Yeah, he's a proper Brazilian winger who can actually take on defenders so there's that.

But definitely prefer getting in 2 world class midfielders in first.
It’s more that he can be heavily involved in build up and get us into the box on the regular for me.

Of course the skills help just from a bums off seats experience.

I don’t think it’s realistic for us to get that
He's really not worth anywhere near that. We're making the same mistakes over and over again ffs
Name me a single left footed RW who would be better suited to Ten Hag?

The price is the price of our own incompetence. But he’s quality.

They'll ask for €100m and we will not go that high. I can't see this one happening at this stage.

We have brought enough Dutch league players this summers let's not push our luck considering the fees because there is no way all 3 would turn out well for us considering the poor record of Dutch league players being able to make the step up to the premier league

Why do Manchester United feel the need to every step of their transfer process with the press?

"United considering €80M bid for Antony"
"United want to make €80M bid for Antony "
"United preparing €80M bid for Antony"
"United finalizing plans for €80M bid for Antony"
"United set to meet with Ajax over transfer of Antony"
"United hopeful to land Antony in €80M bid"
"Murtaugh working nonstop from 2 AM to midnight everyday to complete Antony transfer"
"United meeting with Ajax to discuss €80M transfer of Antony"
"Ajax demanding €120M for Antony"

Said back in June this would be our Moyes summer 2.0 and here we are with the modern day Fellaini, could have had him for much less had we just got our shit together earlier in the summer

80m on him wow.... Thats equivalent on 80m for Harry. Never give all the power to the manager when it comes to signing players. He just went for targets he had worked with previously and we are grossly overpaying for them...

Well if we had done some homework, this wouldn't have happened..

He's great and its not my money, but...ho boy...100M is a lot for this guy. And we're still left with a shambolic MF. I'd rather us just up the FDJ bid to 100M if we're willing to go there for Antony.

Its euros mate.

Just sign him. It'll be great to have an actual RW. We won't pay so much that is scuppers our ability to sign a CM so I wouldn't worry about it

Makes no sense, it’s this stance that got them to 80m. They can’t turn around and add 20m when that’s met ffs

There were rumours they'd upped it to €100m for absolutely no reason at all. Whether it's true or not, we will see. Edwin won't be a dick though, think Antony wants the move. He left the door open when asked last week. Always felt there was another twist in this one.

He's just a little fedup at the thought of losing him and is hoping for a large fee to justify the sale. He's replied to others back a source and he thinks the offer will come in.

They are not gonna turn down 80m, they are not Madrid
They ended up getting €67m for Martinez from us when they valued him at around €40m at the beginning of the window. They will absolutely take us to the cleaners for Antony so late in the transfer window.

My concern with this is that it means we will cheap out on a CM, or just won’t sign one.

I’d rather spend 80m on a DM and get a cheap forward

As good as I think he is, it still scares me that Bergwijn, who couldn’t hack it at Spurs went back to Ajax and looks class there.

That is far too much money. But hopefully he’s worth it in 3-4 years time. Would love a winger that actually takes peope on.

You never know, but a technical and left footed Brazilian nutcase doesn't sound too bad to me.

Bergwijn also looks class at the Dutch NT. So it might not be that he couldn't hack it in the PL, but just not at Spurs for whatever reason

It's definitely too much if it happens.

But if we overspend on players like Antony and Martinez this summer I'll try to think of the additional cost as a premium we're paying to expedite the process of getting us playing like an ETH team. Even if they ultimately don't turn out to really be good enough, there's value in speeding up the process of us at least looking like a coherent side so this manager has the best possible chance of not getting fired in the short to medium term.

Because having watched our opening two games, I now place more value in players who can actually do what the manager wants to any degree.

At this point, you have to be mad to care how much we bid for players. Just get it done.
