I don't think he is good enough to start- but I can imagine him being an off the bench goalscorer.
Current and prospective/future squad players. For instance Hag deployed VDB as the furthest forward out out of his three in midfield at Ajax. The way he deployed him was also a bit unconventional because VDB was the pivot but the most advanced. He'll have options to sign someone else or maybe even deem Bruno more suitable for that role at united. Hag didn't even hand VDB his debut at Ajax and doesn't really owe it to him to start him at united. Peter Bosz is the coach that promoted him and VDB was already a key player when Hag took overLike who?
Fair enough if thats your opinion but my point stands. It's not a foregone conclusion that Hag will give VDB the game time he seeks at unitedAnd that level is shite.
Been injured for the last 3 games. Pulled up in warm up last weekend when was due to start. Was he eligible to play yesterday if he wasn’t injured? Noticed he wasn’t in the match day squad?
Thanks. Would he have been allowed to play if he was fit since we’re his parent club?Been injured for the last 3 games. Pulled up in warm up last weekend when was due to start.

Is this a special rule but the FA? In Germany loan players are allowed to play against the team owning themNope.
It’s an English rule, so Martial would come down to if the clubs had written something in the deal.Is this a special rule but the FA? In Germany loan players are allowed to play against the team owning them
How about if you would have faced Sevilla? Would Martial be allowed to play against you?
Yeah, pretty sure it's an FA rule. I remember Lua Lua scoring against Newcastle (his parent club at the time) for Portsmouth years ago. As for Europe, I think Martial would have been allowed to play against us. I remember Courtois playing against Chelsea, when on loan at Atletico. Is this a special rule but the FA? Probably ETH knows DVB extremely well and as to what he can do and what he cannot do. He does not need to see it for himself at United as he knows it best. How would anyone know this atm though aside from ETH? Like, I will be intrigued to see how he gets in with a proper chance, but im sceptical that anyone knows what plans a new manager would have atm
They don't. I hope ETH gives him a chance to play in the AM instead of letting Bruno play there just because he signed a new contract. Donny could be a completely different player under his former manager in a different system. How would anyone know this atm though aside from ETH? This is the kind of made up nonsense that is easy to throw out there because regardless of how ETH truly sees him there is almost no doubt he will use him next year. With Pogba, Matic and Lingard definitely gone the reality is Donny will have to be used even if it is a rotational role. We could sell him to fund new signings but honestly his stock is rock bottom at the moment so we would do better to keep him around next season and hope that ETH can get him back into some sort of form so that at the very least we can recoup most of our outlay selling him in 2023 as opposed to probably having to give him away for a token fee at this point. How would anyone know this atm though aside from ETH? Why? what can he offer as an AM? He was never that great to begin withThey don't. I hope ETH gives him a chance to play in the AM instead of letting Bruno play there just because he signed a new contract. Donny could be a completely different player under his former manager in a different system.
massively overstated and Thiago has infinately better passing range, dribbling, tackling and accuracy. Such a mistaken comparison. He is more like CleverleyThis man has not had his fair chance at club. He was not even given a chance when Fred and Scot were at their lowest. He showed a glimpse of what he can offer in Ole’s last game (was it watford?), he played really well.
i am sure he will stay at the club next year. ETH knows him well and Donny had a good tenure working with him. The question is whether he will be given a starting role or off the bench. He can play as a 10 or 8. Assuming 10 is guarantees for Bruno, would he take Fred’s 8 position? Or would be be a back up for both? I would like to see him given a chance at 8 next to a proper 6 (Rice? Philips?). I think he is someone who would be good picking up the ball and distributing it forward (Thiago for Liverpool). He just needs to be given the trust and proper coaching to deliver on the pitch
Nothing positive with you is there. Believe any negative story even if it is probably a load of tosh.God help us.
i am not saying he is on par with Thiago. I am saying he can play the role Thiago plays for Liverpool. To be frank, I have not seen VDB at united, has he ever had 2 games in a row? He did have a very good game against watford, i stick to that. For sure I have not seen enough to make me say he shouldn’t be at the club especially that he now has the chance to work with the manager who he started and was successful withWhy? what can he offer as an AM? Wasn't he pretty much a baller under ETH? There's a reason he played him a lot. Including against Real Madrid and such no?God help us.
He's shown what he offers in ETH's system. That's as if not more relevant than what he showed in odd minutes under us is it not? Especially when you consider we didn't play a remotely similar system. Why? what can he offer as an AM? He was never that great to begin with

Yea I still think he is a much better player than he has shown or been allowed to show at United so far.Wasn't he pretty much a baller under ETH? There's a reason he played him a lot. Including against Real Madrid and such no?
But I guess that's the point of all these changes happening. ETH is going to play his system, and these players are going to get culled, we aren't bringing him in just for him to abandon itYea I still think he is a much better player than he has shown or been allowed to show at United so far.
The problem Donny has faced is that he isn't one of those players who will pull out an individual moment that will win us a game, he is pretty much the definition of a system player.
If we start to play with a system that utilises pass and move then we will see the best of him. The only problem is that we don't have many players currently who would fit that style (Sancho would be one who would also massively benefit)
Yea my concern is the feasibility of making such huge changes in a transfer window or two. I feel like this will be a rebuilding process where we end up making 3-4 changes this summer which won't be enough in the short termBut I guess that's the point of all these changes happening. No. He was overrated. De Jong was the one on everyone's lips. The one everyone truly wantedWasn't he pretty much a baller under ETH? There's a reason he played him a lot. Including against Real Madrid and such no?
Its not that useful and players like him offer little in this league. He is like Lingard mixed with Cleverly. These players just disappoint. Too much tippy tappy not enough actual quality on the ballHe's shown what he offers in ETH's system. That's as if not more relevant than what he showed in odd minutes under us is it not? Especially when you consider we didn't play a remotely similar system.
Managers putting in a new system like players who understand said system so there's no doubt he'll be back in the squad if not starting.
You still need quality on the ball. can't just recycle possession and go backwardsYea I still think he is a much better player than he has shown or been allowed to show at United so far.

He played well under him but that does not mean he will be up to the job here and Erik may not think so either. Managers moving to bigger clubs often bring some of their old favourites along and it rarely ends well such as Joe Allen at Liverpool. I mean if all your budget will stretch to is a 2014 Ford Fiesta then you are happy with that but if you change jobs and suddenly have the money for a new Audi you probably are going to ditch the Fiesta even if you had good memories with it.Wasn't he pretty much a baller under ETH? I get your point but I feel like we’d be stupid not to at least give him a season under ETH to see if he can get a tune out of him, if not, let him go. More midfielder options can’t hurtHe played well under him but that does not mean he will be up to the job here and Erik may not think so either. Oh I agree we will need him next season if for no other reason than to rebuild his value so we can sell him. We have too many players out of contract along with a few others who have to be jettisoned to be getting rid of Donny this summer.I get your point but I feel like we’d be stupid not to at least give him a season under ETH to see if he can get a tune out of him, if not, let him go. Who said I believed it? In future I’ll put if true beside every comment so you don’t get upset. What would you like me to be positive about?Nothing positive with you is there. Believe any negative story even if it is probably a load of tosh.
