The Flying Lotus one is good, no doubt. I wasn't too impressed by Caribou on first listen though. I enjoyed "Swim" a lot more. It's been a pretty good year I think. Currently loving the new FlyLo and Caribou albums.

I might have been a bit quick regarding "Our Love". I enjoyed it more on second listen. The Flying Lotus one is good, no doubt. I wasn't too impressed by Caribou on first listen though. I enjoyed "Swim" a lot more.
"Psychic"'s from 2013. I put some of the tracks on my 2013 playlist at least. My favorite so far has been the war or on drugs album, and in case Psychic by Darkside was released in 2014, then that too.
Still have to listen to many, though.
Admit it, buddy. You made all of those up, right?A belting year for music for me. Can't even round it down to a top 5. Too much great stuff coming out. So here's my top 26, in no order.

Glad someone else is into them. Did you ever listen to Taint, the band the vocalist/guitarist was in before? Incredible. But yeah - your whole list is great.A belting year for music for me. Can't even round it down to a top 5. Too much great stuff coming out. So here's my top 26, in no order.
Hark - Crystalline
Big fan of Taint. Saw them a few times. Shame they split up. They'd been around so long that it seemed like they were going to be one of those bands who would never split up. Fortunately, Hark sound very much like Taint anyway, so no major loss I suppose. Their record is superb.Glad someone else is into them. They sound like The National.I'm currently listening to a band I'd never heard of until a couple of days ago. It's a Danish band called Santiago and their first LP "No More Songs About the Moon" is thoroughly enjoyable. A very pleasant listening experience. YouTube hasn't got a lot on them, but there is this live recording of "Empty Houses".
Great stuff.Run the Jewels is great fun.
There's a slight same-sameness about it, but as standalone tracks I think they're all pretty strong. Very anthemic, nothing difficult.Great stuff.
Although I do think the album drops off after the first 4 tracks.
I think it's mostly Mathias Elkjær's vocals. Maybe a bit in the melancholy and lyrics of tracks such as "The Chimes". Otherwise it's much more bubbly for me (e.g. "My Life Ain't a Movie", "Paranoia"). I think if Matt Berninger were lying in a hammock while writing The National would maybe be a bit more like Santiago. They sound like The National.

I have this but I've only played it once. I loved them over ten years ago but they went really shit. The Dwarves - The Dwarves Invented Rock n Roll
To be fair to your initial comparison, Santiago do have a few horn arrangements that wouldn't look out of place in a The National song.
Good way of putting it. It is mostly the vocals that gave me that impression. In terms of the actual music, there's definitely a difference. Same way in which Radiohead and Muse are always compared with each other because of the vocals, yet they couldn't be more different as a whole.
They've ditched a lot of that weird experimental stuff, and it's just a straight up rocker. A few heavier songs, but it's mostly the pop-punk sound they had from The Dwarves Are Young & Good Looking. It's a pretty fun record.I have this but I've only played it once. I loved them over ten years ago but they went really shit.
Is it a return to form?
Inevitable, the cream always rises to the top.

Album of the year.
Haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate.
That's a great list. Liars and The Men are very underrated. I'm sold on Spoon, thought it was a tremendous album, especially given my indifference to Transference. So far I would probably put these down:
Caribou - Our Love
Flying Lotus - You're Dead!
Future Islands - Singles
Goat - Commune
Hundred Waters - The Moon Rang Like a Bell
iceage - Plowing Through the Field of Love
Liars - MESS
Mac Demarco - Salad Days
MØ - No Mythologies to Follow
Mogwai - RAVE TAPES
Mr Twin Sister - Mr Twin Sister
My Brightest Diamond - This Is My Hand
Parquet Courts - Sunbathing Animal
Real Estate - Atlas
Run the Jewels - Run the Jewels 2
Santiago - No More Songs About the Moon
Sharon van Etten - Are We There
The Men - Tomorrow's Hits
The War on Drugs - Lost in the Dream
Wild Beasts - Present Tense
These are not necessarily album of the year material all of them, but some records I think are worthwhile. I'm a bit undecided on Shabazz Palaces, Spoon, Chromeo, Damon Albarn, Ryley Walker, Jack White and Perfume Genius.
I still have a few to get through too.
New Run The Jewels and Big K.R.I.T albums are stella.
