Could Barkley be the answer?

Watching our number 10's this season we obviously lack quality in that position. They don't fit in with Mourinhos philosophy for the rest of the team being strong,athletic players.

With Barkley out of contract in the summer and his previous experience playing with Lukaku would he be worth a punt?

He is quick,strong,technical and versatile and is a proper premier league player. With all the talk of Ozil I can't help but think someone like Barkley would fit us much better.

I know his decision making is poor but that is one thing that Beaty always improves with age. What do you guys think?
 
Depends what the question is. If the question who should Utd not sign then he's one of many answers.
 
Barkley is such a curious one. His technique on the ball is top class. He looks like he has all the ingredients to be a top player but then his decision making doesn't equal his technical quality, therefore, he has issues making the final pass and instead causes attacks to break down.
 
If Barkley is the answer we are not asking the right questions.

We need a consistent #10 that can get the ball to the forwards quickly and connect midfield to attack. Better set piece delivery would be an added bonus.

No more budget options like Mkhitaryan and Mata.
 
Nope, would only add to our list of overhyped ‘nothing’ players like Lingard, Mkhi and Mata who all go missing too often.

He's better than all three. Especially Lingard. Given he's out of contract in the summer I think he'd be a good signing.

He's not better than Mata & Mikhi, what has he ever done to be classed above those guys? I'm not even sure what he's done to be classed above Lingard at this point.

He's clearly better than Lingard. I can't even debate that it's so obvious.

With regards the other two he's just a better player. Always been a fan of Mata but at this stage he's just too slow, too weak. Gives us next to nothing from the right and won't ever be selected as a 10. Barkley would better suit us and the league we play in.

I don't rate Mkhitaryan. He just hasn't got the mentality to play here. Simple as that really.

I had high hopes for Barkley back in 2014 but he just hasn't developed into a top 4 calibre player.

Where do you see him playing for us? His decision making doesn't seem good enough for the number 10 spot at this point in time.
 
Every free transfer is the answer, lets get all in, in worst case, sell them year later for profit FM style.
 
If the question is: "Name one potential transfer that would offer absolutely nothing to us", then the answer is indeed Barkley.
 
He's not good enough.

I mean people have already written off Juan Mata and Barkley couldn't lace his boots.
 
Crazy how dismissive people are of this it would be a free transfer and he is still a young player with huge potential.

On his day he is very good and the key point in all of this is that he would fit our team better than the current options in his position.

We were going to get Griezmann and now we are talking about Barkley. WTF!!!
Mata and Miki (when in form), I think, are both better than Barkley. And when Ibra gets back and slots into the No.10 position, Barkley will be 4th choice.
 
If getting him on a free allowed us to go big on Griezmann and move on Mata/Mhiki I would be ok with it, whether he would come here as a squad player though, I doubt it. Would prefer Ozil though if we are looking at free transfers.

I'm not sure. At 10, the third midfielder if we set up that way, he can play on the right. His flexibility is a plus.

I always think there's a bit of snobbery when it comes to players from clubs like Everton. We saw it with Lukaku in the summer.
 
First things first, our squad is deep. We have players but they are not quality players that would make significant difference on their own. Barkley comes into the Lingard mould. While City have Sane, Sterling and Bernando Silva coming off the bench, we would have Lingard, Barkley and Mata coming off the bench. We're already paying Lingard 100k a week. Not interested in adding another mediocre and average player and taking up our wage budget. The only reason Lingard is in the squad because he can run and he offers the option of tracking back. And obviously, he's a home grown player and he's best mates with everyone.
 
Enough with half solutions. Mikhi, mata, ozil are all good players but we need some world class in attack. I would prefer rather new right winger but if we are talking now about no10 then griezmann is only player that we should buy. Him or nobody
