Players who just unsettle the opposition and cause a decay in their structure and tactics
A player such as Fellaini who'd elbow the shit out of everyone and serve as a massive tree to knock down the ball to other players

Not necessarily direct comparisons with the elbowing, but players who were good in the air arriving late in the box. Could throw teams off and be very effective as central defenders couldn't really break from their defensive line to challenge them as they'd be too deep to get there and/or were already marking forwards. Midfielders trying to mark them would be outmuscled much of the time.
Tim Cahill, who wasn't even tall, and Soucek being the others he used like that with very good results.
