Team Mani

Mani's 11

1.S.JAYASURYA
2.G.KIRSTEN
3.G.GAMBHIR
4.D.JONES
5.MS. DHONI -(WK) - (C)
6.S.RAINA
7.H.STREAK
8.S.WARNE
9.M.MARSHALL
10.S.BOND
11.M.MORKEL

Write up..

Team is well balanced and spinner(S.Warne) remains confident of bowling in any type of pitches, I'll be going with same team for all three pitches.

1.This team got the complimentary opening partnership with (S.Jayasurya & G.Kirsten) Sanath would be more attacking and Kirsten would provide the support Jayasurya requires. These two can play perfect stqrt the team requires.

2.MIddle and lower middle order(G.Gambhir/D.Jones/MS.Dhoni/S.Raina)
Middle order is well suited to grind out those middle over and provide stability at the same time score some quick runs In death overs.
All 4 got perfect nerve to pace the innings in such a way to chase it while batting second or put together a mammoth total when batting first.
H.Streak coming at 7 shows the length of the batting order,he’s hard hitter of cricket ball and can clear boundaries at ease.

3.Bowling (M.Marshall /S.Warne /S.Bond/M.Morkel/H.Streak) + S.Jayasurya

I'm going with 5 bowlers, led by M.Marshall ,who can swing the ball either ways at the same time who is more efficient to bowl at the death overs with yorkers, his partner in crime would S.Bond the Aussie buster, his accuracy and pace would trouble any top batsmen and can bowl those Yorkers in death overs like Marshall.M.Morkel would come up as first change, who rely on naming line and length which is difficult to score aganist.Middle overs will be handled by S.Warne, (best spin bowler of the world had ever seen) will be controlling those middle over to provide is usual breaks for the team supported by H.Streak and S.Jayasurya.

4.MS.Dhoni -Captain / Wk

Team marshalled by more efficient captain MS.Dhoni, he's not just the explosive batsmen, he improves batsmen's around him gives them much needed confident, which obviously translates to much better batting side while team decides to chase.Staying behind wickets helps him in set perfect fielding.Man had led country to two World Cup success.

Work Cup winners in the team line up:

1.S.Jayasurya - (Player of the tournament 1996 WC)
2.G.Gambhir - (Winner of WC 2011) Crucial 90 in final gave perfect platform to chase.
3.MS.Dhoni -Winner of 2011 WC, captains knock in final coming lower down the order.
4.S.Warne- Winner of 1999 WC, perfect bowling finger in SF and Final.

Team Fiskey

Team:

1. Saeed Anwar
2. Quinton De Kock
3. Joe Root
4. Angelo Matthews
5. Hanse Cronje
6. Imran Khan
7. Moeen Ali
8. Keiron Pollard
9. Darren Gough
10. Dale Steyn
11. Muttiah Muralitharan

Weaknesses

I think my biggest weakness is probably the middle order. On a seaming pitch, should I think my biggest chance of losing would be losing a couple of early wickets. My hope would be that Matthews, Cronje and Khan as leaders and fighters would be able to fight through such a situation.

Strengths

I think I have a good chance on a spinning pitch. Muralitharan speaks for himself, and I would have the potential to bowl 30 overs of spin with Root and Ali. I really like my top 3, Anwar was a cricketer very much in the modern mould of one day openers and Root averages over 50 coming in at number 3. I actually think Root has been a better one day player than test player so far in his career, and his contribution to England's world cup winning team is underrated.

It's Mani for me, stronger batting and comparable bowling. Fiskey has a good chance on the spin wicket with his stronger slow options but I don't see him winning on the flat nor the pacy track.

My opinion about Fiskey's team remains as his previous match against Anant,Imran needs to move up in the batting and Angelo needs to bat lower who can come in at death overs for some quick runs. Its not like Imran could't bat lower but I feel like he would be ideal player to consolidate the innings in middle overs where as batsmen around him can look for some quick runs.I like his bowling combo of Steyn/Imran/Murali, and bowlers coming after these three would struggle to control the innings and will struggle against my batting order especially in flat and pitches which are slow in nature. Gough in ODI is average at best and can be decent 4th bowler but other two bowlers for 5th and 6th option will give away some easy runs.

