a soft spot for Ajax
For years I have played fifa and usually around march/April time is when I usually give up on it but no not this year I have given up on it before the end of January, simply because you are only rewarded if you spend plenty of your own money (UT) and as for myself I have probably spent over the last 5 fifas ..£50 of my own money total not each year but altogether. This game only rewards those who spend stupidly to get ahead instead of those who week in week out grind away to try improve their team and finally I am done this year already. Oh and the awful optimisation on pc doesn't help. Will I be back next eafc quite possibly but I am glad each I am stopping earlier and earlier and soon enough for good. Feck ea and their virtual panini sticker bs.

I was lucky enough to do the SBC fast enough but not super lucky to pack him unfortunately.
Congrats to you, may he serve you well.
Yeah thanks. He's fun to play with and as I also packed TOTY Ribery earlier that day my team is looking quite good!

I imagine...I haven't packed any TOTY's but never expected to, my team is good also already with a lot of icons.
Anyway other than fun I see no reason to play because regardless of the team, I get the same results in WL.

So I played FIFA 21 the other day with my mate, and since new PES is shite I decides to buy FC 24, and somehow this feels far worse game than FIFA 21 that I played the other day? Am I imagining, or is FIFA 21 really much better than this?

Very disappointed I paid for it now.

Did you spend lots of extra money to buy some digital cards with player's faces on it? That's where the real game is.

Not that it seems like anyone is still playing this, but I just packed FUT Birthday Gullit from Rivals rewards and I am gassed
How has he been so far?

Gone 19-1 for four weekends in a row, this is the first FIFA where I have played weekly from the start. My team is not the best, but optimal for my style of play and I hardly face teams that are that superior to mine. Haven't spent an additional penny on it either.

The amount of promo's are insane, there are so many cards to choose from. It does make it fun, as I am not playing against the exact same players every game. I haven't even faced one player that use Balotelli or Willian, players that I have been using for months now and wouldn't trade for even some of the bests of icons. The addition of women has made the game a lot more fun.

I’m curious to know how this game performed compared to its predecessors with the FIFA name. Was it a success, average or more of a flop?

I'm not a skiller, so the 5* skills are wasted on me, but I can say with certainty he is the best card I have ever used. His defending is the standout, he just bodies everyone and if he does get tackled he just wins it back straight away. Shooting i havent been enamoured with, he does make some really good runs (I play him CM with balanced instructions) but when he does get in the box he seems to miss the target more than I'd expect. His R1 dribbling is smooth though, and he is really good in transitions from back to front, usually makes the pass that leads to an assist.

Agree on the variety of players being usable and being used too. There are obviously some ratty players who seem to be in every squad (Akanji and Werner I am looking at you) but on the whole there is a much wider range of players making squads in d1/elite compared to previous years

Wow that's a huge title. Hate playing against him, always have to avoid contact with him.

Werner is insane, regret not doing his sbc so much. Would be an improvement on Joao Pedro for me.

My pack luck has just got better and better. Opened the birthday player pick pack last night, and out pops Benzema.

Then today used some of my PS rewards to open the birthday icon pack and out comes BOTH VERSIONS of Thierry Henry

Been doing the 80+ pick SBC and pulling decent cards and lots of decent filler cards as well

Lucky bastard. Enjoy him.

Faced him earlier for the first time and he is beyond broken.

I got bored really quickly. I thought after a break (couple of years without playing) I would enjoy Fifa again but it's just shite now. Even with it's issues, FM trumps it completely now for me. I'm officially old. :(

It's just a dreadful game.

Efootball has it's own issues, but it's much better and much more enjoyable from a gameplay point of view.

Same here. Skipped it last year and got into Ultimate Team this year again, but gave up completely when they gave a load of people TOTY Messi for free  What a mess of a game. I'm sure their bottom line is still doing fine though so they won't give a shit.

Yeah I thought I may suddenly get the desire to play it but I've just not given a shit this year. If the improvements look decent next year maybe I'll consider it but it does seem they've successfully ruined one of the games I love.

I never played it again after the first time installing it and playing it for hour or two, it's been three months probably since I haven't even entered it, which is weird because I give every game at least some chance.

Probably just me but I find a huge difference between Professional and World Class

Tested it -
Game 1 on Professional, I beat Real Madrid with Crawley. 3-0.
Game 2 on World Class, I lost to Real Madrid 4-1 with Barcelona.

Effectively, I can't get any enjoyment out of it. Either way too easy or way too hard.

I was the same when I started playing it a few months ago. The AI is ridiculously annoying on higher difficulty. The key to deal with it is to not charge to get the ball by pulling defenders out of position. Just be patient, keep the shape and close the passing lanes. The AI will eventually pass itself into trouble and you can standing-tackle it or just bump them off the ball.

The game is shit. Barely resembles football anymore. People scoring from ridiculous distances with outside of the foot, crazy finesse shots, pinpoint fast crosses from billion miles away, players going through the bodies of defenders, silly "tricks".
But I guess that's what the kids want.

I still find it very plyable on single player once the sliders are fiddled with fairly significantly. Problem is the career mode is complete garbage.

There's no challenge at all. After 5-6 games you just start winning by 6 or 7 goals every game no matter what the difficulty setting. Which is dumb as outside of career mode the difficulty level is nothing like that.

Also still annoys me that in 2024 there is virtually no individuality between one player or one team and the next. PES were giving players and teams their own u ique styles back on the ps2

You can't compare any FIFA title to PES on the PS2. PES was light years ahead. The player individuality, the passing variety, the tactical variety ,the ball physics. It was the best sports series on any console ever ,imo. It was only lacking on the majority of the licenses but you could rectify that with the extensive edit mode.

I'm actually contemplating getting a PS2 again and dive back into this series because the lack of quality football games out there nowadays is so, so lacking.

Anyway, FC 24 :

Just downloaded PES21 and I'm putting a new 23/24 season update on it.
Anything is better than FC24 at this point I guess.

It fills me with sadness how PES struggled to make the transition from ps2 to ps3/360. It was such a great game and then just fell flat for a couple of years and then fifa had made up the ground on them.

Yep, KONAMI didnt know how to successfully transfer from PS2 to the PS3 and since then, although PES 18,19,20 and 21 are all decent games for the PS4/PS5, they lost their general appeal and FIFA just took full advantage. And those early FIFA games on the PS3/360 were really good, to be fair. Absolute trash now though.

PES21 is good, it's the last football game that I played a lot.
