That's my entire reinforcement 'strategy' fecked :lol:. I have very few ideas about how to take this team forward, so I thought I'd try for that pair of full backs for dirt cheap, pray for a favourable draw in the next round, and then be rich as feck if I made it through to the following reinforcement round. Dreams shattered.

Your team is one of the strongest in it IMO - if you can pick them both up that's a cracking reinforcement.

In drafts when you can get 'pairs' like that it always works better as well. The ultimate always being Cafu / Carlos but tbh you're pairing isn't much behind that (if at all) given Marcelo's performances over the last few years.

I’m currently trying to decide how crazy to go right now.

Option A is gonna be a simple upgrade with same setup (and no mention of any Brazil side ever)

Option B is to go batshit crazy and I’ve done some number crunching to make 4 changes to bring in some top tier players but change the set up

Yes, I'd personally rate Júnior higher. The best Brazilian leftback in terms of balance after only Nílton for me, and an excellent fit as a specialist who can tuck in a wee bit à la Breitner:



Marcelo still has some question marks in terms of the strength of his overall game for me (especially when compared with Alves in recent years) - and could be a bit of a liability in our 4-man defense. More suited to a 5-man defense in an All-Time context where he has a free reign.

Having said that, Marcelo is still an active player - so his overall resumé isn't set in stone. With a great World Cup - he could very well enter a higher tier.

Have to admit to being intrigued by option B :lol:.

I'd probably go the obvious upgrade at A though if I was giving advice.

I'd have Roberto Carlos higher. He was part of a back 4 and still managed impressive attack. Him being a defensive liability tends to get overplayed in drafts.

Junior would be 3rd best Brazilian LB of all time. More versatile as you can play him DM too.
