I remember only one successful pass from Rooney to RvP in the half an none from RvP to Rooney.
To be fair, he played two pretty decent through balls for Mata but Mata just didn't have the pace to get on them.

RvP is so bad that I don't believe how he started today ahead of Welbeck and Januzaj.

Yeah and we're playing without a LWB and midfield.

After spending so much this season, I think it would be criminal for United to finish outside 4. I think top 2 should be expected by management after so much spending.

rvp and mata have been awful. There is very little off the movement off the ball, and they've both been hauled up too easily. While we know that the defence has not been good, these two have to really step up their game

Di Maria is lively, confident and extremely capable. Unfortunately nobody else is.

Won't be long before he starts to doubt himself if this carries on.

Why persist with 3-5-2 when against the lower sides it's not working?

Di Maria in a half has already proved he's a class above everyone else out there. Fletcher and Evans are just so awful, it's time to cut the grace period for Fletcher and replace him.

Di Maria is playing further up the pitch than Mata and basically even with Rooney.

    Half-Time
    - Rooney & RVP partnership doesn't work
    - We should drop one of them to play just one striker
    - Mata has been shit
    - Fletcher is done
    - Defenders don't know how to play 3 at back
    - Di Maria  (imagine him on wing )
    - De Gea is saving us
Bit unfair on Fletcher IMO. He is the only player playing in midfield.

Rooney and RVP look like 2 schoolkids who hate each other but have been told they must talk to each other.

The passing to each other looks so forced and unnatural.... will they ever be able to play together?

We have had one single key pass (pass that went to a player who got a shot away) that half. One.

No surprise it was from Di Maria

Time for LVG to haul off at least one of our attacking trident. At least Di Maria looks class - first time in a while we've had a player that you get excited whenever he gets the ball.

de gea has been good. saved us on two or three occasions. looks alert.
valencia, young, fletcher have been awful. as usual.
evans and van persie have been very poor, but both are just coming back into the team and will need some time.
mata has been very bad as well. doesn't seem at the races at all.

rooney and jones have been quite good. closest things to leaders we have on the pitch.
blackett has mixed the good with the bad. that'll happen. he's 20.

di maria looks class. can't wait to see himself and herrera link up with an inform mata.

i'd like to see young off for kagawa at half time. move to a 4-3-3 with rooney and adnan either side of rvp upfront.

Fletcher might look like he is struggling but he is actually doing well considering that he he basically alone in CM.

Our transition is too slow. Passing is much better today

We definitely could have used Herrera in midfield today. :(

Well, that was dissapointing yet again. AdM looked lively. Fletcher, RvP, Rooney, Evans, Mata and Blackett all terrible. De Gea and AdM United's best. I'm growing pretty tired of the constant sideways and backpasses between the three at the back. Impossible to gain any momentum when those three and Fletcher playing like that.

Some improvement from opening two games, mainly down to DiM and towards end of first half Evans looked bit better BUT Rvp loks as if he has forgotten how to play. Twice could send the ball wide but went for an almost-impossible Hollywood ball to Rooney. RvP desperately needs a goal or two. If he had scored in opening minutes he would be firing. As for Mata, well, I stick by my opinion that Mourhino really stuffed us on that one.

Burley have been good, but we should have had a pen. Van Persie should have done better at the end there but he couldn't have done much more with earlier chance. Di Maria is class. Januzaj for Rooney or Mata. Valencia is clearly a better defender than Young.

I hate how he tries to simulate even when he is fouled. He is going to fall anyway but he makes a random movement to emphasize it.
Ok you're reaching now, he is trying to catch his balance (reflex)

The good thing is that the back line and midfield are def. going to change ..... forward line is not though and that is why we need fix this.

We do have a lot of crap players. Proof if needed that SAF could make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Our back 3 are criminally shit on the ball, thats the problem here.
Evans is, other 2 are fine, they are getting no help from the midfield, its punt it or play it back to another defender. Fletcher is making himself unavailable, just watch him.

Leave this dreadful formation now please, Young off and move Blackett to LB. Get Januzaj on. I would even get Anderson on for Fletcher at this point. Atleast he wants to drive the ball forward and not only passing it backwards every time he gets it.

Everyone seems more interested to hoof it even though Di Maria keep coming back wanting the ball. Ridiculous.

di Maria is who the side needs to be shaped in the mould of. Left side of a three man midfield alongside Herrera and Blind. Januzaj and Welbeck providing width and Rooney/RvP upfront. This set up is hopeless.

Actually happy we are getting Blind now. Surely better than Fletcher...

Don't agree with those criticising Rooney. He's having to track back to see any of the ball and he hasn't done much wrong in those positions at all. In fact, he's making some good runs from deep and playing nice one-twos with RVP, but most of the one-twos aren't accurate (mostly down to RVP's passing). Unfair imo. Di Maria having a great debut though. De Gea and Jones the other top performers for us.
Rooney must not be criticized , he is captain of both club and country so he must be world class after all ,

What are you on about? He just falls over due to the guy pushing him. What random movement? His arm? We use our arms for balance...

I want to see Van Gaal take Mata off and put another centre mid on, even bloody Anderson. It's not working with 1 centre mid in Fletcher.

I feel like this formation doesnt suit Di Maria that well, he's forced to play in the middle where he doesnt have as much space as if he was in 1 of the wings.

We're lacking threat from the wings and with all the hoof balls aor middle play its much easier to defend agaisnt.

I would love to see Di Maria spend more time on the wings with more space/freedom and just unleash him!

Another disappointing half of football, but i guess it is to be expected as we lack any midfield. I really don't understand football mentality, but I just can't understand why some of these players are performing like this. Young fletch and tony v aren't great but this is burnley, Evans Jones? Some of these guys have been brilliant against Europe's best, what is going on in there heads?

That being said we will get better when LVG can field his favored 11, mata rooney and rvp need to up their game tho, 1 half of a match and Di Maria is already outshone them for the season...

For now we must be patient, love the away support though

Our midfielders are so bad, that we should just throw Rothwell and Pearson in the field.

Ignoring the shambles at the back. RVP and Mata should really have converted those chances. Criminal from our top players.

I'm still confident we will win this game if our attackers turn up.

It seemed like it was Burnley Vs Bolton and not united. Hopefully we improve the passing and stop hoofing it up in second half

Our centre backs need to stop being such puddles. It's possible to find team mates forward with passes.
