I'm happy you're all so eager, but I need your input on the league setup. The way I see it, there are 4 options.

1) Create only a Premier League, with all of us in it. When someone is relegated, they are relegated into the next division. If so, we can either leave it as "non-league", or we can simply create that league as well. This will mean that we'll see other teams in the league as well, teams that aren't us. They shouldn't last for long, though.

2) Create a Premier League and a Lower Division. Half would be put in the Premier League, half in the Lower Division (or maybe a couple more in the Lower Division). It would mean we don't all start out equal, of course. It's up to you.

3) Have an "American" league system, with several divisions for the same level. Then end with a playoff, or something like that.

4) Have one league with all of us in it, with no relegation.

I'm partial to options one or two.

1) No.

2) Good idea, and you have to make sure the "second division" has more people than the first division, a nice Cup to go with it as well would be nice, just to keep things interesting for the struggling managers in picking up some prize dough.

3) Is a good idea but i'm sure alot of the anti-american group of supporters that litter this page will be against it... To be frank I think it's the best way to do it.

4) Naw

Nimic, how about you create a redcafe team with all of us in it? We can start off in the Championship and you can just manage us. I did that 2 years ago and it was good fun.

Would it not just be easier to stick us all in the English Premier League (or various different top flight leagues) and see what happens from there.

That's something I want to do, but not for this Experiment. I'm comitted to the League idea now :p

Ironically, it actually probably wouldn't be any easier to do, from my position. The editor has a nice "create nation/competition" feature. If I do that, most people would never play eachother.

I think I'll do the two-league idea. It should be fun for the lower league teams as well, particularly since we all know they started there. If they actually get any real success, all the more fun.

People who have "signed up" so far. We could do a few more, if there are more people who are interested.

I just thought of something. If we say, have 9 teams in the Premier League and 12 in the Championship, and 2 teams relegated... then every team which isn't relegated gets to play in Europe. 4 in CL, 3 in UEFA Cup (if not a team from a lower division wins the cup). That would be... interesting :p

I can do this....I'll chuck us into the non-league system and just see what happens from there, keep it on holiday mode or something. I can start right now in collecting data and could start the game somethime this week.

Hmm, they've set United's pressure ability to 20 it seems. Have scored last minute equalizers and winners 3 games on the trot, (94, 96, 93)

Does anyone have any idea how to get kits to show in this game, it was alway so easy on previous versions.

Create a "graphics" folder in FM10 folder and then paste the file in there, badges for teams work no problem but i cant get the kits to work for love nor money.

You have to extract the download files in the respective folders..

Has anyone else had absurd difficulty scoring on Petr Cech on anything INSIDE the box? I've scored from outside, but I believe I've had 4 1-on-1's and numerous other good chances in the box that he's just swallowed up completely in the games I've played against Chelsea. Tis frustrating.

That said, Michael Carrick is actually a pretty good goal scorer for me in the game. Just about the only one bar Dzeko with the formation I've been using. Think it might be time to try something a bit different.

For fecks sake, I'm going crazy here. I can't hold on to leads. I just went up 3-0 at home to Atletico Madrid within 14 minutes, and it should have been more. And now it's 3-3. In my last game, away to Partizan, I went up 2-0 early, and looked to score more. And only a 90th minute goal by van Nistelrooy kept me from losing 3-2. I bought in Adler to replace Palop, but he seems to let in every 1-on-1. Unfortunately, I think the rest of my defense is seriously lacking for a club like Sevilla. I think that must be my next priority.

Oh, and I keep hitting the woodwork. It's twice this match, and 4-5 times the last match.

Edit: Aguero just scored a hat-trick. I'm now losing 3-5.

Edit Edit: Forlan just scored. 3-6.

As far as I can tell, my tactics aren't to blame. This is just a team of bottlers. Hey, as I'm typing that, 3-7.

Yep, I just lost 3-7 at home, after being 3-0 up after 14 minutes. I'm pretty close to resigning now, despite still sitting in 6th. Funny thing is.. that it's funny! I can't do anything but sit here and laugh to myself.

Ive just been promoted into the Regional First Divs (Southern League or something).

Bookies have me at 1-2 to get promoted into the Regional Premier Divs (Isthimian, Southern and Northern).

