I really hope it’s not a loan and we can just sell him and actually get some cash for a player,

The guy won’t ever make it here let’s all just be honest, there’s players in the youth team that can definitely offer at least as much as James offers which isn’t really anything

James is such a shame.

He looked brilliant in his first few matches and that pre season too. I don’t know what’s happened. His main quality is his pace but he doesn’t use it any more

Useful player. Keep him is my opinion. There are others who should be sold before him.

He isn't a world beater but he has a role to play.

He switched to the left and went on a really good run and put in a decent cross. Then Ole takes him off straight after that. Why on Earth was Sancho on the left and James on the right when it’s obvious to a blind man that James plays far better on the left?
It would be like judging rashford’s abilities based on his performances on the right. It would be a travesty if we let James go and kept the likes of Lingard, Mata and Martial.

I actually like him as a player but with Ronaldo now coming there's no place for him I think. Martial is not leaving but won't get many chances as ST with Ronaldo and Cavani ahead of him so Ole may start giving him chances at left wing again, and on right wing we've got Sancho and Greenwood now.

Wherever he possibly goes (might be Leeds, they wanted him earlier) I'm sure he'll be effective and useful player, he's been for us (first part od 2019/20 season and certain games since then) so surely would be for another club as well.

I would say he was livelier than Sancho but not exactly good either. Stuffed up half of his opportunities to attack the full back. Did put in a few low crosses "into an area." I guess it was fairly typical, put in some work but without any danger it would amount to much.

Very hard to see how he's going to get matches once our full complement are back as early season have him a chance to show he could be an option and he's not taken it.

Offers nothing when starting and is instead better coming on to stretch tired defences. But then we already knew that, unlike our manager.

Both were shite, but atleast Sancho looked like a professional footballer.

Sancho was worse than James today, who at least offered a little in the pressing department.

Admittedly there's a much better player in Sancho to come out, but if James today was one of the worst performances you've seen in a United shirt, then Sancho has to be too.

After AWB clears the shot off the line James absolutely flies into a tackle and completely misses the ball, wiping the Wolves player out.

I think we got away with one there, if that's properly looked at that could have easily been a Wolves pen.

His all round game was the usual poor quality stuff.

No. Sancho looked like a player who was nervous and played within himself.

Dan James looked like a kid picked off the park because he's fast.

Obviously we expect more from Sancho so we think he was worse, but Dan James was just horrid. I think he almost always fecked it up when he got the ball.

Forrest Gump.

I agree though. I counted James fecking up something three times in the first 20 minutes.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned, or if anyone has a clip, but there was a bit in the second half where he outmuscled Traore off the ball, and he was just left sat on the floor.

I'm sure some randomer on an internet forum knows our players better than the manager who sees him for hours each day.

Sell him before he turns in to deadwood. No loan, he won't get much better. Straight sell and use the money to buy a midfielder.

The reasons for his poor performance doesn't make it better. Sancho will go on to be much better for us than James, no doubt, but he was abject today.

You're letting your bias colour your view of the match. You said it was the worst performance for a United winger ever, when it wasn't even the worst performance for a United winger in today's match.

I hope the club approaches you when Ole is sacked. You seem like the real deal.

James was ok today, he didnt do worse than Sancho or Pogba in the first half. Pogba came to himself in the 2nd half though

Yep, surprised this was the first time it was brought up in here. It was a shocking attempt at blocking the ball or getting the ball or whatever it was he tried. Very lucky.

He's just not good enough.

If we can sell him to fund a midfielder, it's an easy decision.

I forgot about it but you're both right, it easily could have been a pen to Wolves.

The words "nice lad, but this isnt his level" spring to mind. To good to be playing for Watford, not good enought to be playing for us. Shame Sunderland arent still around.
I'd say it's about his exact level

"At least he offers something useful"

No feck off no he doesn't. There's nothing useful about being able to make shit runs and receive the ball just to recycle it as a main attacker in a top tier side. He's a black hole where attacks go to die and I don't care how much he runs that won't change. People need to get a grip and understand that running a lot isn't "offering something" at a club like ours, the same was said about Lingard for years almost out of pity because he would press and run a bunch.

