I can not even with this BS today.
No surprise that @MoneyMay has his knickers in a twist again over something as simple as a party costume.
Stop being such an arse. People may not be aware of what you say, does that make them stupid?
Also I have just googles it.
Does it go just for actors then? Or does this apply to people dressing up for a fancy dress party?
almost an hour and he still hasn't deleted it. Crazy, given how micromanaged most athletes' social media activities are.
Just read about the blackface stuff, pretty grim. Not sure Griezmann knows about it, like i didn't either, he is just a big fan of basketball afaik. But yeah, not the wisest thing to do.
It applies to everyone and it takes one second to google blackface so yes they are stupid. You can't tell POC what they can and can't be offended by. This has a dark history and is highly offensive. Just as someone would take offense to stamping on a Poppy or something. Just a wrong thing to do
Now there is going to be a ton of posts from people who are saying they do not see anything wrong with it.
I've been on this planet 30 odd years and never heard of black face before, after researching it can see why people might be offended.
I don't think he ment anything by it though, France is a very multicultural country and so are many of Griezmann's team mates, so very much doubt he's racist and it's more of a misunderstanding
People should just explain to him what doing that means, he'll probably then delete it, say sorry and hopefully that should be the end of it, highly doubt that will happen though, as the public like celebrities to be made an example out of and pay for 'misunderstandings' with their careers.
It's a massive deal in the USA but I doubt the majority of the European population realizes how serious of an issue it is. Could be a simple case of cultural ignorance.
A reminder a white person can dress up as a black person without going in blackface. The blackface makes it racist.
It does take one second to google blackface, but in order to know the term blackface means you have the knowledge of it already doesn't it? If yoyu have never heard of blackface, how the feck are you meant to know to google blackface?
Ah lads, c'mon now..
Well according to @space that makes you stupid for not knowing the term and to google it.
The guy doesn't have much going on upstairs, which is why as a mixed race person I'm not even getting upset. You can't get angry at people who are just staggeringly stupid and ignorant.
The Harlem Globetrotters aren’t even a particularly 80s thing. I mean, if you MUST black up, at least go with Michael Jackson, give yourself some leeway.
Antoine has no excuse, he follows American sports, hip hop and even goes there on his holidays.
It's a simple case of a footballer being thick.
wow man are you really upset that I called people stupid for not being able to google blackface before commenting about it. It doesn't take a genius to know my comments are aimed at the people saying it is not offensive. Who gives a feck about the term can we talk about the act??
No idea what you’re talking about...big L..?
People are saying it isn't offensive not because they are racist, it is because they are uneducated in the term blackface. I have never heard the term before tonight, yet you think people should have googled the term to educate themselves. All I was asking is how do we google a term we know nothing about?
Correct. However, now I think about it, Griezmann had to be familiar with it somehow, or how else would he know to put it on? He probably thought it was a fashion accessory or something Honestly, footballers nowadays.
Maybe mainland Europe, but the black and white minstrel show was taken off air in the 60s because it was seen as racist (and then bought back for 10 years) at the time. People in the UK can hardly act like there's been no controversy with blackface in our recent history.
The Netherlands still have the "Black Pete" Christmas tradition and the German national team had a picture in blackface like last year.
Edit not the German national team
by typing it into google??
By typing what into google?
Not knowing the term, means you don't know how to research it.
The Netherlands faced severe backlash last year, if I remember correctly. They've toned it down to a more socially accepted version of that particular tradition now. Dunno enough about the German NT pic to comment.
Or go as 90’s Jackson and white up.
How did he ever think this was a good idea?
He must live a very, very sheltered life.
This is the worst argument in the history of the world btw. Have you used google before?
What's wrong with it? Genuinely curious.

Right let me put it this way ffs. If someone isn't aware of the term blackface (like myself), and thinks dressing up as a black basketball star isn't racist, then what exactly am I googling?
Huge mistake on my part it was Deinster SV.
That doesn't make any sense mate
'Why is dressing up as a black person racist?'
We just need to stop fancy dress parties.
I'm confused. Educate me before we go any further. Him dressing up as a black basketball player says what to you?
Dressing up as a black person is not racist. Using blackface to dress up as a black person is racist.
I really do pity caucasian people these days, can't do something innocently without the sins of people in the past whom you've no connection to, coming back to bite you.
No we don’t.
Separate names with a comma.
