Have ye watched his YouTubes though?

I am well seasoned for OTT YouTube videos...this lad still looks like he has something special though (in my admittedly very small pool of 6/7 YouTubes with mostly similar clips watched).

I'm all for this lad, with very little basis for it other than compilations

Indeed, he passes the initial eye test based on YT clips, perhaps if there are "all touches" videos it will give us more idea of his style.

If also there are people here who watched full games of him playing we would know more.

What's your thoughts on him as someone who obviously watches him quite a lot ?

Haven't seen much of him, I did see some of the recent friendly with Ajax, didn't look bad, his touch let him down a few times but he has all the raw skills to be a top 9. Also from that game your left back and left winger were incredible.

I tend to stay away from highlights when judging a player and am more interested in general performance level in a 90 min game so am interested in your thoughts.
What do you want to know?

His style: I think he is something special and has great talent. He can dominate the air and still has great ball controll, so he is not afraid to attack the defender 1 on 1. Sesko knows how to press ( Salzburg player). I think he would be more leathal in a system, which allows him to operate more in the 16 yard box and behind the defence as a striker. It is not easy to compare him to any player, because not many have the combination of hitght and ball skill.

positiv: hight, speed, ball controll, movement (Salzburg plays a 4-4-2, the attackers have to be very mobile, passes send them not only down the middle, they have operate on the wings too.
negativ: finishing, he is a good finisher, but he tends to be sloppy on the easy ones. passing. - ok he is a striker, finishing should be his job, but as he drifts to the corners, he could improve his passing.

Latest match:
Salzburg played Austria Vienna on friday, Sesko scored. His highlitght was not the goal (it was an insane combinatio with an easy finish), he had a great run behind the defence , great first touch, great finish, hit the woodwork and the ball was cleared ?behind? the line. Austria has VAR but no GLT....

Has the look of Edin Džeko about him, sign him up, let's be proactive for once.

The reason I believe this story might have some legs is Ten Hag seems to prefer a tall target man upfront who has decent ball control skills. That’s why he bought Haller for Ajax I guess.

Also based on all the youtube videos I have now seen of Lisandro Martinez, he does ping a lot of long balls straight down the middle as well to the target man up top.

Know nothing about Sesko. Kid seems to be very talented but does look a bit too raw to get regular game time for United right now.

Man it’s
I think he’ll go for around 18 million plus a lot of add ons. Sincerely hope we’re in for him and ten Haag wants him. Ronaldo is clearly leaving and this would mean for once we’ve fully scouted a player. Perfect for backup for martial as he has injury issues. Plus he’s massive imagine a cross and header combo wow I miss those days

Salzburg uses long balls too, so he should be used to it. ( But not to the middle)

Looks incredibly overrated to me and has a strike rate of almost 1 in 4 while Salzburg apparently want £55m. Hopefully agent-fueled drivel.
That price is just to scare off the likes of Newcastle, But I'll rather Newcastle set his real transfer value for around £20-25m then we come in with a good old fashion gazump at the last minute for £28m as we did with Malacia that would be something to behold

As a Slovenian I'd love to see Šeško in United, but not for the quoted price. From what I've seen (mostly for our national team) he is still pretty raw, and there are no guarantees he will develop into top class forward.

Thanks mate, this is really good summary of the player, could be something the club can explore as ST to be developed for the future., perhaps buy him now and then loan back to Salzburg or to strong team in Germany (Leverkusen or Leipzig) where he has to compete for starting spot, he is only 19 years old, so playing time will benefit him and help him hone his game.

£55m??!! is that really reported?

He ain't worth anything close to that, Adeyemi who did extremely well with Salzburg went for £30M, this guy should not be worth anything north of £25m in total fees.

It's pretty clear already that Ten Hag wants us to find the strikers feet early and full backs bomb forward when he secures possession. So we need a forward that is strong with his back to goal, with good control and link up play. Then he needs decent movement and finishing, and obviously he needs to be able to press when we're defending.

I can see why we've been linked to Sesko, he ticks all the boxes and he should be available for under £30m. Wouldn't be against this if Ronaldo leaves, but he's young and raw so I wouldn't expect too much from him at first. There's a lot of pressure on Martial this season, but he's been impressive in preseason. Hopefully he keeps working hard and gets in that world cup squad

Seško is unlikely to cost £55 million when Adeyemi joined Dortmund for £25 million after producing a superior season.

Also, strike rate is an imprecise measure for young forwards. One of the following is Seško, and the rest are some of the greatest strikers of the modern era...
  • Player A at age 20: roughly 130 minutes per goal at club level.
  • Player B at age 19: roughly 155 minutes per goal at club level.
  • Player C at age 19: roughly 180 minutes per goal at club level.
  • Player D at age 20: roughly 195 minutes per goal at club level.
  • Player E at age 20: roughly 200 minutes per goal at club level.
Of course, there's a high chance that he will not come close to any of them over the long haul — but it's unfair to label him overrated or an underwhelming producer just yet, when he is developing and also suffered some injury-related setbacks.
Player A = Robert Lewandowski at Znicz Pruszkow
Player B = Benjamin Seško at RB Salzburg
Player C = Karim Benzema at Olympique Lyonnais
Player D = Luis Suárez at Groningen
Player E = David Villa at Sporting Gijón B

Not the best source but still.
Fair enough, agreed on the quality of the source, but in no way, shape or form, Salzburg get anything close to £55m for Sesko, or any of their players for that matter, he is worth at best €25M-€30M including add-ons. (this is the same of what they got for their best young forward players in the past few seasons like Haaland, Daka, Adeyemi and Szoboszlai).

According to club sources he has an ongoing dispute with a neighbour over a garden fence. The club are aware of the situation and are said to be "relaxed" and prepared to wait until late summer growth of a Privet hedge resolves the dispute.
No but you can sign Sesko and Carama for 50 mill. ;-) So United would get a cheap CDM player and striker....

55 mill. ??? Christoph Freund is a good manager, but he wont sell Sesko for 55 mill. The biggest problem is, Salzburg does not need the money. They already have a plus from 45 mill. € and Camara could still leave this summer, which would bring them another 30 mill. They are already in CL grouphase. Why they would sell? Because Salzburg has too many strikers: Sesko, Okafor, Fernando, Koita, Adamu, Simic are 6 Strikers in a 4-4-2. Jaissle will play a 4-3-3 sometimes and Koita and Fernando could play some minutes at the 10, but still not enough minutes for 6 players and a5 of them want to start in the Austrian Bundesliga.

Are you saying 55 million pounds (65 million euros) is not enough to sign Sesko?

Wasn't Koita meant to be very good before the cruciate? Has he got back playing yet?

Yes he was, lost a year to injury. He is on his way back now. On the fields he tries too much at the moment, but he will need some time. He was the better player than Daka, so he has the potential ....

Amazing in Football Manager! I've only seen him a couple times in real life and they were all off the bench so I can't really judge him. In terms of his strike rate, that wouldn't really worry me considering his age. I will try to watch some games this season to see how he does. If we're trusting Martial to be our 1st choice striker this season, then Sesko is the type of striker I would expect us to sign. A young, talented backup who can fill in when Martial is injured or in cup games but has high upside to improve in the future.
