Just goes to show that people who think Willian isn't good enough truly have eyes up their bum.

Willian is a phenomenal player. He’d be awesome for us down the right flank. It’s a pity he’s a Sarri-type player, however. He’ll love Willian.

He is an extremely inconsistent player, looked gash in the group stage matches. Looks good today.

Thrives in this type of environment doesn't change the fact that he is below par. Even Jose who supposedly loves him so much tried to upgrade on him with cuadrado

And then proceeded to play Willian over Cuadrado...

That's the frustrating thing about him, on days like today he looks like he could be top 5 in the world if he really, truly truly applied himself, but it looks like he only has world class games when he is ''in the mood''.

Incredible today though

Neymar was the key man today, and you can get away with having a dog solider winger when you have Neymar and Coutinho in your team, he's not what we need and one assist against Mexico in the World Cup doesn't change anything, he was crap in all 3 group games. All we need to do is just play Sanchez on the right and we wouldn't need to spend another wad of money.

Willian had too much space today. When games are compact he is utterly useless.

Exactly, he is brilliant when he has space ahead of him, that's why he has some amazing games when Chelsea are doing their park the bus and counter attack schtick. Against compact defense he is average .

Against tight opponent Willian frequently runs out of idea. And when that happens here what he does:

- He runs with the ball towards opponent defense.
- He slows down as he reaches near the box, and comes to halt.
- His brain hibernates for full 3 seconds.
- He wakes up.
- He shakes his body. (you might mistake this gesture as some trickery)
- He lifts his right leg and shakes. (again, not a trickery)
- Suddenly he acts like Eureka moment. He is now man with a plan.
- He passes the ball to anyone nearby and sprints for the reason highly classified, even to his teammates.

Meanwhile the defenders take their place and any marker lost his man finds him.

sounds like Valencia. He'll end up as our RB in a few years

Won't be my first choice RW signing but I would take him at United if other targets are unattainable. Brilliant little player when at his best, however, he can be a little hit and miss at times.

There is talk today that Barcelona had a £50m bid rejected and that Chelsea want around £70m

He plays RW. he has one assist, 0 goals, averaged 0.8 crosses per game, 1 key pass. Neymar has 2 goals, 1 assist, 5 dribbles per game, 2 crosses. Willian isn't even doing the Wing part very well. Would love to know what tournament you've been watching? Hes basically had one game

You forgot Neymar's 7 play-actings, 23 roll-overs-on the-pitch and 32 screams of agony.

As for Willian, he provides oodles of energy and pace - amongst a Brazilian team that's often looked ponderous and lethargic - and always looks dangerous.

I agree. Willian has been piss poor throughout the group stages and only turned up yesterday when he had the grand canyon to run into. The lengths people will go to to justify mourinho. One of the best players of the tournament? He's not even in Brazil's top 5 ffs!
He's a decent player but not good enough to take us to the next level, especially when our problem of facing deeply compact defences is his kryptonite, and especially when our neighbours are signing the likes of mahrez.

I'd take a prime Valencia over him

Hence tried. Now I remember that he even bought Pedro for the same purpose
Mourinho tried so much to replace Willian at Chelsea that he went after him as soon as he came to United. What was he doing, trying to buy him to replace him again???

Wonder what our plan b is if Willian ends up at Barcelona. If we even have one.

Probably because there aren't many options in that position at the moment

We have Lingard for this "pace and energy" position. Barca can afford to bring in a workhorse because they have flair, creativity and class elsewhere. Not to mention they even have that in this guy's position so he's literally just a cherry on top of a well iced cake. At United we'd be expecting him to be a much more important piece and will duly be disappointed when he bangs in a cool 5 goals.

Many say Martial and Rashford aren't that great/had an average season/aren't wingers, etc. but have always been far more productive than Willian as a winger, yet people here rate Willian above them? Why? because he runs hard defensively? I want teams to worry about us, not sign players in attacking positions with the primary thought of soaking up pressure and running fast as an outlet. What's the point of running fast if he does nothing with the ball at the end of it? Might as well stick Valencia there.

I want Bale as our RW, but now that Ronaldo seems to be leaving, I found difficult to see Madrid selling both.

I don't like William, but he would be the obvious choice for Mourinho if Bale is not available.

After watching him against Belgium defense anyone still wants Willian at Man Utd?

If Bale stays at Madrid... Who else is available?
Which RW do you consider would improve our attack?
