It's been like 20 years for this movie to come out, i'm sure 7 months is nothing in comparisonLong wait until December!

Im with you!I wish Hollywood would spend its money on making more dinosaur films. There aren't enough dinosaur films.
The new Transformers Beast Wars is comingI wish Hollywood would spend its money on making more dinosaur films. There aren't enough dinosaur films.
I still regret not seeing the first one it in 3D. I'm not making that mistake again.I saw the original in the cinema and the 3D blew me away. The film itself is average though. With a good story it could have been great.
Yeh, fine?Natives (goodies) fight against invaders (baddies).
I bet this one has a completely different script, not the same (other than water v skies) at all…
It was insane back then... first time I tried the new glasses over the paper blue and red plastic shitters. It felt like being there.I still regret not seeing the first one it in 3D. I'm not making that mistake again.
Yeah, I always seen it as like a demo to show what could be done with CGI and in 3d, was it HDR too? I remember it seeming ridiculously colourful compared to everything else.As an overall film it was average to poor. But it was full of scenes that were genuinely jaw dropping to watch at the time. Way more so than any action/comic book movie of recent years. And a collection of jaw dropping scenes is basically all you want from a blockbuster. Although that might have been because it was all new to us and our palettes are far too jaded for something similar to work again.
Yeah there's not going to be a massive leap from what we've seen before but Cameron has been striving for more realism in the sequels. He didn't want the shitty underwater effects as in Aquaman so he's been spending years developing equipment that will make the underwater scenes look as if they really are underwater. The facial movements will be more realistic too capturing more detail in the facial expressions and speech etc.Yeah, I always seen it as like a demo to show what could be done with CGI and in 3d, was it HDR too? I think the 2nd will have a bit more substance story wise, but not have the visual wow factor of the first for the reasons you mention. It'll still be beautiful, but won't be anything we haven't seen before.
The first one was great fun if nothing but a standard colonisers vs noble indigenous people parable with great effects. As an overall film it was average to poor. That’s longer than Navy SEALs are tested for.Claims that Kate Winslet held her breath for 7 minutes during filming. Not impossible but I'm still going to call bullshit.

Don't breath for 7 minutes and you are risking brain damage even if you hyperventilate first. That’s longer than Navy SEALs are tested for.
Is it inspired byOfficial trailer has landed today....
Looking forward to this. Haters can just feck off.
4 and 5 won't happen if 2 and 3 aren't big successes.That's mental...
Nah, he'll still do them as it's his vision, his pet project, so to speak. He's been working on this for over 30 years. He'll be starting on some elements way before then. It's the post production that takes all the time.4 and 5 won't happen if 2 and 3 aren't big successes.
Only a small part of 4 has been filmed so far.Nah, he'll still do them as it's his vision, his pet project, so to speak. He's been working on this for over 30 years. He'll be starting on some elements way before then. It's the post production that takes all the time.
Safe to say that this thread has had precisely zero examples of over the top positivity!Edge is when you're not over-the-top positive about everything.
Because Avatar doesn't deserve it, honestly. I was just making fun of the EdgyCafe thing.Safe to say that this thread has had precisely zero examples of over the top positivity!
Miserable sods.
Can always rely on some of you guys to be EdgyCafe
Ah fair enough. I guess it all depends on what he means by 'doing well' then. As I said before if other franchises like Mission Impossible, Pirates, Fast & Furious, Transformers etc. can still rake in the shekels, I can't see any reason why Avatar won't.Only a small part of 4 has been filmed so far.

I also read an article where Cameron said 2 and 3 needed to do well at the box office for 4 and 5 to get made. I guess the risk is that they are so expensive to make that they need to do really well to even earn the costs back.
EdgeCafe?I'm extremely disappointed that a forum search reveals that EdgyCafe isn't actually a thing.
EdgeCafe had no hits at all (before your post, and now my post). I guess it's fair to say RedCafe is many things, but perhaps not very edgy.EdgeCafe?
Edgy/Edge is a weird insult. Seems to be used equally on people at both ends of political spectrum.
Given our appetite for brainless cgi entertainment you would think they should do well enough for 4 and 5 to get made. Of course 3 and 4 could be rubbish and/or tastes have moved on to all superheros all the time.Ah fair enough. I guess it all depends on what he means by 'doing well' then. As I said before if other franchises like Mission Impossible, Pirates, Fast & Furious, Transformers etc. can still rake in the shekels, I can't see any reason why Avatar won't.
The thing with Avatar was that it was visually unlike anything seen before in terms of filming, CGI, 3D, etc. They had to literally invent the camera they used to film it.I find it impossible to muster any excitement about this. Avatar wasn't even that good, and it's been so long.
Yeah, exactly. Wasn’t the first avatar the first time we got to see 3D in full colour? That was mind blowing. The thing with Avatar was that it was visually unlike anything seen before in terms of filming, CGI, 3D, etc. They had to literally invent the camera they used to film it.
These days, CGI has moved on a lot, and is used so much more and has advanced greatly, so is Avatar 2 actually going to be any better? It'll be visually stunning, yes, but will it be "never seen before" levels of stunning like the first one?
As I said before the "never seen before" stuff will be the realism of the underwater sequences and the improved facial motion capture that he's spent all this time perfecting. Whether viewers will fully appreciate it or it just go over their heads remains to be seen. It certainly won't be looking anything like Aquaman, that's for sure. The thing with Avatar was that it was visually unlike anything seen before in terms of filming, CGI, 3D, etc. They had to literally invent the camera they used to film it.
