You lot are so weird...he left years ago and was clearly never going to return. I've seen such obsession with an ex-player from anybody.

It's weird, but at the end of the day, when that ex-player is a player that will go down at one of the best footballers to play the game, the obsession is more merited.

we all know real madrid are a very good side but they are not going to win much over the next few years domestically, simply because of the current barcelona side. and europe, no matter how good they are, there are always 6 or 7 or 8 teams who are capable of winning the trophy as well.

i know he is earning super lot now but i always believe his best chance of nicking one or two player of the year awards from messi is by playing in another top league, and it is at United in the Premiership obviously.

anyway best of luck to him. he is going to score 200 goals over the next 200 games again but sadly is still overshadowed by messi.

Pity that, at least it explains Madrid dumping a ton of salaries as they had to find room to pay Ronnie.

Thought it was hilarious that anyone thought we could compete for a player of his stature.

Come back to reality!

Personally I wouldn't want him back for the price it would cost. He's too old to command the fee it would take for Madrid to sell him.

Agents using United to get the best deal for their client.

Shocker!!!

Could you honestly see us paying £60-70m on one player?

Well according to some journos, we offered big bucks for Bale. I didn't see Arsenal ever spending over £25 million in the near future; they just spent £42 million. So yeah, I can imagine it, if he was worth it.

A move back here was always unlikely. When we freed up the number 7 shirt I have to say I held a glimmer of hope but it really wasn't realistic. I mean look at the sum of money Real paid for Bale. Now everyone and their granny knows that Ronaldo is a superior player to Bale so first of all, it didn't make sense to let a player of such quality leave but secondly, even if they had let him leave would they have let him go for a sum less than Bale was bought for. OK, Bale is younger and maybe they see more potential in him. But really we were going to have to stump up pretty much the whole £80 million we go for him when we sold him.

Now in today's market is Ronaldo worth £80 million? Yes, he definitely is. If Bale is worth £100m, Ozil £50m, Falcao £60m, Torres £50m then Ronaldo at £80m starts to look like a bargain. But I just don't see how we could have justified paying £80m for him considering we sold him for that four years ago. It would feel like we just loaned him to Madrid for his peak years and that wouldn't sit right. That being said, If we had signed him this summer, I'd probably have been over the moon, no matter what we paid.

Madrid are right cnuts. They way they did the whole contract signing on camera and in front of the press was pathetic. They're so proud to have the most expensive player and highest earning player aren't they?

Ronaldo was lapping it up to, with his silly little glasses. They bloody belong together. Their egos are unbelievable.

Ramos is Spanish, been there 8 years and is in a better position to take on a captain's role than Ronaldo is. I can imagine he is a more popular figure in the dressing room too.
Ronaldo doesn't seem like a captain material at all.

Have Real Madrid given him the armband yet, and if not why not?

The convention at Madrid is longest serving. Currently that goes Casillas, Ramos, Pepe, Marcelo and then Ronaldo. He has captained the team - he did so against Barcelona when they drew 1-1 in the Copa - when a load of players were injured/suspended.

The Madrid gossip says Ronaldo and Ramos are the "actual" captains now.

On the news they just said that Indian cricketer ms dhoni earns more through annual endorsements than Ronaldo. Found that hilarious.

Why?

He's India captain and the country has a billion people, the vast majority of whom are cricket mad. Ronaldo may reach a wider audience, but I think it makes a lot of sense why Dhoni is so marketable.

I don't know. Football is a bigger sport and Ronaldo is an all time great. Dhoni is captain but he won't go down as an all time great of thr sport like, ever. It just amuses me.

I doubt many in India know who Ronaldo is, or even his existence. I didn't know who this Dhoni was until you brought it up

In rural India, your be correct. Most people in urban parts would know about Ronaldo. You know india isn't one big village right?

I just find it funny given the difference in their standing in world sport or even with respect to their own sports.

About 50% of the population would know who he is. About 50% of those would mistake him for the Fat one.

So far I don't see Barca and RM that strong, they aren't going far in Europe that's for sure.

Is this just comparing their earnings through endorsements?

Overall Ronaldo surely should make more than Dhoni.

Bloody hell Dhoni!
Overall yes because football pays better than cricket in terms off actual salary/match fee. But in terms of endorsements dhoni is higher than quite easily too. Of course dhoni is a huge brand but it's sort of funny when you compare them as sportsmen. Indian cricketers have it fecking great!
