That stats is pretty remarkable just for Rooney. Double digits in goals + assists with the way he played must be some kind of miracle.
Just goes to prove that stats do not show the whole picture. Rooney was abysmal by anyones standards last season, regardless of what the stats show us.

Really hoping this Morata deal gets sorted before pre-season training starts.

nobody said that. We don't know how he'll translate to the English game. He could thrive as a regular starter.

Lots of people though Zlatan would flop coming to us from a markedly weaker league than Spain.
Thats what you were implying with your post. That there was no difference between Morata's and Zlatan's stats. Also we didnt pay 70m to get Zlatan here. Even if he flopped no big deal.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's done behind the scenes and this part is just Madrid stretching it out to make it look like they got the best price etc.

They'd look like mugs letting him go easily and not getting DDG. They're all about politics and it's all games. So yeah, I imagine it's just the period of vanity, making themselves look like they're taking United to the cleaners

Then again I said similar about Griezmann...
Haha yeah. There's always discrepancy in the fee paid when it comes to Real Madrid transfers. Gentleman's club me hairy arse.

Yes because the Spanish league and the premier league are completely the same. The teams they both play in are exactly the same.
PL teams keep getting d*cked down at every level by La Liga teams and yet this myth is still alive and well.

Dont think Morata would lift others numbers more than Ibra did, Ibra is a better hold and link up player, more creative and a better passer. Also a far bigger presence drawing two defenders to him.
That's something to be seen. Morata is much more mobile, his link up play is pretty good. Also, he likes to go wide often and draw defenders there which leaves the centre of the opposition box empty for other attacking players. And we have plenty of those who do just that, like to go to the centre instead of wide (Mata, Mhki, Rashford, Martial, maybe even more space for Pogba).

It's not certain but it's not so unlikely scenario and probably something that Jose wants.

Exactly. And pretty much opposite of Morata's stats in Italy. Very low numbers but everyone who watched him was full of praise.

That is what people are failing to grasp. I think with the right service this lad can score enough goals to cover Ibra's hall but the others have to step up as well. The goal support Ibra got from others was woeful.
I think by his workrate and how he plays he'll bring others in to play in better positions to get goals. I genuinely believe that he'll be better for the team than Zlatan. He's maybe not as individually gifted as Zlatan, but I think he'll make the team function better than Zlatan did.
Hopefully Jose will now free up the fullbacks and do something about Valencia's woeful crossing.

Not really serious there I hope.

She has now, indeed, unfollowed Man Utd. Which is actually shows that something has happened over the past 24 hours. Morata probably told her to unfollow until it's official, out of respect to Madrid fans.

I think that Higuain before this season scored something like 2 goals in 20 CL knockout games. It was a pretty atrocious record for a player of his profile.

Many of them thought that Morata could develop into great striker or good enough to still win them Seria A which is something they are used too and seen him as someone who thrives in CL, a competition they want so bad. In other words, they've seen Morata as a big game player with much space to improve and many of them were willing to gamble on that. Of course, you could find other opinions which were more for the safer option (Higuain) but a number of people wanting him to stay, even pay more money to Real, was speaking for his qualities by itself.

Understand where you coming from and what concern you have. I'm also not sure, but the thing is you never can be. Btw. when you look Morata you are talking more about peak Torres level from Liverpool. And when we are at it, Torres with all his minutes in Atletico managed to outscore Morata's last season only once and that is by a single goal. He came in Liverpool 1 year younger but he was perfectly suited for Rafa style of play. I hope we can get the same from Morata.
Torres was playing for an average Atletico side, not this Madrid who are the best in the world and score 150+ goals due to their superiority.

Anyways I hope he becomes the next Raul and I will delightfully eat humble pie and you can serve me up a slice anytime you want, so long as he keeps banging them in.

I've no information on whether we are close to sign Morata or not.

I feel, from what I understand, that he is definitely Mourinho's choice.

And I have to admit, I've only seen him play a sprinkling amount of times. A good few times for Juve, when they looked awesome with him leading the line and only a couple of times for Real. He's clearly a talent.

But here's the thing...he's a Madrid boy. If he comes to United and has an impressive couple of years, which is obviously what we all want, he will always have that hook back home...Every summer it will be 'Madrid want Morata back'. I know we've just about hung on to De Gea, but I feel Morata will always want to go back to the club he's always dreamt about playing for. He doesn't scream 'future United great' to me at all. Certainly not in the long-term.

Don't worry about it - I've already accepted he'll more than likely pine for Madrid at some point. Right now we just want him to bang those goals in as long as he's around. However, if someone at the club has some sense, they would put a big fat release clause or something that will give us a good negotiating position in case he wants to go. That way, when greedy Perez rocks up and tries to get him on the cheap, he at least knows he can't be low balling us.

Yeah, if he turns into a roaring success just make him double what we pay for him. Logical, since they don't see him as a regular starter right now.

You will also notice if you watch Morata goals this season that they are, in many times, a product of his individual piece of skill, rather than team play.

No need for the second. Already explained that I get your concerns. If he keeps banging them in, we'll be both over the moon and more in the mood for drinking than eating.

I highly doubt he'd want yet another spell at Madrid. Even if he scores 100 goals for us in 3 years, he'll find himself behind someone else at Madrid yet again if he were to return.

Really hope this one happens and we hear something positive this week. He could be great for us over the years, just hope Madrid don't try to mess us about and make things difficult. With Martial, Rashford and Morata as our young attacking options our forward line should be sorted for a number of seasons.

The key isn't Morata passing Zlatan's record. The key is the other players improving their goal scoring numbers, which was our main problem.
For which we have to fix the balance and free attacking players of defensive duties.

They were free all the season except the last 3 months.
They were still too deep. Remember wingers always getting doubled up and defended, not many times they got in behind.

Mourinho's 4231 at chelsea and conte's 343 is a massive example of a unbalanced and balanced team. Same was the case with United's wingers and full backs this season.

What wingers ? We never played a real RW because he was always drifting inside to join the midfield and letting Valencia take care of the right flank. The problem might have been present on the Left flank but not because they were deap, but because our LBs options are terrible in attacking except Shaw who was out of form all season. Darmian prefers to stay deep to defend and that left the LW alone, and Martial wasn't really in good form to take a left flank alone on his own.

James Ducker saying Morata left his wife on the honeymoon to travel to Madrid to move them along

Says in the piece that it could drag on, United and Morata want it done by July 8, but United are still mindful that Madrid may force De Gea into negotiations again

Didn't Perez already said they're content with Navas ?

Which is why the odds of us trying to buy James as well are virtually zero, imo.
