on his feet by FT. A proper captain!

I don't think it can be overstated how an attacking midfielder was asked to play CB for over 30 minutes in a high tempo derby vs one of the best teams in Europe, and he slotted in pretty seamlessly. Ask most attacking midfielders to perform that role and they would look like a deer in headlights.

This is correct. Anybody slagging him off after that game doesn’t deserve to celebrate the result.
He don’t have to be DeBruyne, Rodri, MacAllister or Caicedo. He is Bruno motherfecking Fernandes and he is fantastic just the way he is. Put some respect on his name, Our captain!

You heard right:D Back four was Dalot-Maguire-Bruno-Lindelöf for the first extra time half and then at the second extra time half it was Dalot-Maguire-Bruno-Anthony

Maguire blasted forward so was Bruno pretty much alone with Onana for most of the part when we attacked

It’s no surprise we were a much better attacking side, when he was back at centre half. He’s everything that’s wrong with Utd when he plays as a 10 or an 8.

- Lost the ball for their goal
- Complained all game
- Decided to venture forward as the last man and conceded a 5v2 counter
- Gave away the ball so many times when the game was crying out for some composure

And lastly, how difficult is it to place the ball on the line for the corner? Imagine us scoring from that and being asked to retake.

If we lose today, people would have different things to say.

I don't understand how people cannot see this. Time and time again he costs us. He was brilliant under Solskjaer, but those days are long gone.

He was better at CB today than he was when he was in midfield, he was very poor for most of the game but apart from a few questionable moments where he made a dumbass decision back there he looked alright.

The rest of his performance well he is a big part of why we allow so much space between the lines and it’s only amplified when he is paired with McT.

Struggle to see Martinez winning his place back, to be honest. Lovely little partnership back there to finish the match.

Always gives it 100%, no one can ever claim otherwise. But we will never get back to challenging for major honours with Bruno as our talisman. I just think the team needs to go in a different direction.

If he moves to Saudi for a chunky transfer fee, no hard feelings. Else, he's another leech over the hill who hasn't realised he's not good enough for this level.

He played center back for a while as a youth player

Can't believe some of the posts I'm reading here. I'm glad the actual match going fans appreciate Bruno, unlike some of the ungrateful, entitled little bitch 'supporters' in here

You don't have to place the ball on the line, as long as a bit of the ball is over the line it's fine.

Yep. I noticed this disparity a couple of years ago. He gets his name sung more than any other United player and yet he gets slagged off on the caf in a way that's laughable at times. Ran himself into the ground again today but he'll still get called a bad leader who is a determent to the team. What kind of leader plays CB on one leg for 40 minutes to drag his team over the line?!

I've got no problem with Bruno except how he is utelised in our system under our managers.

He plays like a hard working version of Mesut Ozil as a single high CAM trying to make the final pass.

Not only does this make our game quite predictable (probably why single CAM systems are not utelised like back in day with riquelme & sneidjer) but also that we then lose the ball at times very high up the pitch it leads to counter attacks where our midfield is easily exposed; especially when another midfielder has joined the attack high up the pitch aswell like Mctominay,

There is 2 main aspects of Bruno Fernandes's game -

1) His Creativity
2) His Hard Work

For me, we need to stop using him for his creativity and use him more for his hard work which happens the deeper he plays in midfield as a central midfielder rather than CAM. I think this is how he plays for Portugal aswell, as a CM rather than the 'final CAM'.

His best game last season came when he played next to Casemiro in a double pivot because Eriksen was out injured. He then became a deeper CM destroyer with the ability to pick a progressive forward pass rather than be the player who focuses on making the final killer pass that can either lead to our benefit or our own downfall.

For me, he needs to stop being used as our Hard Working Mesut Ozil & start using him as our replacement for Fred. He needs to play deeper so he becomes that hard working destroyer that has the ability to make a quick and precise progressive pass that can link our play from deep rather than always focus on making the final killer pass in our final 1/3rd.

Stop complaining about Bruno's moaning. That's his trait. He isn't going to change at this age.

Had a bloody brilliant game effort wise. Captains performance

I know there's bad points to his game- particularly the "help me referee" look he gives whenever someone tackles him- but come on, acknowledge the effort at least. He looked in agony in extra time and still kept going.

It's similar with Rashford, all the good and some of the bad points were on display again today.
You can’t question his personality traits in terms of commitment. I don’t think anybody has. The point I made was that for all the talk that ‘we can’t cope without Bruno, he’s the only one who creates for us and it’s everyone else’s fault that his stats are poor’….That isn’t really actually the case and I’d argue we function far better and look far more dangerous through Garnacho, Hojlund and even Rashford when Bruno reigns it in or isn’t involved in the play.

No one can use him like that, he is far too tactically inept to be used in that role. Yes he runs around a lot but rarely does his running around lead to anything like a cohesive press it just leaves holes where he was supposed to be, he doesn't really close people down with anyhope of actually winning the ball he is too poor a tackler for that, he runs around like a headless chicken and has the tactical awareness of that headless chicken, add to that his penchant for flopping the second anyone breathes around him and his love for absolutely unnecessary highlight reel tricks to gain about half a yard of space or attempted flicks that usually end up losing possesion instead of playing the simple ball, playing him deeper would be suicidal.

He was superb as the deeper midfielder and then as deepest player. He actually was way more patient and worked the ball around, moved it around and ensure we kept the ball to pin Liverpool in their half/box. That was the key to playing like how we did with that attacking formation. Along with Eriksen by his side.

His Roy of the Rovers bit where he tries to cover the whole field is very frustrating, but at least he gives everything for the team.

Felt like he was one of the problems when we were under it in 90 mins and then felt like one of the reasons we won it in extra time. Overall can't grumble.

Can’t grumble but grumbles regardless at working too hard.

Fair points although the complaining one( some might say the last point too) is just standard Bruno. I wish he complained more when Mcallister should have been sent off.

He did some things well too while being moved around a lot and did show some fight. My feelings on him are well documented but he wasn't terrible yesterday, sure as hell wasn't great like some are claiming either.

It leaves massive open spaces that they were just passing through with ease. There's a point where it becomes detrimental. I don't knock the effort and wish more of our players had his work rate. I'm not in the sell him camp, but it's ok to criticize him for stuff.

You said “can’t grumble” though, and now you’ve responded by grumbling more

Thought it was maybe his best spell of a game this season in the latter stages when he was basically playing as a holding midfielder and then centre back. Sort of commendable, but also a bit telling as to how frustrating he's been as an AM this season. It was almost like when he had to do a specific positional job he was really good again, regardless of the fact it was a defensive position.

Made it all a bit farcical and ridiculous at times seeing him as a one man defence while Harry galavanted heroically forward, but oh so entertaining seeing as we pulled it off!

I've been to a few matches this season and that comment is not true, at least where I sit -

If anything it's more apparent when you watch it at the ground, his positioning and pressing is really a detriment to the rest of his game.
