He didn’t have a good game at all, looked tired - but at the same time he scored a very good goal which was very important

Love him, his vision, passing and movement is really good!
But he is unfortunately slower than Mata these days, to see him trying to defend against quick agile players is painful. We really need to find an Eriksen with legs.

Obviously has a very high IQ and is great technically but he is not a central midfielder and definitely cannot play in a 2. He is an attacking midfielder relying on his talent to try to play CM but that is not what a club of this stature should be relying on in midfield. We need actual central midfielders in midfield.

We really need an additional and proper option for his position. We will run him into the ground

Five assists in fifteen PL games for United so far. Same as Fred, who has 116 PL games for United. Two more than Mctominay, who has 132 PL games for United.

Solid game, but he is incredibly slow isn't he? It's very obvious in defence

He's now a complete Manchester United player given his corners now are underhit and hit the first man :wenger:

But it's great to have him. We have a proper midfield

If our line was higher, it would probably be okay, but sometimes it's pretty deep and that's way too much space for him to cover.

 seriously, what's with that??

You have great set piece players come here, and all of a sudden seasoned professionals under no pressure can't deliver a good ball into the box :houllier:

Eriksen, Bruno, Shaw are all very, very good set piece experts with their national teams. Shaw is preferred over anyone else in an England shirt, in fact he told Rashford and others to take a walk over free kicks a few times and they had to trudge away, Bruno - preferred over Bernado Silva, Eriksen basically unchallenged, then they put on this red shirt and can't beat the first man? Mystifying

Quietly racking up the assists for us.

Eriksen was never great at corners, even at Tottenham a lot of fans were baffled as to why he always took their corners.

He so far had two assists from corner I think.
I thought that's pretty good no?

btw, thought he had a very good game vs Forest. Composed, calm and solid. Nothing very stellar but always available, very involved in the build-up and kept the team tick.

I'm happy with Eriksen so far.

Quietly gets the job done. Quality footballer who improves the team. Our possession game is so much better with him in the team

Considering he was a freebie, he’s been excellent. I’m glad that he looks good in that deeper midfield role too, on top of the attacking midfield role we all know him for.

First couple of games were a bit shaky but, our midfield 3 now compared to 7-8 months ago is night and day.

You could argue that he’s been one of the most underrated signings in the Premier League this season

Plays football like a grown up, which we badly needed. Nothing too flashy but has the brain to do the right thing at the right time. Top signing.

Price/performance ratio is the best this season

My take on the player: A tad overrated!
May be some truth to this.

But relative to our other options, I think he’s bit of a revelation. We are a different team with him besides Casemiro. Obviously not when defending, but ETH aim to control matches, and Fred/McTominay cannot do that.

He is and has been a fantastic stop-gap solution for us, buying us some time to find a long term solution for our midfield.

Thought he struggled a bit and wasn’t in the game as much as he usually is. Looked too fast and physical for him.

This is why we need a quality midfield addition to this team. In games like this where we know its going to more physical than tactical his influence is reduced by a considerable amount.
A player like Enzo or Caicedo could have matched the intensity and physicality as well as giving something special on the ball.

He's a zero out of possession always but in half the games we need his technique and cutting edge. In scrapfests like this against high-intensity geed up sides Fred is the better option. We need a midfielder either way who has both consistent quality on the ball and off it this summer, ideally a disciplined ball progressor.

It always looks too physical for him.

Ten Hag is taking a gamble basically every game with him but it mostly works because of his passing and intelligence.

Think I’d rather Fred starting in these tricky away games. Lacks a bit of intensity.
Agreed - I think with Adama coming on, leaving Eriksen there was asking for trouble. Fred brought on some lacking intensity.

The whole team was so lax in the first half. That's another reason I want Martinez back regardless of how well Shaw is doing

Basically every game is. Can't blame him, he fecking died on the pitch but he's not a starter for us, he's a squad player and we should look at an upgrade when we can.

Will give him the benefit of the doubt & just put it down as an off day like a few of his other colleagues. He’s been generally excellent this season. A very shrewd signing.

He has done well in the deep-lying position but he's an attacking midfielder. We need an actual CM in the position he currently occupies.

He is simply not good enough, even when he looks like he runs around a lot, he still simply lacks quality for any pass that is longer than 3 meters.
Very harsh assessment

I'd go with this
