if we overpay we lose, if we don't sign a midfielder we lose too ... either way, Woodward will come out of this as the loser in the eyes of many people. Don't get me wrong, I hate the man as much as most other fans do - but he simply can't win this one.
If Ed and Judge were any good at their job they'd now be saying to Sporting the top figure they're willing to pay, give them 2 days to think about it and if Sporting don't think it's enough then we go on to the next target. The problem with these 2 clowns is they don't know when to pull out of negotiations and I'm sure they don't have a plan B for another player.
Every season is the same. Remember the Cesc fiasco? All summer the club were in negotiations with Barca and once again we didn't have a plan B when that deal fell through except for signing Fellaini on deadline day for more money than what we could of got him for a few weeks earlier. Absolute joke of a club in so many departments.
Glad someone else can see this & is mature enough to not overthink and conjure up of some elaborate hoax of what the club *might* be doing, when in fact it’s far simpler and easier to understand than that
Nothing to do with maturity. Our club is completely useless in transfer dealings. I'm not saying there's any conspiracies but if it's true that Sporting want more money and the club aren't willing to pay it then just pull out of the deal which would give the club more time to look at other targets instead of waiting until deadline day and either paying what they wanted anyway or not signing anyone. Incompetence at the highest level.
I'm all for going big for players if its justified, but it isn't for Bruno. They're asking way more than his value, we shouldn't give in.
Aren't we doing exactly the same thing with Pogba. Do you think he was worth 150m in the summer? And Bruno is worth far more to Sporting than Pogba is to us.
I agree we shouldn't give in but the club just doesn't know when to walk away from these sort of deals.