Oh...and I just sold my best player....

There's some pretty damn frustrating things relating to Goalkeepers on this game, not only just the 1-on-1's that you've mentioned and I agree with... But in my Newcastle game, Steve Harper has managed to concede 3 goals by the ball bouncing off the bar or post and hitting him on the back / head / legs or any other part of his anatomy and rolling into the net!!! Bit of a joke!! :nono:

So what are the tactics everyone uses?

The set-ups and the individual tactics I mean.

I'm trying a system like Barcelona's real life system. Not working quite as well as I'd like it to, in terms of scoring goals, but I feel like it's starting to come along a bit. I have trouble scoring against teams that park the bus though. Not sure if it's that I'm lacking creativity, or the tactic just isn't good enough.

I used a similar tactic to Barcelona's for Newcastle, Smith - Barton - Nolan in the middle with Lovendkrands and Jonas on the wings and Smolarek / Macheda playing the lone striker. Worked quite well to start with, got a few good results up until December when the AI started catching on to me

Now i've gone for a Chelsea tactic and it's working wonders. I play 4-4-2 Diamond, pretty narrow with the two CM's making runs into space on the flanks, a inside forward playing behind the front two with a deep lying stiker / target man and a poacher up top!

------------------Harper-------------------

R. Taylor---Coloccini----S. Taylor------Insua

---------------Smith/Barton----------------

---------Nolan--------------Smith/Barton---

------------------Merida-------------------

----------Smolarek----Carroll/Macheda-----

Got me a 4-0 win against Middlesbrough :smirk:

Do you use the DM as an anchor / ball winning midfielder or just central midfielder with defensive approach?

Yea, I'm starting to wonder if the AI is starting to catch on to me as well. It's weird, cause I'll go and beat Bordeaux 4-0 away, and then draw against Everton at home only thanks to a late equalizer, while playing pretty shitty (thank you Michael Carrick for beasting with this tactic). I've snatched quite a few late draws via equalizers including a Berbatov 86th minute goal when I was down to 9 men.. :nervous:

I line up like this..

----------------VDS-----------------
Rafael/Brown---Rio---Vidic-------Evra
------------Hargo/Fletch-------------
-----Carrick---Ando/Van Der Vaart----
----Jovetic--------------Rooney------
------------Berba/Dzeko--------------

Van Der Vaart has been injured pretty much the entire season so far, which really sucks as I signed him to be my biggest creative influence. Feel like I'm wasting Rooney a bit, but he's actually been quite good as an Inside Forward, and Jovetic does great on the right even though it's not his natural position. Still try to find room for Giggs and Scholes in matches as they can still play a huge role in matches if played correctly. Giggs was my MOM in a League Cup quarterfinal win against Chelsea as a matter of fact. Carrick is amazing with this tactic and is my only guaranteed starter not named Rooney. He's been by far my most consistent player. If VDV gets a bit more acquainted with the squad, I feel like this tactic could pay huge dividends, as its one that's definitely rewarded solid midfield play. Oh, and I may have mentioned it before, but Dzeko is fantastic. 14 goals in 16 matches so far.

I personally have my DM's role being "defensive midfielder" with support duty. Had him with defend originally, but I felt like I didn't have enough going on in the attacking half.

In 23 matches so far, I've gotten 6 reds. Almost all were off the malicious sort as well (i.e elbow to the head, going in with two feet). I haven't even set my players to tackle hard or anything. Bit odd that.

Edit: Kind of a good thing. Feel like I've gotten a good idea for a tactic after having to play 75 minutes of football away at Aston Villa with 10 men. It even managed to get the best out of Valencia, which I have not been able to do in any way, shape, or form so far. If my current one continues to falter, that should be useful..

I usually use my DM as a Anchorman, but that's because it suites my players stats better! I tend to place the DM in a CM role also, as you've mentioned, when I play him there I use him as a ball winning midfielder with defensive duties! :)

Nope, I score a lot of free-kicks though... Or at least I did until I had to get rid of my ageing dead ball specialist because had had a personal dislike of me. Git.

If my opponent misses the first one I know for 90% sure that the next one is going it. It's absolutely ridiculous how they can score from free kicks with such regularity.
