I haven't played FIFA since 2017, is it worth a punt ?
Only played Clubs so far but it feels identical to previous iterations atm.
I'd avoid it personally the gameplay is horrible. It's hard to tell what it is the mechanics or the games engine with frostbite but year on year it's the same since 22. It's subjective of course but it's probably only worth grabbing with an extensive discount.
Had some unbelievable luck lately, I somehow managed to pack the new winter wildcards Ronaldo thing is he’s absolutely awful. Feels like he’s got about 60 pace.
Honestly it feels like the gameplay was better around 2010-2012
I paid 30e for it down from 80e and it still wasn't worth it. Game ball and ball physics are just horrible, I haven't played it for years and it's just a terrible game all round. Should focus more on making the game more playable and realistic than adding so many gimmicky online features.
PES/efootball is free and it's gameplay while it has quite a few flaws of it's own, it is infinitely better than this pile of dogshit.

Had some fun using the 424, but against stronger opponents it is just suicidal. Packed the Centurion Geyoro card from an SBC so thought i'd give her a go, and gone back to my original 433(2) formation, gone 9-1 in qualifiers.

Played fifa my whole life. Found gameplay easy after a while and would mostly win. But I find ea fc genuinely difficult, every game on career is a complete struggle

It's been horrendous since the recent patch. Don't know what it is but I've been struggling a lot. Didn't even do champs qualifiers yet as I'm dreading what's about to come, although many are saying the same thing that rivals is suddenly harder than WL.
I've ripped up all my tactics, chopped and changed my team and I'm competitive again. By I'm facing a lot of god squads now. I've started the Eusebio SBC so he'll make a big difference and level the playing field a bit.

No interest in playing this online but it came free with my PS5. Have they fixed the thing where your back line just watch as players run into space behind them?
What sort of tactics are you running? And what are you using for you ultra attacking, need a goal tactics?
I've just come back from a couple of weeks off, and I'm struggling with things I didn't before, which had apparently been nerfed. Mainly the pressing. I actually preferred being pressed before my break, but I heard 71 depth had been nerfed and yet it's worse than ever now. Though that may be the gameplay. But I'm finding that players are pressing like dogs and even have their full backs pushed high up pressing too somehow.
Another tactic in struggling against is players dropping back, all players in their half and countering. I just can't find a way through against decent players. It's giving me PTSD from the "drop back" meta from a few years ago.
I feel like in two weeks off either I've just gone shit or not focused on it, or things have changed and I've not got to grips with it yet completely. Before this I was div 4 (could have gone higher but played bare minimum rivals) and competitive in every game.
Right now I'm running 5212 as my UD, 3421, 4321 and 4222 as my UA tactic. The latter three are ones I've used this week and I've got a bit more of a grip of the games again but not played in a couple of days. Will attempt WL tonight but I'm expecting the worst

My in game tactics are stay back and overlap on both full backs, cover centre and DLP on the CDM, everything default on the CMs, 2 wingers are default except for get in behind and get into the box for crosses, striker is stay forward only.
Team instructions are balanced, 50 width 71 depth, 50 width, direct passing, 3 for players in the box, and 2 for corners and free kicks.
In defence i close down with the 2 cms, and leave the other CM and CDM to clear up loose balls, and right switch stick to full backs to close down wingers, but try not to tackle unless my team is in their shape again
Cheers, I'll give it a try sometime. I used my current tactics properly last night and qualified with 5 games to spare, then won won 3 from first 6 in WL, but that was alternating games with my mate who doesn't really play and lost all his games
so feels like I'm up and running again. I did the Balotelli and Di Lorenzo SBC yesterday just to change it up a bit for WL and both have been very good so far. Balotelli has insane dribbling. He has missed some chances but sits at 15 goals from 19 games, and 5 of those games I gave wins away in qualifiers.Is this current FIFA any good for the Switch? The last FIFA I played would've been 19 or 20 on the Xbox one.
FIFA on switch is basically a port of FIFA 18 for playstation 3. You'll have all the latest kits and transfers but the gameplay and engine will still be playstation 3
Does nobody on here play career mode? I have very little interest in Ultimate Team but found career mode this year to be abysmal. I’d have jumped on Efootball’s Master League but it doesn’t seem to be happening.
That's not the case for this latest game, I believe it runs on a different engine and has been upgraded.

For any in here who care about maximizing your wins in FUT champs, you should just run a 4321 and set 1(ideally both) of your full-backs to bomb forward. The game isn't designed for the player to get marked, so they will always be wide open. And it's super easy to switch flanks this year(more than ever). And it's the formation with the best angles for trivelas, finesse shots, etc.
Back to back 19 wins in FUT Champs, fairly proud of that. Division Rivals is horrible to play though, in Division 2 but the opponents are so good.

I've still not managed to get any higher than 14 out of 20 in Fut Champs. I'm the same now, i've even got 500k in coins but can't really see anybody worth spending it on?

