Just can’t see a way forward with him. We (likely) have an even lower bar of top 5 this season and we’re 9 points off with 8 games remaining and Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle still to play.
i really don’t want to watch us against Liverpool and Arsenal.

I’ve said it time and time again, you can’t play his brand of whatever the hell that’s supposed to be and give up the midfield. That’s where games are won and lost. You can’t cede control, I don’t understand why he doesn’t see this
Yes, it is just pure chaos, by design. How is that supposed to bring any level of sustainability? And what level of athlete is needed in midfield and at the back to cover the space he gifts opponents. No wonder so many injuries are happening and the midfield constantly looks gassed, there are no built in periods were the team can take a breath, it is hoof forward, sprint back, repeat until broken.

What instructions are they getting though at 3-2? What is the actual plan for us to try to see a game out? Is it low-block and counter? Is it keep the ball? We do neither, and we've done neither all season when ahead.

Managers are supposed to prepare their team for these scenarios, and yet we're all over the place and completely confused even in the last minute at 3-3
I don’t know mate, do you know? You’re guessing there’s no plan as I’m as I’m guessing there is a plan and the players aren’t doing it.

You’d hope top players showed a bit of guts and too matters into their own hands. Not fouling in the box on 96 minutes. Closing a fecking player down on a corner

You can spin it and ask why we kept conceding early goals under Ole, people were so pissed at the time and blaming him for the need to come back and play better in the second half.

I’m not really defending ten hag, he’s gone down the typical Dutch route of being completely inflexible with the tactics. It’s undeniable that just in the last two games, despite the manager holding us back (I guess), we’ve lost 5 points when we’ve been in a prime position to win. I’m not sure how you can coach that situation on the training ground, I mean you most definitely can’t replicate that level of mental fatigue to stop Dalot making a foul in the box.
It's all cumulative though. I mean how many times did Palmer get to the edge of our box today with no proper closing down? We now spend so much of the time in every game manically defending the six yard box like heroes, throwing in blocks, last second tackles, desperate clearances and that mentally and physically fatigues everyone more than they otherwise would be.

It’s almost criminal we’re going to be stuck with Antony once he’s fired
Nope he will be shipped out as will any underperformers.

We need a world class squad to shipping out dross is important. Performance related contracts too.

I'm not getting into a circular argument, let's agree to disagree. I'm not knee jerk like some.
Not knee jerk if these performances/results are the norm for the last 12 months rather than the exception.

The whole ‘he could not have done anything to prevent those two stoppage time goals’, I do actually agree with it. I don’t blame him for the loss just as I was not going to give him all that much credit for the win. It was basically a FIFA game between two awfully set up sides, either could have won it and it should not change anyone’s perception on how bad they both are.

The football we play makes all these games just a little more than a coin toss. Chelsea could have scored 7 today and we could have scored more than 3 as well, and it’s the case in virtually all our games except the ones where we come across a genuinely good team (in which case we don’t stand a chance). Our results mirror that too, we have won just a half of our games and lost nearly a half as well (and we should have probably won fewer and lost more).

It actually feels like people are underplaying how bad this season has been. I think there are some arguments to made about this being the worst United season in the last 30 years. We are going to finish 7th or worse and have a negative goal difference having finished 4th in the CL group. We are on course to finish with 60-62 points in the league at most. There’s hardly been any good performances. Just a complete shitshow

Whatever one thinks of Ten Hag does anyone seriously trust that current group of flaky United players to suddenly turn things around and be consistently competitive and quit the habit of losing matches as in the manner they did tonight?

I know and to be honest it's been evident from the start of the season but a lot of people had their hopes on Mount and X and Y coming back from injury... I'd hoped he would adapt and learn but its been same old same pretty much. I think we played better football last year but as he's had more time with the team he has gone in a direction that doesn't really make sense considering our players and those we brought in. I think he's fecked

It wasn't 12 months, and as I said, I'm not getting into a circular argument.

It will be painful if he’s still here next season and the manager is gone. Really hope they just fire some of these players directly into the sun come July.

Hes also shown quite clearly he's not very adaptable.

I've been vocal in backing him and put my reasoning on the line - injuries to key personnel. But when he can field two full backs and two center backs, whilst keeping his striker options on the pitch, I'm expecting performances.

He hasn't delivered it, and there's no excuse for it. We're still open, it's still chaos and no win is convincing. It's all really terrible, bit of a nightmare.
Took a while for the penny to drop.

It is fair to say there has been massive injury issues, but come on, we have to first be hard to beat, even if we cant field our best XI. Be compact, be resiliant, have some structure in our play. And see out a game when a goal up with mins to go.

To do this twice in less than a week, against teams from the lower half of the table, is inexcusable.

I've heard similar just before Moyes, Jose, Van Gaal, & Ole, were all sacked awell, and here we are again.

