The injury from the Andy Carroll tackle seems to have ended him. I remember he was actually really good in his first game back after that injury, but pretty sure he's been terrible in every match since.
Maybe you're right, he wasn't the same after that injury

It was the period United looked good and Rashford had his purple patch, since his injury United and Rashford have Declined.

He’s not great defensively, but he adds a lot to attack. Much better in control from that back when he was on, and played some wonderful passes, one that probably should have won us the game in normal time.

Kept things ticking when he came on. Needed him to make the right passes

People were saying not to bring him on in the match day thread, but I felt he brought a much needed calmness to our chaotic game.

He just doesn't have the legs to play in central midfield, which is where he always gets stuck these days.

Maybe if Bruno ever got 10 mins off he'd have a use, but we're even open than usual when he's in the middle. Hope he can get a nice contract someone where sunny next season.

He made more passes then anyone else on the pitch after he came on. Definitely played his part in us getting back into things.

He would still be a useful option if we had the right player to put next to him, meaning a DM with high mobility and good positional awareness. Alas, we don't have that player.

If we are able to transition to a team that is able to dominate and control the game, then we should keep him for as long as possible. His deep passing and vision is second to none.

Apparently he's unhappy with his situation, as per Fabrizio Romano. Why can't our just for once shut the feck up during international breaks?

Maybe read the actual quotes before going into a fit of rage?

Even though some of his passes went a little wayward vs Liverpool, he undoubtedly had a positive impact for us. He was always showing for the ball in comparison to Mctominay's usual hiding job.

I would start him vs Brentford so we can watch him silence those weird fans who were booing him at the Gtech.

"I have previously stated that I am not satisfied with not playing, but it's not something that keeps me up at night,

“The team is performing, and I must respect the role you have alongside. For my part, it has been about working hard and focusing on being fresh for every game, and I am. It is easier now to accept my role than it would have been before.

"I have had a conversation with Erik (ten Hag) about being unhappy with the situation and wanting to play as much as possible, but I am available and need to be available for the team, which I am and always will be."

"He said it was the team he had chosen, and Kobbie (Mainoo) is doing well, and the rest of the midfield is also performing well, so there is competition for places, which is expected when playing for a top club. There is great competition within the team."

Seems like perfectly measured and reasonable comments?

Yeah he seems like a calm and measured guy, but he surely knows how those quotes are going to be bandied about. Anyway, happy or not , Eriksen is pretty low on the list of issues we have.

You're the one arguing our players should "shut the feck up" during international breaks after Eriksen gave the least controversial answers possible to questions about his playing time. You clearly didn't read the interview.

Yeah I could never understand that. Compare that with the reaction from Sunderland fans towards Amad (granted it might be different if he plays for us against Sunderland, but I somehow doubt it.)

I appreciate his talent but I think he needs to seek other opportunities. I think some leagues won't take him due to his health conditions but I think he could be alright in La Liga.

Nothing wrong with what he said. Also it's a consequence of being out of other competitions before the new year but having a big squad. All of a sudden your games are cut in half and you don't need to rotate much, and you end with plenty of unhappy players.

He’s been a decent enough signing considering it was free, but everyone knows it’s time to move him on. The complete opposite of what we need in midfield.

The issue is United have been so crap this season that it is now only 1 game a week. Sucks to be a squad player in that scenario but the players only have themselves to blame.

He just needs to stay fit and be ready, but I can't see him starting ahead of Casemiro/Mainoo/Bruno when its only 1 game a week.

Nothing wrong with those comments.

He's still a useful in certain games, but I don't think he should be a starter. He was doing well last season until he picked up that injury, I don't think he's ever fully gotten back up to speed since.

He should definitely be starting in the 10 a little bit more.. I’d be interested to see how he does with Mainoo and Case behind him, we saw Sunday the balls he can play so he can definitely still play a part.

Completely understandable why Eriksen would want to play more at this stage of his career - and that reflects well on him.

But also understandable why he'll struggle to get many minutes here this season or next, and if he leaves I'd be very surprised if it was to a comparable sized club to us.

I'm sure there's still a few years in him at a mid / lower table club in a major league, or a bigger club in a smaller league. And it would be best for both parties if he left at the end of the season and got himself a move where he can get regular games.

That pass for Rashford's chance at the end of normal time was a beauty. Did very well overall I thought.

Maybe can play a part as an impact sub but his legs are gone. Certainly no good as an 8 or 6 CM where we’ve seen him deployed far too often. His corners are better than Bruno’s mind you.

Unless we're getting two new quality first team midfielders, we should be doing everything we can to keep Eriksen as a squad member.

Media definitely being disingenuous running with this as a headline story.

Of course, it's a United player.

He could have said "I'm really happy with my play time at the moment" and the media would have gone with "Erik Ten Hag breeding LAZY culture at Man Utd"

100% agreed. Better all round if he leaves at the end of the season, hopefully with an FA cup medal around his neck.

I was one of those worried about him getting run over as the deepest midfielder. But yeah he helped us keep the ball and used it really well

Could not agree more. There is a definite role for him even now as part of rotation of midfielders in a team that values the ball and controls the game.

We have a few players like this who are better for me in a squad role due to either age or their injury record. Like Varane and Casimero his position will depend on other comings and goings. Depending on how/when Shaw comes back he may even fall into this category too.

I like that attitude from Eriksen. Squad players should be itching to get on. For him to be in the twilight of his career and want do more than just pick up a nice paycheck is good to see.

Hes a nice option to have because he can play some lovely passes that few players in our team can. Hes not capable of being a started any more though. Too lightweight and we have no control or bite with him in the middle. A great super sub.

Eriksen was really good tonight for Denmark against Switzerland playing in the Bruno-position and spraying precise passes all over the place. Good corners and a dangerous free kick as well. There has been a lot of discussion in Denmark due to Eriksens lack of minutes at Manchester, but he answered his critics with a good display tonight.

Sry but apart from that one freekick I didn't really notice Eriksen in this game. So it was at best a solid, anonymous display from him. Denmark in general was very underhelming, especially in offensive part. Switzerland even dominated them in the second half and we ourselves are not very good at the moment.
