What’s crazy is Di Maria has only played 4 minutes since the Poland match. Really need him for the final.

Love the muchachos song as well. The digs at Brazil, the self depreciation, the maradona and Messi references and its so damn catchy.

He was poor in the games he did play. Okay, maybe that was due to not being fit, I don't know, but all I know is they've performed better without him. I think the system they have right now is great. ADM would be a great option off the bench though if he's fit, I agree there.

Argentina are a much better team than England, yet I wager that if Mac Callister or De Paul qualified for England, Southgate wouldn't have given them a single start. And Rashford would have played every game for Argentina.

I meant the rest of the team around him just look so determined and passionate with an insane will to win at all costs attitude
I don't think it's any different from the team spirit and determination other countries (who aren't collapsing internally) have. Argentina's strongest opponent has been Netherlands who is coached well but also don't have the elite squad that the other top nations do, Croatia is ok and the rest have all been shite teams. They didn't even need to play remotely well to get to the quarter finals as their opposition in those 4 games was bottom of the group worthy level for a few groups. And then they threw away a 2 goal lead vs Netherlands. Played well vs Croatia on the counter against a very blunt attack (which has been the case all tournament).

I hope they win it, but there's nothing to be learned from their run and it's no different to England's run in the euros. Easy fixture list, barely needed to over extend to get to the final. But they have the greatest of all time there in their attack so it helps. It'll be far from a classic team, but it'll be remembered as Messi's final act, and Julian Alvarez making a name for himself IMO if they do win.

Really hoping Argentina can take it. However, we haven't really seen them against tough opposition, and you just get the feeling France* will be too strong.

*Already assuming France are in the final, so they'll probably lose tonight.

England players tend to be overvalued by the market and pundits. Argies on the contrary except Messi they tend to be undervalued.

Now Macallister under the radar of Tottenham, Juve, Atletico.

English players are overrated. England as a NT is overrated. Probably because of PL, but england's only trophy is their home WC, after that they reached semifinal two times and didn't even get to the podium.

Argentina with their mediocre players are going to play their 6th final. In all these tournaments finished either 1st or second. Never lost a semifinal.

Going to be a tough game for them against France. I do wonder if Martinez might come in to make a back three.

Anything's possible when you have Messi though.

Can't see Argentina getting past France, France seem to just have the habit to winning games playing average but they have so many match winners.

I feel France will edge out the final.

Tough task for Scaloni. Maybe that same 4-4-2 again so that 4man midfield can nullify Griezmann and supply to Mbappe.

I think Scaloni could be the man to do it. Allow France to dictate possession, and try and launch a few plays through the middle to catch that defence out. Will be interesting to see what sort of setup he goes for this time

De Paul was a laughing stock a couple of weeks ago (only in the team because he's Messi's bodyguard) and Mac Callister was just a decent/average low level EPL player.

Mad how a couple of World Cup game against average opposition can change opinions

A poster in another thread posted a link (from I think the mirror) of the team singing it in the dressing room saying its childish while the Mirror called it controversial and offensive.

With journalism like that it's little wonder people are frothing at the mouth about a lack of class and respect from South American sides.

Argentina beat Croatia 3-0 on Tuesday night to qualify for the final of the World Cup and their celebrations involved singing a controversial and offensive song in the dressing room.

That's hardly the worst, haven't they got one about being English if you're too scared to jump or something?

Can't really talk with that IRA song still floating about at selective England games.

An English tabloid was bound to write an article about it with the reference to Malvinas. Wouldn't give it any credence though. Just rags being rags .

Yeah it's just a bit inflammatory considering the only reference to the malvinas in the chant is the acknowledgement of the Argentinians who died there (basically a tribute).

But they are not bad. The point is that England is not worth 1.3 billion as transfermarkt tell us. Grealish 100 million? Foden 110 million? Maybe 800 million valuation would be near reality. The point is that this overvaluation make them believe it's "coming home". Meanwhile Southgate don't know how to build "fuego sagrado" or good tactics to overcome hazards.

Didnt see much of Alvarez till the world cup. Hell of a player, he gave us a ton of trouble along with scoring 2 goals of course.

And some ask is Argentina in Tier 1 of international football.

Unless something drastically happens with the quality of the Argentina next generation of players I can't see them doing well in thr next world cup because take messi out of this side and I don't think they would have got out of their group

Yes France has such better squad of players. And if Argentina is starting Paredes, thats one more advantage to France.

Nothing (at least IMO) heres a (loose) translation i grabbed online

"In Argentina I was born
Land of Diego and Lionel
Of the kids of the Malvinas
That I will never forget
I can’t explain it to you
Because you won’t understand
The finals we lost
How many years I cried
But that’s over
Because at the Maracaná
The final with the brazucas
We won it again (It really says Papa which is a cheeky dig at Brazil here and saying that Argentina are Brazils daddy but it's mild)
Boys
Now we’ve got our hopes up again
I want to win the third
I want to be world champion
And Diego
From the sky we can see him
With Don Diego and La Tota (Maradonas parents)
Cheering Lionel on
Boys
Now we’ve got our hopes up again
I want to win the third
I want to be world champion
And Diego
From the sky we can see him
With Don Diego and La Tota
Cheering Lionel on, and to be champions again, and to be champions again"

The Malvinas part seems to hace ruffled some English feathers (Falklands war) but thats still a very sensitive subject here and the song is actually just paying tribute to the fallen soldiers (a lot of whom were conscripted young Men who had no idea what awaited them).

Sorry I never got back to You the other day, if You had a top striker You would he a real force. Love your country and have total respect for You guys.

Yeah I guess its just Malvinas. Over the top to call it offensive cause of that but that's tabloids for you.

No problem mate, hope you guys do it on Sunday, looking how the whole celebrated on Tuesday cant imagine how crazy it would be if you won it. :)

It's very interesting how underrated this team is. Until now, everyone has been talking the next team is going to kick us out, be it the Netherlands or Croatia. I think we've been vastly superior to them. We should have scored 4 goals a game against every team we faced but Mexico.

And you still got the likes of Garnacho, Luka Romero, Buonanotte all incoming, while the current squad is still young. And we always get good players out of nowhere so in the next 4 years things may change.

Luka Romero aka the "Mexican Messi"?
