I misread the url and was hoping for some sort of Bale: Cultural Learnings of Spain for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Wales situation.

By the time I've typed this, he'll have earned 6 grand since he signed.

What is Bale's commercial value to Real? I can't see it being as high as Kaka and Ronaldo unless looks/monkey resemblance doesn't affect commercial appeal. Beckham wouldn't have generated as much commercial appeal if he looked like a rat or chimp.

Jamie Redknapp on how good Real Madrid will be counter attacking. Personally I'm not sure I'd bother attacking Madrid if they had that on the counter...

Or something

Stupid deal, well overpriced. Just saw the unveiling and how pathetic. From the badge kissing to the kissing of 'the boss' Ronaldo's arse it was a total circus and farce. As if Bale has been following Real since being 9 years old. Was he watching them on S4C for fecks sake.

BBC Sport's Ben Smith reports: "Southampton will receive £2m as a result of Bale's world-record move to Real Madrid but that figure could have been 10-times as much, had they not decided to allow Spurs to buy out the player's 15% sell-on clause in 2007. At the time, Southampton were struggling financially and so decided to sell the clause back to Tottenham for £3m.
"As part of the deal Southampton got Spurs youth goalkeeper Tommy Forecast although he never played a senior game. So instead of an £11m windfall, Southampton will have to make do with a £2m Fifa solidarity payment, which comes their way because they developed the player."

Editing my own posts.
If owning a shirt when you're a kid is being a lifelong fan, I'm a continental fairweather whore. Also, as of recently, I've always dreamt of playing for New York Cosmos...and Brazil.

I went to Turkey and came back with a fake Galatasary shirt. I was heavily chastised by my friends and I don't think ever I wore it again, even though I still quite liked it. Every now and then I wonder where that shirt got put because I can't seem to recall ever being able to find it.

Nice, that as an Arsenal supporter you can still buy your kids Manchester United kids. Top tmanete
There was the implied threat that you can get a Chelsea shirt but that shed at the bottom of the garden looks cold with foxes. My daughter still has Maya 9 in glorious red when I convinced her that she would be the lead singer in the gel group with two blues,

How many did he do?

It's also the fact he tried to balance it on his foot, and it fell straight off. I honestly think your average Joe could have done a more impressive showing. He then booted some balls into the crowd, but what I reckon he didn't realise is they stadium was only filled from the first tier. So he was probably kicking the balls into the second tier where there was nobody!

A stage, catwalk, big screen, all the club legends etc.

You get an idea of the sheer extent of Ronaldo's self-belief when you see that picture and consider what he went on to do afterwards.

I heard yesterday that his preferred destination was Man. United and that he would have joined us had a bid been accepted.

Regarding the badge kissing and the "had a Madrid shirt when he was a kid", he's said during the unveiling that he's been a fan of Madrid his whole life. It might be genuine of course. He really might have followed and admired Real Madrid since he was a nipper, but to me it just sounded a bit Robbie Keane.
