I think this thread will look silly in a years time. I can see him having a really good season after a season of adaptation, some decent performances and glimpses of his ability. Can see him hitting double figures for goals and assists in the PL.

They're looking to sack the tea lady to fund another transfer?

Personally, I think he will come good this season coming up. With that being said, how the f^*ck do you investigate your own club??? Hearing stuff likes this makes it almost impossible not to troll Arsenal supporters. Total joke of a club...

I'm sure every PL owner has some eyes on the ground to oversee the department that spend dozens of millions every six months.

The price was always ridiculous and I find it funny that Utd get slated over and over again for Maguire even though he’s had a miles better season and is a far better player. That all being said, I criticised Pepe a lot at the start but having watched him a lot more this year I actually think there’s a good player on there. He’s got exceptional dribbling and does carry a goal threat. I think he could answer afew critics this season.

They should simply admit - we overpaid, we thought it's Pepe the Frog himself, it happens nearly all the time in Premier League.

Pepe is really good. Not sure why hes targeted so much (I know why, you know why).

He ripped Luke Shaw apart at the Emirates and was excellent in the FA Cup Final.
He didn't rip anyone apart. He scored a scruffy goal and that was his performance. Yes he had moments here and there but to say he ripped our defenders is just bs. It's like if we say Sanchez ripped Arsenal apart at the Emirates when we won 3-1 last season.

Pepe has been ok but for 72m he has massively under performed.

So I didnt see much of him for Arsenal last season. The full stats suggest that when he actually played he was fairly effective with 5 league goals and 4 assists from the right in 14 appearances, and 1 goal 2 assists from 6 appearances on the right of a front 3. Scored a couple of nice freekicks too.

Obviously having scored 22 goals in Ligue 1 last season you would expect more goals but overall he still seems one of Arsenal's best attackers - just nowhere near an 80 million euro player.

transfermarkt had him at 65 million euros or £58 million when Arsenal signed him for £72 million. So thats 15 million euros over or £14 million over

Mind you they also had Maguire at 50 million euros and AWB at 35 million euros. So according to them we paid 20 millon euros over for Maguire and same for AWB

According to reports at the time, by paying more than the release clause we could spread the cost out and pay in installments. If we only matched the release clause we would have to pay the whole fee in one installment.
Possibly true but most transfers are paid by instalments anyway. Clubs will usually work together to find a solution if a player is leaving. The media would have you believe only Arsenal pay in instalments whereas everyone else pays upfront....

Release clauses are a different matter though. You can't negotiate how to trigger it, the method will be outlined in the clause. So if a player's clause states the club triggering it would have to pay the full sum within a week of communication to the seller, that's what they have to do.

By negotiating a fee, you get to negotiate the method of payment as well

True but these days there are also specialist financing companies out there who will lend the money upfront so you can pay the club and then pay them back in installments. Not sure how cheap or expensive that is. I remember reading that in most cases clubs will work together to make transfers work. It is in clubs interest to find amicable solutions for both parties.

And when you add interest, you end up paying more than the release clause anyways. Nobody's loaning money for free

That is precisely what happened with Torreira. Hence arsenal paying a very small premium and in installments instead of being forced to trigger the clause

I said he ripped apart Luke Shaw, which he did. Take the blinkers off

You should have Arsenal supporter on your profile given you are an Arsenal fan.
Classic response. Because I don't show bias I am an Arsenal fan. It's a talent to actually look at football from a logical standpoint and not where my thoughts and opinions are completely blinkered.

Yes and he didn't rip anyone apart. So maybe you should learn to watch the games properly. You are jusy overhyping him and his performance.

I'm not the Arsenal fan posting on a Utd forum pretending not to be an Arsenal fan :)

Looking at your posting history, I'm picturing you with a constant scowl on your face.

Server: "Hi, welcome to McDonald's! Can I take your order?"
JNicholas: "The fecks that supposed to mean?!?! Go wash your legs."

My point is, you come across as a little aggressive.

Maybe they should buy Phil Jones for his corner taking ability.

Arsenal fans could be laughing the same way regarding our Maguire/Wan-bissaka...though.
Absolutely no way. Your really comparing Pepe vs wan Bissaka & Maguire? They just had seasons that Pepe looks like he can only dream of. My lord.

And what relevance that has got to do with this thread. At least Maguire and AWB play regularly and somewhat justify their price but pepe hardly plays.

Every football fan is, not just Arsenal's but everybody has his own problems. He still got 10A and 8 goals which is similar to Wilfried "80M Arsenal should definitely buy him" Zaha best season. It's only 3 games in and if he can't take his spot back from 42y old Willian, then we'll have to take a massive hit and move him on.
Hopefully it doesn't come to this and he can have a solid season to work his way into the system. He's now officially banned from corner duty, i'd rather Leno took them.

He's a great dribbler, I think he deserves game time personally to prove himself.
