Nope. Don't want us to get relegated. The best way to handle Martial is to bring him after 65m like Jose did last season.
Leaving Sahcnez aside we have 3 strikers/wingers plus 1 assisting attacker - Lukaku / Rashford / Martial + Lingard. In most games we play either 433 or 4231, or occasionally a 532 if we park the bus. There are plenty of playing opportunities for the 3 strikers. Martial might moan about not able to play against top teams but if he performs, he will, if not, then stop moaning. That's not exactly the answer since the wages he receives is so high that we need to make him work for it . It will be very tough to get rid of him now because of his wages so might as well give him opportunities in a position he showed promise in at the start of his career . We all know he is an uninterested player so I hope Ole motivates him to start showing intent .
Classic problem of not knowing what we buy and where to play him. Need a winger bought a striker. Then we scratch our head why it doesnt work.He is a striker if we're honest, but we've sort of shoehorned him in a left sided attacker.
It works better than putting Rashford on the right, but the problem is neither create much for others.
He also rarely runs in behind like Rashford so playing centrally may be Martial's best position at Utd. Like others have said, might as well try it and if that can't get him to break through, then it's pretty obvious he's not going to ever be the player everyone hoped he'd be.I've always said this - he's much better centrally than on the wing.
On that left wing he's quite predictable. I think Rashford plays better there (a bit faster and better crosser of the ball)
Apparently Lukaku runs now nothing after 15 mins on even the best of days and has a first touch of a defender. Then starts sulking and clapping just as much as Martial. At Least Lukaku runs - Martial would be lazier than Berbatov
That's an insult to Berbatov. He wasn't particularly lazy, he just wasn't in the same mould as Rooney and Tevez. He was actually great at coming back to defend corners. At Least Lukaku runs - Martial would be lazier than Berbatov
HahaWe should ask him. See if he feels like it.
Martial does run but he runs in a different way. A more economical calculated way. Running is not important upfront otherwise Rashford is the best striker in the world already. If you run in a intelligent way you'll be running less.At Least Lukaku runs - Martial would be lazier than Berbatov
Martial is a lazy player - take the likes of Suarez for example - never stops moving - when his team have the ball or not. He is constantly giving the oppo defenders dilemmas and proboems.Martial does run but he runs in a different way. A more economical calculated way. Is this going to be his post Jose excuse? A secret cabal of pro-British conspirators working against him.The pro-British gang would never allow Martial to play centrally and displace Rashy.
The only way for Martial to play as 9 would be for another team.
Can't be that bloody perfect then..He'd be perfect in the Firmino role. I doubt we'll see him there much though unfortunately.
This is not an excuse, it’s an observation of what is happening: Rashford is given chance after chance at number 9, and despite of atrocious form is never dropped. By now, I don’t see any way Martial will be given an opportunity at #9 while at this club.Is this going to be his post Jose excuse? A secret cabal of pro-British conspirators working against him.
Rashy is the golden boy and British media, manager etc isn't going to want to upset him. He takes all the set pieces, shoots from wherever he wants and has lots of power in the team already. I don't see way to accomadate two players without affecting one even if I would return him to LW/LF because he's more wasteful and play a supportive role instead but I don't see it to happen any time soon after we have already built his ego to be main man. This is not an excuse, it’s an observation of what is happening: Rashford is given chance after chance at number 9, and despite of atrocious form is never dropped. He does that, no?He's not a striker, he's nothing like a striker. He can be quite a neat finisher in a very specific circumstances, and that's it. He doesn't work hard, bring others into play, make runs off the last man... What about him screams striker?!
I dunno, I just don't think he's very good. Maybe Ole can help him to realise his limited potential, but I can't see it myself. Nothing against the guy, but he's had a very unimpressive four(?!?) years with us now.. I don't see him as a starter next season.
Rashford is clearly preferred. Although, if he persists with the diamond, there's room for both. Can't be that bloody perfect then..
Both were in the bottom five attackers for average distance covered..At Least Lukaku runs - Martial would be lazier than Berbatov