That's a great team, it seems like I'm the only one who doesn't have Mbappe yet. But I can never do away with Joao Pedro, he has like 650 goals in 450 matches for me.
Do you score with headers? It might be worth switching Mbappe and Salah during the match if you are struggling to score. Go on the outside and cross to Lewandowski and Muller who are beasts in the air.
Your defence seems great, not sure about the midfield. What is your biggest problem, defending/dominating or scoring?
Yeah pretty much everyone has him now! I found the squad builder fairly easy to do over the month for Mbappe. The latest one is overpriced though.
No! I've never mastered heading. Even when I play pro clubs with my friends I struggle with heading which is annoying because we play a very direct cross heavy style!
I have no trouble scoring, the finesse shot is so overpowered with Muller and Salah, I had Zola and Son at one point too. I struggle at defending. I think I probably need to sacrifice an attacker for a midfielder. I'm saving my packs for TOTY and halfway though the Zidane SBC so I'll reassess depending on who I get once TOTY comes out.
Try and give it a go, when I struggle against some of the most elite players, I use that WW Hemp on the left side and Willian on the right side. Joao Pedro and Balotelli will win most aerial battles by either heading the ball or volleying (hugely overpowered).
For defending, are your full backs at stay back? Maybe have at most Camavinga on Balanced attack, and the rest at stay back. It might be worthwile to trade an attacker for a defender. I play 424 as well, but switch in-game to a 433 when needed and push Willian to the midfield. My other midfielders being Pirlo 92 and RTTK Modric. Sometimes 2 midfielders (especially when they aren't CDM's) is just too lightweight, especially against better opposition. If you haven't already, I'd recommend having many different tactics on your ultra defensive - defensive - attacking - ultra attacking. Just switch in-game based on the opponent, and the score.
@AjaxCunian do you create your own custom tactics etc? Or do you use what's supposed to be 'meta'? Because I'm too lazy to test things out I tend to find comments on reddit or youtube tactic videos to try things out and just settle on what I play best with. Problem is I don't enjoy most of the 'meta' formations like 4321 at the moment, but it is supposedly the best one. I still use it and beat people with it, but I hate the lack of width.
Have you got at least one full back set to overlap?
Every time I press to pass/shoot etc in Ultimate Team the power bar appears above the player's head, then they take a few extra tiny steps/frames before doing it.
It only takes about half a second between each pass but it's so hard to play competitively when this happens. Amazing how long this game has been out and they still can't fix the most basic gameplay mechanics.

I mix it up a bit. I usually have them on overlap even if they're on stay back, because I manually trigger runs. Sometimes I'll have them on join the attack but I feel like it gets exposed a bit.
I have my Ultra Defensive tactic set up as the 5212 as I've always done well with it and I feel like it helps against the high press/wide attacks that many use. On this one I have the full backs on join the attack and it's sometimes helpful and sometimes not. If the opponent floods players forward to press and they have their defensive width on wide, then it leaves you exposed as the wing backs clear off up the pitch and get marked. But if they aren't as good in the press on play narrower, then the wing backs are perfect for escaping the press. They pick up the wide positions in the middle of the pitch and are completely unmarked and open for the long ball switch.
I create my own tactics, I just stick with something and make tiny adjustments in-game. I feel like I could improve using the meta-tactics, but I am too prideful for it and want to do it on my own.
I refuse to let AI defend for me, I don't know how to manually trigger runs. I want to find out what works for me as much as possible.
I posted before about my Land Of The Giants team. Added Havertz (Whipped+ one) so I'm now running a 3-5-2 with Havertz and Trippier as wide mids. Haaland's always reliable in the air but I've been looking for another striker to chip in alongside him.

6'8 Anosike Ementa. Somehow 94 agility (almost all forwards around his height are sub-50) and 86 pace while also being a 99 jumping, 99 strength, 98 aggression human wrecking ball.
Quick Step playstyle so he feels faster than any 6'8 player should. Press Proven and Technical so you can twist some ankles with your Danish giraffe. He's great. Only real drawback is the pretty much wasted Dead Ball+ playstyle he ends up with.

Packed TOTY Xavi icon card from the 83x10 sbc pack, and did the Bruno sbc too so have revamped my midfield. Not sure who to play in midfield with them though, and whether to use a flat 3 midfield, or a CDM/CAM formation.
I have 93 Modric, 89 DeJong, 88 Trezeguet, 89 Geyoro all of who I love using. At the moment I am leaning towards a flat 3, with Modric as the deepest of the 3, Xavi as the main playmaker and Bruno as the goalscoring midfielder.

Playing career mode using full manual control settings is surprisingly great. Prior Fifas felt horrible on fuma. I've been playing exclusively on eFootball the past couple of years due to its better implementation of, well everything gameplay wise, but I'm enjoying it so far.

How long did it take you to become good at full manual mode? I have tried in the past but could never stick at it as it just seemed impossible to relearn everything
Ive been playing eFootball using full manual for a few years now so that helps a lot.
Best thing to do, try win the FA Cup using all full manual (except player switching, keep on default) at semi pro level, then work your way up to professional, world class etc.
Did the newly released SBC player pick on the web app and got TOTY Messi. Checked Reddit and apparently there was a mistake by EA and lots of people got him. They removed the SBC shortly after. Such a great company but I'm not complaining.
I was lucky enough to do the SBC fast enough but not super lucky to pack him unfortunately.
