The thing is, now you'll have Odegaard and Martinelli asking for that level, who probably deserve even more than Saka.
When they look around and see the likes of bang average Sancho on £350k it makes it difficult. No offence.

Players hold the power, you either pay it or they leave. I am just happy it looks like he is going to sign, he deserves to earn well.

Fair point. Just think it's harder for a club like Arsenal to pay this type of salary and keep that structure than United or City.

I don't see the problem with the deal. Saka and Odegaard are probably their best players anyway so they deserve to earn well - and 200K a week is nothing much these days compared to what lots of big clubs fork out for their players.

Yeah I know. Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli and Saliba will cost the club around 200k a week each.

Its more than doable, I mean we were paying 600k a week for both Ozil and PEA not long ago.

Could see him at City as a Mahrez replacement next season.
Would you sell them Antony ? Course not. So why would we sell them Saka who by next season will be commencing a 5 year deal?

Hope you dont have a direct line to Edu

Hmm. Do Arsenal have a history of losing their best players, in particular to Man City, and United don’t?

The last time an player left Arsenal for Man City was 2014. So in 2023, 9 years will have passed. How much longer can that narrative be spun, this idea there is a pathway from Arsenal to Man City? We didnt even sell Sagna, his contract expired and he went to City. The last actual sale was Gael Clichy in 2011.

In another 10 years we will still be Man Cities feeder club according to some. Do you remember when Adebayor and Nasri went from Arsenal to Man City.....and the answer will be no because it was an eternity ago

Who do you think you had over the last 10 years that City would have wanted? Sanchez was one until we took him away from Pep

And Clichy Sagna, Kolo Toure were must have defenders??? City get branded as having their pick of Arsenal players, even though of the 5 players they signed, none were among the greatest players to play for us. We have signed better players form them, than they have signed from us.

Brighton priced them out of a move for Cucarella. They are not infallible and do not get every player they want. You said so yourself, you beat them to Sanchez. Furthermore, if they wanted Saka fresh into a 5 year deal. Would City think they could do it for less than they signed Grealish for???? We would qoute them a fee so ridiculous they would balk, but like they did with Brightons asking price for Cucarella

All this 'If City want, City get' talk is just rubbish.

They still lose their best players often even if it isn’t to Man City. The idea of Arsenal not selling a top player to another club being ridiculous is itself completely ridiculous

Your not moving with the times. Arsenal are spending money like we havent seen before and paying really high wages.

Your thinking it so simple and generic. Your not even crediting the fact Saka is a boyhood Arsenal fan.

You forgot we had a stadium to pay for. Arsenal are in a very sound financial position.

All I took from this is you'd rather sell us Saka than them. You have a friend in me!

Currently on 30k a week! If I were Saka I'd wait until the summer to see where Arsenal finish and what potential offers are available. If he's settled in London, he'll probably sign a new contract though.

Yea Arsenal have to get him on a new contract. He probably should be on about 150K per week but if the negotiation power is with him so he will likely get 200K + and it will be a good deal for all involved IMO.

I think we should 100% be throwing a bid at him. Great little player and can play all over the pitch.

No we wouldn’t we are Real Madrid’s feeder club not City’s.
  1. Because they are a bigger club than you are.
  2. Saka seems ambitious he may want to move to win things he might not win at Arsenal
  3. City will need a left footed RW
  4. City need quality English (homegrown) players
  5. Saka fits the profile of player
  6. City have previous for buying for big money from selling clubs
  7. The only reason City haven’t bought more from Arsenal recently is you had no players worth buying
  8. Now you do (Saka)
  9. City have done a lot of business the other way as a possible sweetener (Jesus and Zinchenko)

He’ll be the latest in a long line of players that have outrageous bonuses added to contracts.

Arsenal would do well to offer massive bonuses attached to;

2023 - Top 4
2024 - Top 4 AND Quarter Final CL
2025 - Top 4 AND Semi Final CL.

They’ve got a graduating class that could unite around the idea of growing together. 2025 wouldn’t see any of them past their most valuable periods.

They all seem to love Arteta, and the club, and each other.

So youve spoken aoubt City's needs

Do Arsenal get a say in this? Are we allowed to reject any bids, and is Saka allowed to stay at Arsenal?

Point 9 also makes no sense. I cant wait for the news to drop and the 5 year deal become official

Still not worth it. ;)
well, that's the business of Edu. Players come and go. If Edu can't convince him or any player that it is their best interest to stay with Arsenal then I wish them well for their next adventure. There are so many young players and talent out there waiting for opportunity. There is always the next Bruno Guimarães or Lius Diaz waiting for their big moves.

Did you really just say Man City are a 'bigger club' than Arsenal ?
