Not sure why I'd take the job if I was lampard. He must think they aren't playing at their level and any increase he can get out of them will help his cv. I personally wouldn't go near it

His stock is quite low right now. Unlike Gerrard he has nothing on his CV trophy wise as a manager and arguably two failed tenures at PL clubs. Imagine he feels it's a situation where if he doesn't do well then it doesn't matter too much but if he succeeds it puts him in a good place to get another PL job.

I don't rate him at all, but strangely I think he at least makes a better Chelsea manager than an Everton one.

At Chelsea you can probably do ok for a while just by being a decent man manager and having a big enough name for the players to respect.

It possibly is that doing as bad or worse than potter won't hurt him any further.

They're just trying to get ahead of the usual "players had to Google who he was and made up mean nicknames for him" leaks

He'll never get another PL job unless his uncle somehow manages to pull some strings with a club he's friendly with. He wasn't good enough for the two he's had, he should never be getting another go, even if he wins something at Chelsea.

pretty much. If there was the slightest intention to give it to him long term, we'd just give him a 12-18 month deal off the bat. I posted in another thread that either the new manager is sorted, but arrives in May/june. Or the interview process is going to be so drawn out, that an interim makes more sense for now
I actually think if he wins 6 of 10 and has a good run in the UCL then they might offer him a deal and then sack him by Jan next year.

If he wins the Champions league and gets them into Europe somehow then he'd quite clearly be in line for another PL job. We have seen the dross that gets appointed across the league consistently. Heck, Chelsea might even keep him on if that happens.

Wish him all the luck, I hope they do really well, no CL win, but enough that idiot Todd gives him his job back full time, he never should have lost it! In Frank they should trust.

He's comfortably the worst manager to grace the PL in the last 10 years. If Chelsea win anything it's not due to Lampard.

If you say so. That doesn't mean PL clubs won't look at that achievement and hire him though.

joke of a decision by the club and by Lampard to accept. this will be exactly like RR appointment last year, which didn't turn out particularly well.

This is a completely mental decision. Ted has proven so far to be a terrible CEO throwing money into the wind. He should just manage them himself he clearly does not understand football at all. Frank must feel like he’s win the lotto. He’s nothing to lose as his stock couldn’t be any lower. Win win for him.

It’s a 60 day contract and he gets to have a farewell at the end of it, which he never really got to have when he left as a player or as a manager the first time. At least this time we know exactly when his last home game will be and he can get the send off he deserves. I'm personally very happy this is happening.

If he wins 6 of 10 and a decent CL run, he still leaves in May but increases his chance of another crack at a different prem side.

I dont think he will win the CL of course, but a decent run and he gets perhaps another crack at a prem side, as i posted above. Thats what will come of it, no long term stay here.

Lampard is in no position to turn this down. His recent outing was failing miserably at Everton ffs

Would you really want to miss the chance of him managing you to greatness for the next 10 years

I think not. Sign him up at the smallest hint of progress

Shame he hasn't goet enough time to get them down there alongside nEverton. His work there was grand.

His agent will be picking up some lovely business, he’s a miracle worker.

Todd Boehly proving how clueless he is again, hopefully Lampard will do well enough to get the job permanently

Clearly I’m in the minority but this seems a decent appointment for 5 or so weeks.

Still has recent PL and European management experience. And is a legend of the club, so likely to boost the morale over a short period.

Who else would they have got? Rangnick?

Not sure about that. They need a bit of energy and to put some of their chances away more than anything. Lampard seems to be quite a decent motivator and he can't be a worse forward coach than Potter. It's quite funny but I don't think it's an awful move. Chelsea are quite lucky to have someone like that on standby really.
If Lampard is the level then most top clubs could have someone like that on standby.
