Which approach is better for clean sheet points: getting one defender each from 3 or 4 defensively good teams or banking on 1 or 2 very likely clean sheets?

I use the former approach since getting a clean sheet is more difficult than getting a goal and I find it less risky. But I occasionally miss out on points in games like WBA vs Burnley.

Or just forget the clean sheet and go for goals/assists? ;)

I think Pogba represents good value (starting to sound a bit like SAF here) at 8.0, but I can't find a way to really fit him in my team without messing everything else up.

How many goals and assists are you guys expecting from him this year?

He scored 5 and got 4 assists last year.

His season best was the year before at Juve with 8 goals, 12 assists so I think we can hope for something in the middle.

Compared to what you can get for his price, I still don't see him as a great FPL option.

£8m
Son, 14 goals, 9 assists
Pedro, 9 goals, 10 assists
Sterling, 7 goals 14 assists

£7m
Zaha, 7 goals, 11 assists

Start again

£5m on Schmeichel is not good value.
Walcott, Mariappa, Rangel and possibly even Elliott won't start.
Willian will only play until Hazard is fit.
Dier and Fernandinho won't score enough points.
Rooney is dogshit and Everton have awful opening fixtures.

If you want both Lukaku and Kane then downgrade your 3rd striker and the defence and improve your midfield. And never pick Walcott even when he has his 1 good game a season and all the Arsenal fans think he's the second coming of Thierry Henry.

I agree. I'm taking off my red tinted specs this year. Only players worth having from a Mourinho United side are defenders and the big man up front.

Same, Valencia and Lukaku are the only two that make sense for me.

I'd be very happy for Pogba to score 7, assist 7. I think that would be a decent return if everyone else is chipping in for United but in terms of FPL , that just don't cut it!

What do people think of this?

Foster
Trippier, Pieters, Taylor (burnley)
Phillips, Fabregas, Pogba, Mky
Lukaku, Kane, Jesus.

Defence not picking up many points is the worry. Might chop out Pogba but think he could be set for an excellent season.

Had Tim Fosu-Mensah in my squad but his move to Palace messes everything up. He was up for a squad role in a solid defense for 4.5. Now he'll be starting (?) in a weak defense.
His move to Palace is only positive, he would not get any points for sitting on the bench at United. Palace has been playing with a 3-4-3 formation in pre season and if TFM can nail down that right wing back spot he might become really good value at only 4.5.

I read somewhere that after GW1 Fabregas might not feature either because Bakayoko will be back.
Maybe change one of Pog and Miki with KDB if you can afford it.
Jesus/Aguero rotation issue is bothering me, think I'll go for Aguero.

Thanks, you make a good point.

I do think Pogba will do well this year, but I am going to hold off for now just to see how he gets on FPL wise.

Will Pedro be suspended for the start of the season because of his Red card?
Pedro at 8ml or Cesc at 7ml?

Thanks mate.. Mariappa, Rangel and possibly even Elliott were just to make up the numbers. I am banking on my main guys to get me the points.

True. But Son is injured. Sterling is not a sure starter with so many options for Pep. Pedro will play but somehow I think Chelsea are going to have a terrible season.

I have Zaha and Pogba in my team. Pedro is a good shout though.

Yeah trippier might miss saturday but i can just sub him out.

I was thinking the same thing with Fabregras too. He is a gteed starter with Kante in central midfield as Chelsea dont have any real backup at the moment. If they sign someone else or when Bakayoko is back, il sub him out. Whenever he plays though, he always picks up points - he assist ratios really are top draw and he is 7m.

Your right, its not clear who will start or how many minutes Jesus will get to start with. Think I will chop out Jesus and maybe bring in KDB and a cheapish striker whilst it settles down

Got this at the moment:
De Gea

Trippier
Alonso
Cahill

Pogba
KdB
Sigurdsson
Romeu

Morata
Lukaku
Rondon

Basically changing it every two hours. Should probably transfer Morata out for someone cheaper to replace Romeu with someone better. Also any idea about Trippier's injury?

Well here is mine, would like to get Chico in for Vokes, perhaps, which means downgrading my 5th midfielder & 2nd goalie, worth it?

De Gea, Boruc
Daniels, Jagielka, McAuley, Mee, Simpson
Ali, De Bruyne, Coutinho, Pogba, McArthur
Vokes, Lukaku, King

I'm going for a team of players who will all win their matches the first round.

3-5-2 formation

DDG - Against West Ham

Stones and Walker - Away vs Brighton
Kolasinac - Home vs Leicester

Pogba - WH home
Willian and Fabregas - Burnley home
Tadic - Swansea home
De Bruyne - Brighton home

Lukaku - WH home
Gabbiadini - Swansea home

Hopefully this will give me a nice start to the season.
Considered Deeney vs Liverpool, i'm sure he'll score against them if he plays, but he was only 75%.
Think i got alot of value for my money, and many of my players' price will probably go up after a couple rounds.

True. Only United mid I'll look out for is Mkhitaryan, whose price is 8m as well. Would like to see where and how he plays first though.

Pogba will have plenty of assists to his mate Lukaku!
2 assists for Pogba and 2 goals for Lukaku in the opening match, watch this space.

Currently on a 4-3-3 and starting with

Forster

Cedric
Darmian
Danilo
Kolasinac

Alli
Zaha
Willian

Lukaku
Firminho
Jesus

Subs : Elliott, Ritchie, Carroll, Dunk

Not having Kane scares me. I'd ideally prefer Salah or Mane over Firmino but something tells me he might score more goals this season. I think United & City will start the strongest and I'm tempted to triple up on both. Pep factor though means rotation so I'll probably bottle it and end up getting De Bruyne back in and removing Jesus. Also I know that Danilo, Darmian and Willian won't be first choice for long but I'll probably wildcard early when we know a bit more.

Thoughts on this anyone?
Also @FC Ronaldo, I'm in as: redchester
That is what I am thinking too. Mky looks like a certain starter this season, especially if Jose does play with 3 at the back. Even with Matic coming in and freeing up Pogba, Mky should be playing even further ahead so you have to expect plenty of goals and assists. The only downside is that Jose is likely to sub him at 70 minutes to freshen the attack up. Pogba will play every minute.

Our first eleven should be clearer after the super cup tonight.

I think it's a safer option to start with Pogba first, as he is guaranteed to get points. If Mkhi gets regular starts over the next two-three games and stays on for 90 mins, I'll swap Pogba for Mkhi. Will also keep an eye out for Pedro at that price. Him and Willian will have the creativity burden on them early on.

How is Pogba only on 8 i do not know. Surely he's worth a 9.5 or 10 this season?

I don't have him in my team though as i forbid myself from choosing any United players