You can't just take anyone, or we'll be back here again in 2-3 years time.
So? At least the 2-3 years with Anne widdecombe at the helm will be a bit of banter.

Just lost 3-0 at home to Fulham? Big deal, we’ve got Anne widdecombe as manager, what do you expect.

Bit like the Michael Owen ‘well done, he’s 13’ video. Those vibes.

In the meantime in those years our boardroom and back room staff get their shit sorted out.

I've tried to stay with the manager as I feel there have been mitigating circumstances which would have made the job challenging for any manager but I think his time is up. I also suspect the decision from INEOS was made some time ago.

I appreciate that we will always want to see an attacking, attractive "style" at Utd but the lack of structure in that team is glaring and he can't or seemingly won't address it.

The spaces between the defence to midfield / attack is absolutely barbaric in all honesty and its reflected in the amount of shots we have raining down on Onana every game.

I've no idea what we're doing or where we're going so in the words of Gary Neville, "I'm out".

There's still gaping holes in the squad honestly, even Pep couldnt fix a lot of the trash we have.

The issue with that logic is that the people who use it only apply it when the chaos goes against us. Moments that result in us scoring goals? Well that's just part of the plan, of course.

They can't have their cake and eat it.

Nor me. For the first time ever, I have no excitement, no looking forward, no faith. It's the worst season I can remember, and I'm assured that we played better in the year we were relegated.

I would think it better to wait until end of season but.... he's definitely done here isn't he?
He's definitely gone. I think that was assured once we bottled the win against Brentford. While CL is obviously gone, I'd still like us to get EL and feel we'd have a much better chance at winning FA Cup with a good interim in place. I don't see either happening if we keep ETH til the end of the season. Seems pointless to stick with him when he's obviously not going to be managing us next season.

I dont appreciate these silly jibes that some fans are slow. A lot of fans chose to give Ten Hag more patience than others, but patience isn't unlimited. That's all.

What exactly do they need to turn around? They’re doing the running, they’re scoring goals, they’re giving it effort but the team is set up with no midfield and concedes 30 shots a game. Maybe just fix that and we’ll be alright?

The knee jerkers basically called this early on. The signs were there all season with no signs of improving. Unsustainable football all season with now a record amount of defeats which we all predicted would happen

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, speaking to TNT Sports: "Yes we started poor, kicking the ball away and defending poorly.

"But you saw we were dominating the game and it was brilliant how we played - we deserved to win the game.

"But, you cannot give it away like we did and we have to manage this game better.

"It is a team performance, you can point to one of the players but it is about team performance.

"When it gets chaotic you have to deal with it as a team and we made the wrong decisions and we didn't help out as a team.

"Out of possession we made bad decision - a lack of concentration.

"Also, I think lucky at the end with the penalty situation, questionable and very soft but we have to do better."

On shots conceded: "It is ridiculous. We showed we were fourth ranking goals in conceding and everyone is talking to each other after, we are good and we have good defending as a team and a good goalkeeper so I cannot do nothing."

On Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans fitness: "I cannot say at this moment."

On the result: "Definitely a setback and now we have to deal with this and get up - we are resilient and you have seen that today.

"The quality of our football is really high, but football is about results and you have to bring it over time."

Yes knee jerk reactions tend to have a lottery of being right sometimes and wrong sometimes. What's your point.

It wasn’t ETH’s fault that the players managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Can you imagine how frustrated he would have been with the players throwing it away at the last.

He needs to be given another season and judged then, surely we have seen that changing managers in the past has not brought the hoped for results.

Due to a penalty that should never have been given and a deflected shot, it happens, it doesn't mean we capitulated.
No Actually we stopped playing and didn't have a single shot after 67th minute. Took off Hojlund, Case and Garnacho our arguably better players. We still kept conceding chances after 3-2 and felt like a matter of time before they will score, they kept getting soo much space in the pockets and ran at defence soo many times. Lastly before the deflected goal they had 4 vs 2 attack and we barely escaped conceding moments earlier.

We are just a very shit side, who has been set up in a weird manner and football matches become basketball. Plus they players can't keep the ball if their life is dependent on it and they are soo dumb its unbelievable. Sack this shit of a manager and these worthless players.

That is the feeling shit managers tend to give. Any decent manager would get a tune out of this squad, even if they aren't world beaters.

On the pitch, game management is mostly on the players. The problem is game management and intelligence is non existent in this group of players. Just suck the life out of it and wind the clock down.
I'm saying they've never done it, aren't coached to do it for the initial 90 minutes, so why would I expect them to do so now? I understand what you're saying but we've literally NEVER done it.

If the choices are Southgate or Potter, then just take any transfer power away from Ten Hag and give him another season.

Remember Ferdinand saying similar.

Van der Sar also had that approach to goalkeeping. Said he'd failed if he had to make a save because it meant he'd not organised the defense well enough.