That speed of his is overrated. Adama Traore is fast. James is maybe fast without ball but with ball, he is not. Few times he was one on one with defender. He could not get 0.5m advantage for clear cross on those situations. Not to mention dribbling past defender. I never saw him doing that

50% pass completed. 19 touches in 52 minutes. One 'shot' that rolled to the keepers feet. Still he did put in some blind crosses that didn't beat the first defender. Standard James.

Or you know...performances are subjective.

For example, I didnt think Fred had a bad match today. I think he was worse in his previous match.

Ultimately this.

I like him, he seems to have the right attitude and under different circumstances I'd be in favour of having him around as 4th choice winger, but we're loaded in those areas with Pogba, Rashford, Martial, Greenwood, Lingard, Mata and Elanga. Makes no sense for him to stay.

They are, that's fair. But you're being disingenuous claiming James was our worst performer today. He was poor, and offered as little as Sancho going forward, but at least contributed a little bit in the press and winning the ball a couple of times. He also didn't single-handedly start some of Wolves best attacks like Fred (who improved after the break, but that first half was horrendous).

He was always a bit of a necessary punt for us.

We were rebuilding with a new manager and had to spend big on defence at a time when no serious world class talents would be looking to join us over many other clubs, and still needed a wide player to play a squad role and if he kicked on it would have been great, if not he was a low price pick up.

Ultimately Ole's job was to turn us from a club that no world class talents would join and the squad hated each other into a functioning football club and then continue to improve the squad from a basis of a promising 'sporting project' (and a handful of cash obviously).

If its time to part then so be it, but we might lack for an attacker who puts a shift in and is looking to run in behind, unless Elanga is ready ready

People always like a hard-worker. Some people used to say Welbeck was a better footballer than Berbatov. Now it sounds laughable.

He needs to leave tbh. We just have far far better players.

But you're being disingenuous claiming James was our worst performer today.

Bruh, how hard is it for you understand that others might have a different opinion about who is the worst player on the day? That's not being disingenuous, that's a different POV. Sancho had a bad performance, Dan James looked like a bad footballer, that's the difference. Crazy you are struggling to deal with a different opinion.

Your justification that doesn't make any sense. A bad performance is a bad performance, whether you look like a bad footballer or not. What it looks like is that you like Sancho, you don't like James, therefore having to find a reason that Sancho was better despite offering less.

Besides, your original opinion was that James' performance was the worst wing performance for United ever, which is ridiculous hyperbole. It's an opinion on par with the world being flat, or that vaccines give you autism. That's why I have a problem with it.

Bruh.

Childish reactionary hyperbole aside, I do think that Ronaldo coming in gives us the opportunity to move James on, as now we have plenty of depth across forward positions.

The frustrating thing is that for all his deficiencies he actually puts some good drilled balls here and there which are totally ignored by our strikers.

Best example was just before he was taken off. No movement towards it whatsoever from Greenwood there.

Not a bashing of Greenwood there obviously as he's a special special talent who performs but just an observation of all our forwards when James crosses it. Maybe they don't trust anything good will happen.

Given it's United I'm really surprised a bigger deal wasn't made of it by sky or BBC. When I saw it live, I thought shit, we're done. But it was ignored completely, and I'm happy cos we got away with it

Your justification that doesn't make any sense.

It doesnt make sense to you, because you disagree. I thought Sancho had a bad game but he didnt look out of place. But Dan James didnt look like a PL footballer. Kinda the difference between Fred's performance last week, and Bebe's infamous performance in 2011 against Wolves.

Besides, your original opinion was that James' performance was the worst wing performance for United ever

No I said it was one of the worst performances I've ever seen. Which it was, imo. Deal with it.

Leeds in advanced talks over permanent deal according to Di Marzio!

Bizarre that he was getting starts and even more bizarre considering we’re selling him.
