Maguire played really well. However, I suspect that lack of pace may have played into the negative tactics, as England must have been terrified of the likes of Maguire caught high up during a counter against the pace of the USA front line.
As a consequence, they were quite deep, which effectively pulled the whole team quite deep as well.
Harry Kane is not very mobile is he? There was very little intense pressing from the front from England, but again perhaps the fear of pace of USA up front meant there was never a plan to press high up the pitch
