Odd choice of loan at first glance.
Nah. Paco Jemez is the new manager there. He's the opposite of a Pulis type and seems a safe bet to accommodate a talented, raw young CM like Pereira, either as an 8 or 10. I have no idea what Granada's squad looks like but this seems like a solid idea. And selfishly, it'll be fun to watch Pereira play for a Jemez team against the big clubs. Jemez's Vallecano was the only side to outpossess Barcelona in 316 games. He seems a great stylistic fit for a talented, 2 footed but not especially big or defensively gifted young midfielder like Pereira.

Ultimately I think he will end up being sold unfortunately. I just cant see Mourinho changing his spots. He will buy ready made talent before promoting home grown for the majority of the time.

Granada already have young midfielders Angban and Boga loaned from Chelsea, Toral loaned from Arsenal and a 20 year old midfielder named Agbo starting for them so I'm not sure it would make much sense for Pereira to go there as well

a player comes out of the U21 league which is full of inventive tricky little players all trying to show their the next big thing, the difference in style physicality tactics to that league and the championship is immense.
You are right. But isn't the transition from the U21 league to virtually any other big league a big step?

Isn't he also a natural CAM...could he not get some game time there?

Boga and Toral are natural cam as well. Not saying he wouldn't get games necessarily but doesn't make much sense for them to loan in another young midfielder especially when their captain is a midfielder as well

Granada have signed Sergi Samper on loan from Barcelona today as well, that's a lot of young midfielders who'll all be expecting to play, I'd prefer Pereira to go somewhere that he's likely to play every game rather than being rotated just to give other loan players games

Doesn't sound like a great choice given the current loan options at Granada then? Hmm.

Seems strange that people in here were saying this guy should be in United's first team but now we're questioning if he'll get a game at Granada.

don't know much about his new team but hope he does well. Shame the Boro move didn't work out

Slightly surprised he's joining a club abroad, but as long as he is starting games there that is the main thing. If he does, it will be very good experience for him.

Its a very good move. Rather than playing in championship he is playing in a Spanish League which will let him express himself.

Love reading this... Have so much faith in the kid:
SkySports said:
Pereira will be anxious to show what he can do rather sooner than that but it's been a difficult start to life at Granada. The perennial strugglers sit bottom of La Liga after 13 games and are yet to win this season. No team has conceded more. No side has scored fewer.

It's not necessarily an ideal environment for a young player but Pereira has still been able to conjure up some of Granada's best moments. In terms of chances created, he ranks among the top 20 players in Spain and is the youngest one among them.

Granada's reliance on him is show by the fact that he has created 18 of their 96 opportunities. In percentage terms that's similar to the number of chances that Neymar has fashioned for Barcelona or Toni Kroos at Real Madrid - the top two players on that list.

"Pereira has been one of the best players for Granada this season," Victor Olivencia, a journalist based in the city with Granada Hoy, tells Sky Sports. "He's been one of the key figures in the team and stood out even in the many defeats.

Pereira was particularly impressive in September's draw at Real Betis and even in defeat to Athletic Bilbao the following week. But those efforts were some time ago now and managerial change coupled with fading confidence has changed the mood at the club.

"He is compromised," Antonio Navarro, Granada correspondent for local newspaper Ideal, tells Sky Sports. "He has shown that he is a talented player but perhaps the problem is that Pereira is too young for a situation as demanding as the one Granada find themselves in.

Pereira in action against Barcelona's Javier Mascherano this season
"With former Granada coach Paco Jemez, the game was more offensive and he could shine brighter. Now that Lucas Alcaraz has arrived, he is required to do more defending as well as creating opportunities and he is not meeting expectations."

Olivencia agrees. "When Granada have the ball, Pereira is the best," he says. "But the downward pressure on the team is making it difficult for him to play well. Alcaraz has asked him to get forward but also to help in defence, something like a box-to-box midfielder."

It is great that he has to do that now too, will prepare him for next season. Hopefully he takes it on board and does defend too as well as create. Would be very positive.

I caught one of his games a couple of weeks ago on one of the Spanish channels. Looks good but the team he's with is kind of crap, no offense to them.

Sounds promising apart from the bit about struggling with adding the defensive aspect to his game. Mourinho will demand the same defensive diligence so it's something he needs to work on.
If he adds the defensive aspect to his game to become a box to box mid, it would be a bonus because naturally he's a playmaker in the Mata mould with a great goalscoring instinct. As is, he is good enough to play as a second striker at a mid to bottom PL level club.

Nah. Very few similarities with Mata, he's a lot tougher and likes a challenge but nowhere near as good a goalscorer at present. I think hes much more chance of becoming a very good no.8 than no.10. Just needs to work a bit on his positioning and keep up a good work rate through 90 minutes.

I think he'll be an asset next season. He's doing well for himself under lots of pressure.

It looks like he is having an excellent time on loan. I would let him finish the loan, next year he can be back up and hopefully eventually replace Herrera.

Surely has the attributes to make it at United, certainly deserves at least to be given the chance imo.

Finally a loan deal that might be worth while, feck knows what we'll do with Januzaj, but this lad needs to be in the sqaud next season.

If Andreas finishes the season well, we might have a good go-to club for our loans. No more QPR, Wolves, Wigan, etc. La Liga would be a good place for our young talents to find game time.

Can't underestimate the fact that the player just has to adapt quickly. Probably helps that Andreas speaks 5 languages too.

I think La Liga would be a good place for players to go to improve their technical ability as most teams seem happy to let their players to play with more freedom.

As expected, start him in a midfield 3 and he starts to shine. Doing that against a Real Madrid midfield too! I love how he gets the opponents chasing him and then quickly turns direction, clearly very agile even with the ball.

He's been forgotten about a little on this forum regarding next year, but I would much rather have him in midfield than Fellaini. He could prove to be a good replacement for Carrick.
