Currently on my third rewatch. It’s the greatest show ever made and I refuse to hear otherwise.

But, for some reason I never really thought about how ridiculous the plane crash is in season 2. Gus walking around with half of his head missing usually gets the most stick but the plane crash just seems a bit much.

Saul is my favorite character from Breaking Bad so I really wanted to like it but I gave up after the first season because it was so incredibly slow paced.
First few seasons are slow, last couple it essentially just becomes more Breaking Bad. It’s definitely up there with it.

First few sounds like a lot.. but if it gets me to more Breaking Bad I'll definitely give it a go.

First few is dramatic. It incrementally gets better tbh, especially when Mike’s story arc picks up a bit. Eventually it definitely reaches Breaking Bad levels, and certain episodes even surpass it you could argue.

Still, I prefer Breaking Bad for its consistency. Watched Crawl Space last night; one of the most iconic endings to tv episode ever.

I nearly gave up with it too for the exact same reason. It does pick up a lot.

Those early seasons give a lot of context to what happens later too.

Also, I fancy Kim

I'm not entirely on board with the opinion BCS is as good as BB, because even if it could be it's always "easier" to expand a universe than to build it from scratch, but it's definitely 100% worth watching if you remotely enjoyed BB. I had 0 issues with the pacing and totally fell in love with some of the performances, particularly Kim's. Rhea Seehorn gave masterclass after masterclass, it was truly mesmerising.

I love BB, it’s one of my favourites. I still have Sopranos as my number 1 though.

It's worth sticking with. I gave up in S1 on my initial watch too but about 3 or 4 years later I went back to it and binged the whole thing. It's brilliant. Slow burn at times but the pay-offs are excellent.

i actually watched the first two seasons for BCS before i watched BB, and the arrival of Jimmy in BB was a genuine boner moment.

Turns out I watched more than 1 season of BCS back in the day but can't for the life of me remember how much more.. Currently binging S2 but my memory is so shit that I can't remember anything except for a few snippets here and there after the fact, which is a good thing I guess.

What's a bit weird though is that I don't mind the pace of it now, even when I'm watching stuff I realize I've watched before. Now it could be because I've grown more mature, wise, patient and handsome in the 5-6 years since I last watched it, and most likely that's it, but I guess it could also be because you guys said it will pick up later as well. Still, a win either way.

Thank you! However, does it keep its top spot even though I watched more than one season? I hope it does.

Crawl Space is probably my favourite episode of TV ever. That Ending is just phenomenal.

The GOAT show for me.

Face-Off and Ozmyandias are the only two better imo, but I’d say all 3 are better than anything else. Maybe it’s just a bit of bias because I’m rewatching now.

I watched Face-Off yesterday. The series could have easily ended there and I don’t think it would have been a let down.

Watching a prequel before the show it was spun-off from seems so weird to me.
If it were in perfectly chronological order I think it could be quite a fun way of watching it, I’d you were going in completely blind. But that wouldn’t work that well in this instance.

The way they handled Hank finding out, his reactions and the reaction of people around him was excellent. Could have easily been much more of an anti-climax.

Different strokes for different folks but I found Breaking Bad to be significantly better than Better Call Saul.

I remember being completely mad about this show, watched it religiously with the missus until the end, 3 episodes per day sometimes and waiting before the last 6 episodes looked like forever. Might give it a rewatch after I finish The Wire.

This thread coming back to life has persuaded me to go in for another re-watch, think this will be either my fourth or fifth time through. Will start tonight, what a show!

All excellent. Hard to split the three, although I place Ozymandias very slightly below the other 2. But the last few episodes of series 4 are IMO the best TV I have ever watched so it is hardly a criticism.

Yes, and Aaron Paul's performances are totally out of this world. Has he been that good in anything else since?
He was pretty good in Bojack Horseman, but obviously in a completely different type of role. I also liked him in the recent episode of Black Mirror

Found the overall story of Breaking Bad far more enthralling than Better Call Saul, but the supporting actors in BCS are significantly better and more interesting than Breaking Bad's (Chuck/Kim/Lalo/Nacho/Howard) which brings it up levels.

I went into BCS liking Saul from Breaking Bad, but not being overly keen on watching an entire show based on him, to completely loving it and rooting for Jimmy (and Kim). I also don't remember hating anyone in Breaking Bad as much as Chuck, only to then feel bad for him at the end. Amazing shows.

(Last bit might be a spoiler, just in case).

I loved Breaking Bad and it is probably my all time favorite show. I started watching BCS a few times and never get past 1 or 2 episodes of series 1 before getting distracted and trying again in a few year's time. Rinse and repeat.

I'll have to try again and try to stick with it this time.

BCS can seem very slow for the first couple of seasons. It's why so many people dropped it because it seemed to be going nowhere. If you stick with it though, you start to realise why they took their time. Some of the best character building that's ever been done. It just keeps getting better and the last few seasons are easily on par with the best of Breaking Bad for me.

Yeah I saw the first season of BCS and didn't really get into it. If it does pick up and get better than that maybe I'll give it a second chance sometime.

It's slow throughout. Good and worth it – but excruciatingly slow at times. I'd like to see the four-season supercut.

Really? Hank, Gus, Mike, Saul, Hector, Gale, Todd aren't up there with those you mentioned? The supporting characters in Breaking Bad were so good BCS was based on them.

It will probably help being able to watch episodes back to back without having to wait a week between each one. I know a few people who didn't get into it initially, but caught up when the last season was airing. They haven't complained about the pacing anywhere near as much as other friends who watched it week on week
