Please. Those player of the years were nepotism at its finest, being ‘one of their own’. He wasn’t even close to their best player. And being a champions league winner - so? Look at some of the shite wearing our shirt that were “champions league winners”.
He deserved it in 20/21, while there was around six players who could lay claim (him, Jorgi, Rudi, Silva, Kante and Mendy) it certainly wasn't undeserved.

21/22 however yeah, if there was ever a year one player should have got 100% of the votes it was Silva that year.

The thing is, he's played 13 games for us. In a team where even the good players have looked shocking this year. I'm certain he'll be a great addition to the side in the long term. Get him fit and he'll be an asset.

Well done to him for getting that goal. Should have been the match winner, if the rest of them weren't complete shite.

I want it to work for him. Let's hope it does.

Good for him. He did more in those few minutes then the rest of the front line did for the rest of the match

Poor lad scores his first goal for us and we couldn't even see it out.

Happy for him, though. Hopefully he can kick on from all, although I'm not expecting much because the team itself hasn't really got a clue from a tactical point of view.

Will be good to have him in the run in. Good to see him get his first goal, sadly it wasn't the winner.

The best thing he did was hopefully show people what an actual press attempt or recovery run looks like. No zero intensity trots to 'press', no jogging back on a turnovers.

An absolute rarity, somehow, in this team.

He was ok, took.his goal well.

Hopefully he can string a few games together and play instead of McT or Bruno.

He look good in his small cameo. High energy and very comfortable on the ball in tight spaces. Such a shame Bruno very rarely gets dropped because it would be interesting to see him in a mid 3 with Kobbie and Casemiro.

Start him v Chelsea . Rashford doesn’t deserve to start after that performance

Just seen the goal- very nice finish.

Hopefully he can can have a run of games in the 10 role and we can see if there's a player there for next season.

I feel like he should be getting a bit more credit for his goal. That first touch turned a 20% chance of a goal into a 70% chance. Had to be perfectly weighted to give the Brentford defender zero opportunity to tackle back, but also gently enough to keep the angle nice and wide. Very good goal technically, albeit not necessarily one for the highlight reel.

Nice to see him back. If he works hard, he can end up a decent backup for Mainoo.

He can’t play in that position. I would quite like to see him get a run in place of Bruno though, just to see if that does give us more control of the midfield.

Good touch and finish for our undeserved goal. But is also the player who was in midfield and occupying a position to stop the goalscorer and moments before it went to him, he dropped back deeper where there were already loads of bodies. So he left the goalscorer open with poor positioning. He went into the 6 yard box when we already had 3 players that deep and nobody to take over further out. Doesnt sense danger

It would have been really nice if his goal turned out to be a very undeserved winner. Hopefully he can stay fit now and show why he was signed. Surely Mount should always start over McT, i dont even think the role matters. Mount is just a much much better footballer.

The touch for the goal was really good. Slick, even.
Still not convinced he’s a specialist in any specific area of the game to be a real key player for us in the long term, but I’d definitely be starting him over Fernandes for a while at least.

Should have been his moment, but we even took the winner away from him.

I'd give him a chance Thursday though with Bruno being undroppable it's how you fit him in.

I would start him over Bruno as a short term fix. I think our best front six with our current squad is like this:
Garnacho - Hojlund - Amad
Mount
Mainoo - Casmiro

it is still a mid team but better than what we have been fielding

Took his goal well. I’d really like to see him get some starts over Bruno, whose collapse is mind-boggling.

And the finish with his weaker foot. We see how many professionals snatch at it with their weaker side but he placed it very well.

Hope he gets more game time now and continues to turn things around. He was just so unlucky with those injuries but I think our overall game improves with him in the side ahead of Bruno.

Glad he got a goal, nightmare season for him.

I don't see a long term place for him though. What is he going to be a squad player on the wings? Are we going to sell Bruno so he can play in his actual position?

Sell Bruno to play Mount

I swear fans would not like to support City with their 22 man strong squad of 22 first team players. How was you during the 90's when United had 4 strong strikers, who all could argue deserved a starting position?

You'd say this but then bitch and moan that we don't have a suitable back up for when Bruno isn't playing or when we need to rotate.

Can't have it both ways.

I've literally never said we need a backup for Bruno. Why? Because Bruno plays every game under every single manager, is never injured, and is club captain. You don't buy a 60m backup on 200k per week for competition for your captain who plays every game and never even gets subbed off. You use just have a versatile young player there for that role in case of emergency. But as it is, Mount won't play as a 10 pretty much ever. And just to clarify, I don't want us to sell Bruno. He's pretty much always our most important and effective player. We have a lot of team development to do until it makes sense to replace him. I'm just saying the Mount signing was obviously dumb and it remains dumb as he remains without a role in the team.

Depth is great. You need depth. You need to know where you need it though. In the 90's teams, we played 442 and rotated our strikers around, so yes we had 4 strikers. Who was our backup for Jaap Stam? Who was our backup for Beckham? You don't have great depth for every player. You have it for players that need rotating. It makes sense to have depth for wingers in our team. It doesn't make sense to have it for Bruno. It makes sense to have depth for Shaw as he's injured often. It never made sense for Spurs to focus too much on depth for Kane as he played every minute of every game (until the injuries).

Also funny you mention City. Maybe have an actual look at their squad. They have a group of 16 senior outfield players. The rest are youth players. Even from that group of senior players, guys like Nunes barely play and only played earlier cause De Bruyne was out for ages. Just like how they spent 40m on Phillips to make up numbers but he never played.

Fernandes should be sold, especially if the Arabs come calling. He turns 30 next season.

I'd like to see him start LW on Thursday. Could be our solution to the Rashford problem.
Garnacho Hojlund Amad
Mount
Mainoo Casemiro
As good as a back up option he is for the wing, I'd be very disappointed to see Amad lose out on a starting spot over him.

Amad might start the odd game but lets not pretend that he's going to consistently start ahead of Bruno anytime soon, in spite of a vocal section of the caf trying to speak it into existence.

Amad is replacing Rashford, it’s Bruno against Mount for their natural position as a 10.
