I have no idea what this means, but a friend of mine, who works in the agent/football world and told me about Redknapp to Spurs 2 days before it happend has just phoned me to tell me he's had to cut a meeting short because Agent X had to leave after saying this to someone over the phone

"Is Arsene There? Is Brian There? Right, I'm coming down now. Tell him its 40...It's £40 Million and the Sheik isn't moving and I'm not moving with him...And if he wants more I'll stick him in the fecking reserves and tell the press about it

He then left.

I have no reason to bullshit you, and I have no idea whether it's to do with Adebayor or not but it mentioned Arsene, £40mil and a Sheik so I assumed so...though I don't know why Adebayor would want the transfer fee raised, or why he's worth 40 feckin mill..unless it's his agent..

Anyway, just putting it out there....Whatever it is you'll hear about it in the coming days

I have no idea..He may well of said we....It's been relayed to me so it's secondary source information...but the bloke it comes from knows his onions and Told me abour 'Arry a couple of days before that happened...but I dunno. Why would he be upping the price? I can't believe he'll go for £40m to be honest. Arse have got a great deal if so...

To be honest I'd have thought £40m would be about right for him, given that the price would be increased by the fact it's City.

Yep sounds like it's an offer to Adebayor and the press have been speculating that his wage demands are what's holding up the deal.

Well that would make more sense...apparently the offer he wanted was £42m....I also neglected to mention that Agent in question called him a ****. :D

£40m over a five year contract. £8m a year, or £153,846.15 a week. Sounds about right.

Adebayor is proving a lot more trouble than he's worth. I'm glad we're not trying to sign him. Even for a seemingly "reasonable" 25mil.

Manchester City can announce that Emmanuel Adebayor has passed a medical and signed a five-year contract.
The 25-year-old Togo international has joined the Blues for an undisclosed fee. He will wear the number 25 that he sported at Arsenal last season.

A crowd of around 300 Blues fans were at the City of Manchester Stadium to greet the striker whose was named African Player of the Year for 2008.

The player was hugely impressed by his reception.

“It made me feel really welcome and special and I can’t wait to play for City’s fans and show them what I can do,” he declared after completing the bulk of the paperwork.

“I was born to play football and that is what I want to do. I have come here to make history for this club and those supporters. It what the chairman and the manager told me that they want too and I can’t wait to get started.

After beginning his career in France at Metz, Emmanuel moved to Monaco from where he was signed by the Gunners. Once there he made 104 first team appearances and scored 46 goals. He was named African Player of the Year in 2008.

The 6’ 3” striker’s most productive season in the top flight came in 2007-08 when he notched 24 goals in 36 starts. He was being courted by Milan earlier in the season.

Blues boss Mark Hughes is delighted to have secured the services of yet another high class international star with his peak years still in front of him.

“Emmanuel has been one of the top forwards in the Premier League since he arrived from France and we are delighted he has agreed to come and join us,” he declared.

“Along with the other signings we have made in the last two windows he will greatly enhance our ability to compete with the top sides.

“His arrival is another clear indication that we are determined to augment the players we have here with the best of international talent.

“He adds vital balance and power to our attack. He has everything a top forward needs. He is versatile, powerful, quick and agile on the ball. I am looking forward to working with him as are the rest of the staff. He will definitely add a new dimension to our play. I have been a great admirer for a long time.”

Adebayor will now head out to South Africa to join his new teammates.

I reckon he'd start in our team if he was one of our four strikers.

I think he's very good, and I think him and Tevez are an excellent partnership in terms of contrast of styles and all round quality.

And I know that's not a popular opinion at all, but I can't help it. I think they're both much better than they're given credit for by their respective (ex)fans.

Will probably better his own record of offsides at Man City. He's a player that has never impressed me.
I couldnt agree more, i thought it was madness when Milan came in last year offering £30m! Hes the only player imo who could score 30 goals in a season and still look crap

Really good player prior to last season. True he has no composure but he was always a handful.

Last season though he would fit firmly in the 'waste of space' thread. I can't see moving to City being much motivation for him either. Looks like an early retirement job.

Don't think anybody can seriously question Adebayor's quality. Did not Rio come out and say he was the most difficult striker he has played against and with the teams we have played that is a very impressive compliment. I also heard Fergie was interested in him a few years ago but then again who are we not linked with?

Good striker but without the right midfield or defence City would still flop.

I love the way the BBC are even commenting on the massive amount of attacking players now at City.

The 25-year-old joins fellow new signings Roque Santa Cruz and Carlos Tevez at Eastlands.
And with Robinho, Craig Bellamy, Valeri Bojinov and Benjani also on their books, City have an embarrassment of riches up front.

Incidentally, Chelsea are in the first half of our first pre-season game in Seattle, Sturridge has already scored one and looks like a very, very interesting player- why the hell Man City let him go for nonsense money whilst spending £100million on Tevez, Santa Cruz and Adebayor I don't know.

Because even they baulked at paying £60K a week for a promising but unproven 19-year-old player.

Madness. Why can't they keep their fecking oil money in the desert building indoor ski facilities and lush palaces?
I don't think Abu Dhabi have indoor ski facilities...

Well, he retired after failing to beat Ronaldo in the scoring charts in 06/07...

He's only hanging around to collect his wages.

Adebayor had the one good consistant season before last. Last year he was utter rubbish and caused dressing room shite

Fking great deal for us I'd have taken 15 mill let alone nearly double that

Thing is, he is a good player and has proved it but only when he wants to be - he understands nothing of team ethic and work rate

I do agree he, being a lazy fkr, could be a hit with Tevez doing all the dirty work for him but frankly it won't last - Adebayor likes an easy life and he'll end up in warmer climes in Europe.

When he's arsed he's good - other than that - total bollocks

Great deal for us imo

'Undisclosed' eh? I reckon we took 'em to the cleaners.
why do you think? I'd love it if that were the case, but (and I realize this means nothing) every piece of journo speculation had it at somewhere between 22 and 25m.

My Arsenal supporting mate thinks you guys received £33 million for him, with additional clauses:eek: that can't be right can it? What's the fee touted at?
what's his basis for thinking that?

tbh, I don't really want to make money if it means Ade hitting the performance clauses
