Carabao Cup 2021/22

4 out of 5 vs PL teams.
1 in 4 vs CL teams.

That’s so fecking crazy.

I wonder how City compare?

EDIT: Only two out of the 15 PL fixtures against teams that would usually be considered “bottom half” I know the draw gets biased towards stronger teams over time but still…

You'd laugh when you see Citys last 3 seasons of cup draws.

So what will happen with the PL match vs them on the 19th? Just wondering on dates. Twice in a row?!

Oil money can buy you a lot of stuff.

Somebody post their domestic cup draws for the last 6 years again and tell me that's all above board. There is no way anyone is that lucky.

And CL. They’ve been being served up chaff like Monaco, Lyon and Spurs and still fecked it up. Pep’s only won 1 fa cup as wel if that’s right despite all the favourable draws.

*Sigh* Of course we get a PL team. Fully prepared to get another CL group of death now.

Plus I mean you're pretty much guaranteed to get a PL side once you make it to the semi finals and then the final so they almost don't count.

I wouldn't mind it either if I'm being completely honest, but chances are high that Ole picks a strong side. I just hope he rests Bruno at the very least.

If you remove the Final/Semi Final fixtures as the majority of the case it should be against PL Clubs. You're left with 8 PL fixtures from 22 games.

City's 108 cup goals since Palace's last cup goal don't seem so crazy now huh? This is getting beyond ridiculous now.

Was it an FA cup or League cup game last year vs West Ham which went to extra time? One of the worst games I've watched, fell asleep multiple times.

Must have been bad because it’s completely wiped from my memory.
It was last seasons FA Cup 5th round. United won 1-0 AET with a McTominay goal.

West Ham bought on former United youngster Ademipo Odubeko as a sub, and then subbed him off later after he'd struggled. But a couple of months later I was watching him score a hat trick for West Ham's U23's, including a last minute winner, as they beat us 3-2 after we'd led 2-0.

Even looking at the few PL ties they've played, aside from a QF against Leicester in 2018/19, it's all midtable (Everton/Arsenal) or bottom of the table (Southampton, Burnley, Fulham, Newcastle).

That last bit is great to hear. Thanks. He’s Irish and I felt terrible for him when he was subbed off.

Home draw is the most important thing. Should be a good game vs West ham but expect us to beat them comfortably. Only negative is probably won't see as many kids.

We played West Ham twice last season in the space of about 2 weeks in the cup then the League , both at home, both terrible games and both 1-0 wins.

Moyes has been coming to Old Trafford and parking the bus for 20 years. So boring.

I just checked this myself. 15 of those fixtures were against PL clubs, 3 Championship, 2 League One and 1 League Two.
Surely that's not possible if it's random. The split between the divisions should be far more even no?

That's very, very lucky. There's typically around 50% PL teams in the 3rd round, and avoiding PL teams 7 times in a row should only happen around 0.8% of the time. (0.50^7 ~ 0.0078)

That's the team that Guardiola was moaning about having to play?

A team containing De Bruyne, Sterling, Torres Foden and Mahrez?

I'm convinced it's him trying to convince himself he has it as hard as other managers.

It's like he's trying to trick himself that he's not playing FIFA on semi pro or Amateur difficulty level.

Klopp is such a gurning wanker. Hope Norwich knock the fecking smile off his face

Interested to see what Gordon can do for Liverpool. Looked one of England's best players in the recent international break.
They always look good for England then the reality hit home...they have zero chance of playing for England under this boring set up
