Why would Ronaldo come in January and miss out on playing in the CL due to being cup-tied - nonsense story.

I really don't see this "new contract" happening. I really don't.

I'm not saying I think he will definitely join United again next Summer, or the Summer after when his current contract expires, but I do think he will leave Madrid.

Madrid could well be out of the champions league by january so it might not matter too much whether hes cup tied or not

People were saying he had signed a new contract weeks ago. Bullshit story, he hasn't signed until Reald Madrid officially announce it; otherwise it's just a column filled in the paper.

Should we be hoping Bale does well and ousts Ronaldo then?
I've been hoping Bale upsets the applecart for a while. If he starts impacting on Cristiano's stats I can't see him being happy for long.

He got some stick on Friday night, but in the 2nd half he gave a bit back. He was clearly frustrated when we went 2-1 up, nothing was going his way.

Our tactics went out the window when Brunt was sent off, but Ronaldo's class shown through in the end. He got a deserved ovation from the Norn Iron faithful when he was subbed with a few minutes left. How can you not appreciate what you just witnessed in front of your eyes?

I want him back :(

Being cup-tied is based on playing in the competition already rather than the player's previous team still being in the competition.

For example, Fellaini will be cup-tied for all League Cup games regardless of how far Everton progress.

Nothing will happen in January, or ever.

I think the point they are making is that it won't make any difference to him because he'd be out anyway.

Yep I definitely read that completely wrong.

But regardless, Ronaldo moving in January (or ever) is about as likely as David Moyes dropping Ryan Giggs!

All lies. A deal for return is in place. This is just a drama to please Madrid fans.

Moyes Out! Reason #313

But this was always happening. He had to sign the big money contract before Super Bale turns him into a mere reserve player.

All our hopes and dreams are gone. Now I can go back to loathing Real Madrid and everything they stand for with a passion.

There was a time you didn't loathe them? Shame on you.

Madrid would not have ever dared benching Ronaldo and Bale can't raise his game so much consistently to relegate Ronaldo to bench. Seems he has decided to stay and show who is the boss. In seriousness, it was anyway always the most likely thing to happen and even if he had decided to move, the Monacos and PSGs would have been in queue with truckload of cash.

.....to the Januzaj and Zaha thread!!

Not surprised and not overly bothered. Never thought there was a real chance and there is also a part of me that didn't want him back either.

So so so embarrassing that they're going to apparently have a ceremony to announce this. If true, Madrid are quite a joke.