Round 1 Match #8 -Harshad vs Raees

Please adjudicate as to which team will win over a 3 match series with a match each on following pitches -

#2 Good batting pitch with assistance for seamers/pacers - Reasonably good surface for batsmen; fast bowlers can exploit some movement off the pitch with new ball along with reasonable bounce; no particular assistance for slow bowlers or spinners.
#3 Good batting pitch with assistance for spinners - Reasonably good surface for batsmen; fast bowlers will get no help from the pitch; spinners will be able to exploit the pitch with an older ball
#4 Good bowling pitch for seamers/pacers: pacers/seamers will be get assistance throughout the match; spinners will not get any assistance; batsmen will have to dig deep to make runs against pacers.

Team Harshad.

Why I would win:
  • Great opening pair with Sir Viv coming at #3
  • Solid middle order with Hussey and Haddin to provide the sparks needed in late innings
  • Great bowling unit with the Garner leading the attack - Both Starc and Shami are close to averaging 2 wickets per match!

Note: On first blush it may appear that I am a bowler short but in a 50 over game, with Garner, Starc, Shami and Rashid expected to bowl out their full quota of 10 overs each, the remaining 10 overs in the middle, will be bowled by Sir Viv, Ranatunga, Malik.

Team Raees

Raees XI:

David Boon - His 447 runs (at 55.87 average) was a major contribution to Australia's first World Cup victory in 1987. In the semi-final, he made 65 at Lahore against Pakistan and won the player of the match award in the final at Kolkata for his 75 from 125 balls.

Herschelle Gibbs - South Africa's most destructive ODI opener of all time. Gibbs played a monumental innings against Australia, scoring 175 off just 111 balls leading South Africa to victory. In the group stage of the 2007 Cricket World Cup, Gibbs hit six sixes in an over off the bowling of Daan van Bunge becoming the first player in One Day International history to do so.

Kane Williamson - At the end of the 2019 World Cup, he was awarded the Player of the Tournament award after becoming the highest scoring captain in a single World Cup, making 578 runs in 10 matches. He was named as captain of the 'Team of the Tournament' by the ICC and ESPNCricinfo.

Ramnaresh Sarwan - Super underrated Windies Batsman in the post Lara/Walsh/Ambrose era.. averaging 55+ at No.4 and strong world cup credentials.

Yuvraj Singh - Destructive, match winning finisher at the highest level averaging near 40 at 5 and a dangerous support bowler too.

Michael Bevan - The greatest ODI finisher in history, multiple World Cup Winner and Australia's MVP during that period.

Mark Boucher - Played integral innings during that famous ODI v Australia and one of the most explosive Wicket-Keeper batsmen of his era.

Wasim Akram - Does anything need to be said...best ODI bowler - period.

Chris Woakes - Underrated change bowler, capable of breaking partnerships and an excellent no.8 batsman.

Saqlain Mushtaq - Best ever ODI spinner.

Zaheer Khan - Akram-lite, THE bowler of the 2011 Indian World Cup win.

Both teams lacking bowling options, but to be fair the frontline attacks are very good with harshad having the edge on the two pace pitches and Raees the advantage on the turner.

Batting-wise I feel Raees has covered the bases a little better with strength throughout the line-up and great finishing. However though Malik/Arjuna doesn't particularly excite me Hussey at six is an ace up harshad's sleeve. Perhaps there is cause to have him further up, as he's one of the best batsmen on the team? Maybe not, the role he'll play here is important and one he played many times for the Aussies.

I'm glad we've got time before the poll is added to think about this one.

Some really great players left unpicked. Probably Haynes, Knight, Harvey, and Lloyd are the best of those, but also players like Lehmann, Alderman, Hall, Astle, Harris. I guess most of them are pre-2000, so that might have been why they were restricted and unpicked. Still, I think there were a few lesser players picked instead in some cases.

We also have less teams in this draft, only 13. If we had 16 teams, we would have had 18 more old timers in contention.

Just to clarify this rule:

A bought player can be sold to the bank as per following brackets: 30m loss for 0-49m players; 20m flat price for 50m-75m players; 30m flat price for 75m+ players. (if loss results in negative value then that rounds up to zero).

If i sell a player i bought for 16m i get 10m back?
