Arshavin to Arsenal

Let's see if I get this correct :

Toure and Gallas hate each other

Adebayor and Bendtner hate each other

Van Persie has always been considered a problem in a group (both in Holland and in Arsenal)

Eboue is boooed by the fans - apart from when they feel so sorry for him that they applaud him for the sake of it.

Senderos was practically boooed out of Emirates

One can say a lot about Wenger - but teambuilding doesn't appear to be his strongest side!

Not often I'll defend Wenger but in fairness hes built a couple of very successful teams and that warrants respect. In terms of the current team I think he has been guilty of putting too much faith in certain individuals who have let him down badly. The Toure transfer request was a surprise considering Wenger literally invented him as a defender. Arteta and laursen are must buys for Arsenal. They need proven premiership class players now. The young and learnin' excuse no longer holds any water.

Buy middle of the table players and you end up.... in the middle of the table.

When we bought Carrick, he was a middle of the table player. Same with Rio, Rooney, Tevez and Berbatov. Not that I'm suggesting the players linked with you are as good.

Ultimately if you buy the best players from the mid-table clubs, they tend to do well enough. It seems that you'd rather buy players from mid-table clubs abroad than at home.

Toure used to play in central midfield didn't he? Why aren't they using him there - would solve the gallas/toure partnership problem as well.

Well they weren't middle of the table players were they? They were good players at middle of the table clubs.

Shouldn't this be in the transfer forum?

I can never remember.

I think the transfer forum is just for United transfers but I'm not really sure.

Arsene
Arshavin
Arsenal.

There is a poetic justice to the world at times.

Would be a good buy for them, but he's not the type of player who can control a midfield(a playmaker if you would). Aren't they supposedly in for a defensive midfielder as well? Senna would be a good buy for them as well.

"Arsène Wenger refused to be drawn on his transfer plans when he faced the media for the first time in 2009.

The transfer window opened on New Year's Day and the Arsenal manager has already been linked with a number of players, including Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta and Russian international Andrei Arshavin. Predictably the topic loomed large at his pre-match press conference on Friday but Wenger remained tight-lipped.

"Mikel Arteta is a very good player but we have not made any enquiry about him at all," insisted Wenger.

"There is no progress [on Arshavin]. If there is any progress made you will be informed, I promise you. If we buy a player you will be informed."

He definitely seems to have some interest in Arshavin.

Seems like he wants Arshavin more than Arteta which is fair enough. I think any one of them would be a good buy, along with a more defensive minded midfielder and a centre back or two.

Perhaps

But if Arteta was called Arsteta it might be a different story

Seems almost certain he'll go there I would reckon from Wenger's comments and other reports ... great player from what I've seen (which I admit is not that much).

Slightly disappointed you didn't get him I'd assume?

Not sure what to think of him, he's known to be inconsistent and at his age I still think that's a flaw that shouldn't be ignored.

Come on Brwned ,you seem very pessimistic these days .

Pessimistic?!

I'm anything but pessimistic. What makes you say that Kouroux?:(

There's not been a lot going on recently about United, so I haven't really had much chance to show any optimism. The only half decent story there is is about Tosic and Ljajic, players I've never watched before.

I'm kidding haha
I wanna see Arshavin in the PL ,whether it'll work or not is another matter but it's sort of big name in european football and it's always nice to see them in the PL.

Yes, disappointed if he goes to Arsenal ... but Zenit wanted last summer far more than we were willing to pay and fecked us around long time with various shenanigans. I really thought it would happen at one point.

Six months later - and narrowing options for both club and player - and he'll probably go for less than we would have paid last summer. Very little chance he'd choose Spurs at the moment and I can't see much realistic competition for him besides Arsenal.

All signings always involve some risk, but he could well be the difference between Arsenal finishing 4th instead of 5th.

:wenger:

it's amazing that you can come to a United board and post that. it really is.
I presume you refer to Berbatov? If so, why is it amazing?

I don't criticise any club - including Zenit or Spurs - for playing hardball on selling prices for talented and in-demand players, even if I don't exactly like it when it comes to Spurs would-be signing targets.

The only difference re. Arshavin and Berbatov is that Man. Ud chose to cough up the very high price and Spurs didn't. That's not 'amazing', it's just a judgment call that is not yet proven to be wrong for Spurs.

Why the rolly eyes?

Don't you think that Arsenal are in a fight for 4th place? And don't you think that Arshavin could make the difference in that fight?

Senna is meant to head to City from what I've heard..

Arshavin I think is one of those unpredictable types who'll come flying in some games and crash and burn in others. He's not really of the age he'd be getting that much better but he can make a difference to them finishing 4th if he can get a couple goals, a few assists and otherwise play like he did in the Euros.. If he plays like he has this season getting subbed constantly than that's another story. His form so far has been terrible and you can claim it's because he wants to head to a new club but someone that moody and playing that poorly is a HUGE risk especially at the price being reported.... I'd rather see him at Spurs to be honest. (and all those saying I wouldn't touch him after Pav with Spurs, he had a pretty great game tonight in the FA Cup...)

Apparently, Zenit's price is too much and as of yet, no club has met their price. Arshavin is so desperate to leave, he has volunteered to pay some of the fee himself!!!. Allegedly, he has told Zenit that if they don't sell him in this window, he will go on strike

Senna has dismissed the reports of a move to Man City.

Apparently it's a done deal. Wenger is getting arshavin as we speak

Where will he fit into the team?
Isn't he a forward?

Surely they need a central midfielder and a center back more??

Obviously I know nothing...
