Rashford apart the goal output has been poor from the other attackers. 41 goals from 42 xG is an underperformance for a team of United’s calibre. Rashford has 14G from 10 xG which means the rest have 27G from 32 xG.

Last season we scored 57 from an xG of 57. Sure we’re scoring 1.7 this year vs 1.5 last year but overall our finishing is on the same level as 21/22.
This isn't an argument of how we are better or worse as a finishing team, it's that you seem confused as to why people aren't slating McCarthy because Ronaldo and Wout Weghorst were crap in front of goal for us this year, or that Bruno skews chances wide.

Pretty sure at best when you hire a coach like this you hope he elevates one player to a noticeably higher level, which he's already done with Rashford clearly.

Nice to see him getting his flowers, Rashford's meteoric improvement has definitely coincided with him joining the backroom staff.
Hadn't considered the language thing, but he's pretty much got the whole squad covered there.

Proud that a fellow South African is having such an effect on Marcus.

Long may it continue.

He's a striker coach. He's not general play coach. He advise attackers mostly. I doubt he would add extra work to non attackers if ETH, or the player (other position) himself ask for it.

Last season we had plenty of attackers to started with before they dropped. Also experienced forwards know what they do.

This season our options is limited, and Ronaldo was incooperative. It's tall order to expect Benni McCarthy turn someone like Weghorst who is not even mid table PL level starter forward into serviceable scorer at our level. Sancho is not a scorer, so is Antony. Rashford is the closest we have in term of scorer at this level. Perhaps, he benefits more from this specialist coaching. Rashford poacher's run especially for heading chance is visibly improved

Wonder what he would say to Ronaldo to improve his finishing, doing a great job so far,

Seems like a lovely man although I do still hold a bit of grudge for that cl goal he scored against us.

Ten Hag: the bad cop
Schteve: the neutral cop
Benni : the good cop

Makes you realize sometimes being nice and likeable is very important. If he's as good as a coach but without the same personality, I don't think the players would warm up to him by this much.

No idea why this guy has been hailed as a messiah. Last season we scored 57 league goals. This season we are on course for... 57 league goals.

The real question is, how many goals could HE score up front for United in a season?

We are paying the price again this season for not having quality forward players. Rashford form all well and good but now looks like a purple patch rather than sustainable.

Benni McCarthy needs to be held accountable for the team's performance. While he may have had some successes, there are areas for improvement that cannot be ignored.

Criticism is necessary to help him identify and work on these issues, but it must be constructive and respectful. Ultimately, the club must evaluate his performance and make decisions accordingly. It's time for McCarthy to step up and deliver results for the team.

Am I missing something? It's the job of the players and manager to turn it around moreso than Benni McCarthy.

Can't seem to work his magic on Weghorst. But I guess you can't polish a turd.

The praise he’s been getting has been on the basis of Rashford heading towards his most prolific season ever. He can’t improve the goal tally of strikers that don’t play (or are Wout Weghorst)

It's important to evaluate the coach's impact on the team's performance. The coach is responsible for developing tactics, training sessions, and motivation, which can have a significant impact on the team's performance. Constructive criticism can help coaches identify areas to improve and work towards better results. Ultimately, it's up to the coach and players to work together to turn the team's performance around.

So he should get praised for Rashford but shouldn't be criticised for Weghorst?

Jesus Christ lad, stop imitating chat GPT in your posts. You're getting as bad as that fella pretending he was the manager.
