Serious issues with umpires call in DRS.
Banton and Morgan identical issue : one in and one out.
Makes no sense to me

Yeah that was a shit review... if he’d hit it he would’ve reviewed straight away. I always wonder what the non-striker says in those situations “yeah looked out mate, but better check”?!

Morgan’s played some terrific shots. England should win this from here.

England have absolutely smashed it. Made it look so easy it’s frightening.

Definitly in the squad but Malian seems to be playing himself in so a tough call. The fact Root can bowl as well might favour him in.
I'd go for a top 5 of :

Banton
Bairstow
Buttler
Stokes
Morgan

Because the top 3 can win a game in the first 6 overs.

Edit: I've forgotten Roy as well. Roy makes it for Banton if he's in form

Bumble

Excellent batting & some lovely shots today. Nothing in the pitch but it was pretty shite bowling from both sides.

Picking Root in a 15 man squad would be purely for politics. Doesn’t deserve a slot at all. He hasn’t even got his test form as it should be.

Root shouldn't be getting in ahead of Hales. England need a finisher, the top order is stacked.

Hales won’t be playing for England again whilst Morgan is Captain.

Absolutely stacked in the batting apartment currently though.

I'd rather have Root than Malan
I wouldn’t, Malan has been top tier for England avg of 50 and a SR of over 150
Root avg 35.7 and a SR of only 126

My England XI
Roy
Buttler
Bairstow
Malan
Morgan
Stokes
Ali
Jordan
T. Curran
Rashid
Archer

With Woakes or Willey as cover for Jordan, Wood as cover Archer and Banton as spare batsman. That would be my 15 man squad.

Whats India's best XI right now? I suppose West Indies and Australia compete too?

Having 3 RHB followed by 4 LHB does not seem ideal.

I'd say have them all pad up and then play it by ear!
Can maybe have Bairstow open with Roy then move Malan to 3, and then have Buttler come in after 10 have been bowled
Yeah, England's challenge is getting the permutation right for the match context. Malan and Stokes strike me as two batsmen who need a bit of time to get going. Ali is feast or famine. Ideally you want one of Morgan, Buttler and Stokes to be there at crunch time.

The squad’s vs Australia have been announced I think Vaughan will Be disappointed Root isn’t in the T20 squad the way he was banging on about him yesterday

T20 squad: Eoin Morgan (captain), Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Jonny Bairstow, Tom Banton, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Joe Denly, Chris Jordan, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood. Reserves: Liam Livingstone, Saqib Mahmood

ODI squad: Eoin Morgan (captain), Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Jonny Bairstow, Tom Banton, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood. Reserves: Joe Denly, Saqib Mahmood

Roy is staying in the bubble to see if he can be fit for the ODI’s

Is Dawson injured? Would have thought given Ali's indifferent form they'd want him as an option.

Edit: Yes, he ruptured his achilles.

Looks a bit better with Archer and Wood in but I'm still not convinced by England's bowling. One day they'll leave the batsmen with too much to do.

Are there any other decent off spiner options for England to look beyond Ali potentially? I love the lad but clearly the past year hasn't been good for him.

Also again the only reason I can see Denly getting ahead of Root in the T20 side is because they want to take Root if he is unlikely to play any of the matches for Australia. Can't see how Denly is ahead of Root on merit.
