Won the ball a couple of times, made a crucial block and kept possession very well. It's a shame the others couldn't follow suit.

Liked what I saw. An actual footballer stands out a mile in our team.

Didn't look as weak as I recall him looking in his first 10 games or so for us, which is nice.

It was a small section of the ground. The rest of the ground applauded him. Some fans believe he forced his way out of the club for more money. The reporting in the lead up to his departure was basically Chelsea and Mount’s camp engaging in a PR war. Some of those reports said he rejected several offers and then United gave him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Hence why we have pockets of the fanbase who think he’s a judas snake.

He wanted Reece James money, which apparently Chelsea didnt want to give him.

Both are crocks, but if fully fit, James is the better player and captain.

Whatever was the plan with Mount?

Ten Hags number one target. 60mil. Only a year left on his Chelsea contract and a massive salary given. For that, you have to make sure he is starting every game.

Sure, he has been injured, but honestly dont see where he would get into the team, as he plays in the same, or a very similar position to Bruno.

Ten Hag wanted to play 2x8s, but soon abandoned that after getting cut open by Wolves, Forest and Spurs at the start of the season. You cant play two advances 8's with a DM that moves like a statue and a back four who backtrack as soon as we give away the ball.

Ten Hag had multiple positions to improve before buying Mount. Daft signing.

I believe Mount, Mainoo & Casemiro should get a shot at playing in midfield together, think they'd compliment each other well. Bruno is so unreliable with ball retention and not helpful to the structure of the team.

Played well. But there is no big surprise, he should always play a bit further up, further out on the side. He is just not a cm.

Bench Bruno + Casemiro and play Mount (10) + Amrabat (6) with Mainoo (8) for the rest of the season. Feck it

If he is fit enough then he needs to start in place of Mainoo (who is being overplayed, imo) in this crazy 4141 system.

The only player who looked sharp and "on" it. I would start him in a good position, for either Bruno or Mainoo (he needs a break°)

Showing promising signs of understanding where to be positioned and when to pass.

Also clearly understands how to press correctly and curve his runs.

I’d start him left instead if Rashford and move Bruno to false 9 Garnaucho on the right and Amad as the AM in front of Mainoo and either Amrabat or McTominay because Casemiro just looks like an old man right now.

Get some legs in the Midfield and Mount will be a huge help to the left back tracking Mo Salah.

Looks sharp and ready for starts. Unfortunately him coming on for Garnacho stripped us of pace and stopped us being able to get out, although he himself looked to be tiring a bit.

You’d drop Hojlund for Bruno?

Against Liverpool yes, because we need to get control of the midfield plus I’m not sure he’s 100% fit, I’d bring him on in the second half, we need to keep the game tight, don’t think it matters too much because Eric is not repeating his Fa Cup win here and he might be sacked come Saturday Evening ?

He needs to start vs Pool, in place of Bruno.
Won't happen though as Bruno is seemingly untouchable to Ten Hag.

Unfortunately I don't see a scenario in which he's anything more than a sub for the remaining of the season (= Ten Hag's regime).

Offers more than current Bruno does of that I'm sure. Ten Hag has nothing to lose so he might as well give him a run in the team.

I would like to see him start in place of Bruno for a run of games.

He should be starting games now. I'm not even a fan of him, but the lad cost £55m and is at the very least a tidy footballer. Give him a run of games.

After missing so much of the season (which is now over) there is no need to rush him now...let him have 30 mins against Liverpool.

Let him slowly build up his minutes on the LW.

That was the idea he was brought in for, I imagine (if we wishfully assume that the transfer was considered and driven by a tactical need). To be fair, I liked the new formation and thought it'd work, until it turned out Casemiro can't stay fit or sprint at all this season, and Amrabat couldn't adapt to the pace of the game. So, we had to go back to the 4-2-3-1 which none of our midfielders are well-suited for, and it leaves Mount without a natural starting place.

Ten Hag hasn't abandoned anything. We've been playing with a single DM and two 8's (honestly it's closer to two 10's) all season. Doesn't matter if the second player is McTominay, Mount or even Mainoo, they all end up pushing right up amongst the attack and leaving one midfielder alone. It's a big part of why we get cut through so easily.

Eriksen is really the only one who sometimes stays back and makes it more of a midfield two, but in some of the games even he pushed up further than he was last season.

We don't play 4231 since last season. Maybe there were some odd games but our default setup is one midfielder + two guys running all over the place.
Second part of this sentence is also not correct, if we're playing two 8's (or even more all-round 10's) then Mount is the best fit for that position. Bruno is better all-attack #10 but that's it.

Casemiro is not in good form but we're doing everything we can to make him look even worse with that stretched setup.

In reality, you are right. I dont know if that is an instruction or because McTominay wants to bomb forward.

Either way, clearing out midfield does not work. Cost us in the lead up to the 4th goal last night.
